You might be wondering what happened to the poll this week, and why this isn't the audio you voted for two weeks ago (are you actually wondering or am I just neurotic and petulant? I am curious please tell me if you're actually wondering).

I had a bit of a scheduling mishap and so I needed to postpone that script (it's coming, don't worry!) In the meantime I was able to find another writer whose scripts I plan to use whenever these last-minute issues crop up. It's the summertime and I'm super busy with work and so unfortunately I can't plan around these things outside of just having a stockpile of audio to rely on just in case, but I can assure you that the scripts provided by this writer are of amazing quality.

Howdy.

I had this weird burst of positive feeling this morning that I can't ascribe to anything in particular so I just wanted to share some hopefully uplifting words in the form of a personal anecdote/petty gossip.

Last week I had a really unpleasant reminder of a certain someone I had crossed paths with in streaming (no, I will not blab who it is and give them more attention). Essentially when he was on a mutual friend's stream, he felt the need to say that he didn't like my streams because I was "anxiety-inducing" upon only knowing me for a full minute of stopping by my stream. It was honestly a little upsetting to hear it so plainly and live on someone's stream as if I was just supposed to accept that, not only because he was a fairly big streamer but also because it's something I hear quite often in my content creation career.

I am not everyone's cup of tea. I am aware of this.

From the beginning I have never wanted to appeal to the lowest common denominator of people. I've always known that my personality would be at odds with a lot of other content creators: I'm very opinionated with my values (most notably: if you're not in support of gay and trans rights then fuck off), and I enforce boundaries like crazy because I think encouraging parasocial behavior in an online community is inherently toxic. But I've also never liked the phrase "if you're not upsetting people then you're doing something wrong" that's so often bandied about by some people I follow on Twitter because I never set out to ruffle any feathers either -- I was literally just being myself.

Obviously, it still gets to me. I wouldn't be writing this whole thing if it didn't. But every single day when I get these negative thoughts and feelings, I remember that there are indeed people that I've met in my life who actually see me for who I am behind my Internet personality.

And that's mostly what I want to impart to you guys: it took me my ENTIRE life to get to the point I'm at now. It took years of painful self-discovery and emotional torture, and honestly because of my mental illness issues it's still a struggle from time to time. But I know I'm getting better, and I'm realizing my worth isn't based on the judgments of shallow people who don't take the time to actually get to know me.

New month -- how are y'all?

I've been kind of having a bad mental health week so I'll keep this short as I'm going to immediately go work out after this and spend the day writing out my feelings in private.
