a weird toki pona language(!) cover of ashes of dreams from NieR Replicant that I am trying to work on. no vocals yet (though i maybe finished a lyric translation today) and this is just a doodle so there not really any toki pona in here yet but it's gonna be that eventually.

school is making me so busy and i've mostly been thinking about toki pona! but i doubt it's of particular interest here for me to post toki pona ramblings

This is actually based off the doodle I posted yesterday, except that when I got home and sat down at my desk I was possessed by a spirit and was unable to move or do anything else until I did more to it. I like this much more and it sounds almost like a finished song...

Apologies for the radio silence but I've been quite busy since arriving back from my vacation. (caught COVID, moving into a new apartment, general emotional turmoil)

A quick and disgustingly mixed test of an idea for vocals I had over a song which I'd last shown off in my Acid Unicorns mix.

I'm a bit embarrassed about the lyrics--they were mostly freestyled, I didn't write much of this before singing what came to mind--so I will not be transcribing them; it's shoegaze, use your imagination! I was still dealing with COVID symptoms when I recorded this so please forgive the lack of vocal clarity on this.

A doodle from September last year, based on a Destroyer sample. It's kinda frustrating how often I come up with and then finish songs based this heavily around samples of not very obscure songs- it dissuades me from releasing them since I wouldn't be able to put it up in many places, and I wouldn't really want to collect money for them. I think this one's really good though.

hi again everyone!

I'm just posting to let y'all know that content will be a bit sporadic the rest of this month, and the first week or so next month. I'm currently on vacation for the next few weeks, and then I'll be moving to a new apartment.

Hopefully, I'll have some fun things to show off though either during or after this trip, though- I'm visiting a musician friend, and we've discussed possibly making some stuff together. Keep an eye out for that, and regular posting (according to the non-existent posting schedule I've made) will be back around the second week of August perhaps.

Today's doodle is a song which I came up with the past few weeks, prompted by watching the pilot episode of a cartoon that I remembered from when I was very young, but never got made into a series. A few seconds of its soundtrack got stuck in my head while watching it so I tried to vamp on it a bit.

Originally created for DustCar Race #16 (pony-related topic: "Why did Trixie get kicked out this time?"); the sync listen happened on March 1st earlier this year.

This wasn't on topic for it obviously, but I came up with it in the days preceding the sync, but  I was quite happy with it and people seemed to really like it when it started playing.

Not sure if I'll try and do anything more with it though... A lot of people compared it to Pogo, probably because of the old sounding strings sample. Vocoder and horns are sampled from two old clips of TV channel bumpers from the ~1980s.

Today, I also went through my releases on Bandcamp and made everything prior to spirit / songs for lovers free or pay-what-you-want. What this means it that everything except CHAMELEON, in nature, together, and spirit / songs for lovers, is now free for download on Bandcamp.

Those last releases are now here as attachments, in case you don't have them for some reason, and would like to. Due to size restrictions, spirit / songs for lovers's FLAC edition is hosted on my own server instead of being attached to this post.

All future music will be getting uploaded in a similar fashion, usually offering Bandcamp download codes that can be redeemed; I'm not offering them for these releases mostly just because it'd be unwieldy to post them here given I can only make runs of, at a minimum, 100 codes.

I don't really know what to say that hasn't already been said by the intro paragraphs, so I'll just cut to the chase. here's what I have for the first Patreon post!

Also... if anyone knows of a better way to share stem packs I'm open to suggestions. Patreon imposes a 200MB size limit on individual uploads, which is why these are separate files; normally I'd put them all in a .zip, but that's too big.

I hope to be posting more stems in the future, but I figure it's good to start off with these.
