Important Merch Announcement and Patreon Rewards Update!

[If you’re at the $5-7 level, we’ve probably already messaged you directly, and you can ignore most of this post. If you’ve sent us your size and address, your shirt is coming.]

Merch is ready!

We have brand new shirts, stickers, buttons, and posters available in the webstore and as Patreon Rewards.

www.thatawfulsound.com/merch

Patrons at any level will get 20% off their entire order in the webstore with the promo code PATREON20

New Patreon Rewards

New Patreon tiers have been added! You will be grandfathered into these new tiers based on your current pledge. You can also manually opt into one of these new tiers if you wish to do so.

See the Posters section below for more info.

T-Shirts

We are very happy to announce this chill new shirt designed by our own Regular Dawg Maatman. The front breast features the podcast’s mantra in the style of our Cali brethren from Nebraska.

The back features a new take on the podcast artwork, surrounded by a trusty ball chain necklace.

These are in very limited quantity, and a lot have already been claimed. You’re getting the first shot at the remaining few, so we recommend acting soon.

Unfortunately, all medium shirts are currently claimed. We’ll update here if that changes, but we also intend to make more once this batch sells out.

Posters

These 11x17” gig posters are based on the ball chain Lars logo and advertise That Awful Sound appearing at a special location with one of the many bands we’ve covered on the show. Try to catch us at the World Trade Center with Limp Bizkit! or at the Malibu Dreem House with Aqua!

Custom posters are available as a reward for the $3 and $8 Patreon tiers. They are also available in the webstore in both custom and random options.

If you donate at the $3-4 level, you’re automatically entitled to a custom poster featuring your choice of supporting act, as well as stickers and buttons.

If you donate at the $8+ level, you’re entitled to a shirt, a custom poster, stickers, and buttons.

For subscribers in either of these categories, let us know what band you want on your poster.

If we don’t hear from you within a week or so, and we already have your address, you’re getting a random poster, which is still pretty cool because these things are tight.

Stickers

We have 4” stickers!

Buttons

We have 1” buttons!

Important:

if you’re at a level where you get free stuff, you have to send us your mailing address so we can get it to you.

If you’re getting free stuff, and you want to buy additional stuff, DO NOT use the webstore, or you will likely have to pay additional shipping.

Instead, PayPal us directly @ PayPal.me/thatawfulsound and specify the items you’re buying in a note during checkout.

If you’re not sure about the price after your 20% discount, message us for help.

Thanks for listening and for all your support!

Thanks for being patient! Here's stuff from both last week's episode and this week's: more talk about sentient AI arcade games from the Dreams in Digital video, some interesting political discussion about activist hardcore bands, lots of deleted comments from Mindless Self Indulgence, and Emma performs another weird shoe-horned parody about an establishment democrat and set to the tune of an unfortunately named MSI song.

114 - American Shit

This week we got some deleted banter-y stuff, some stuff I probably should've included in the main episode (including the eponymous line), and 15 minutes of deleted youtube/song meanings comments.

Hello loyal Patrons! There weren't really any clips deleted from this week's episode, so instead you're getting a sneak preview of the entire comment section from next week's episode. All you need to know is that we're covering Godsmack's "Voodoo," the video features an Actual™ Wiccan™ Ceremony™, and these comments are lit. Plus there's a dog and kittens in the studio.

99 - ManiFest Destiny (Fyre Fest&MoM Outtakes)

This week Emma drops by to help me read from a mind-numbingly hilarious NYT article about the disastrous Fyre Fest, a "boutique" live music event founded by Ja Rule and geared toward "upwardly mobile millennial influencers."

The real-world result, however, was attendees literally being stranded on an island for days with no music and only prison sandwiches to eat, in what could be described as the least-sympathetic telling of Lord of Flies ever devised. Also,  outtakes from this week's show.

98 - Open Mic Trench Coat (Staind - Outside)

This week I descend into depression after having to listen to Staind’s Outside one too many times. Albert refuses to be moved by what is clearly a very disturbed singer/songwriter and talks about being mocked by his parents for wanting his ears pierced in elementary school.

Why are the fans at this private concert so happy and smiling when Aaron Lewis is clearly moments away from killing himself onstage? Did I used to work with him in a warehouse? Is this song a same as other one?

97 - Bonus - Sugar Reggae

This week we've got deleted stuff from the extra-long Bush episode, including arguments about what words mean and another one of JP's sex stories, this time involving a former teacher of ours.

95 - Sensual Street Fighter (Whitesnake - Here I Go Again)

This episode we’re chatting about Whitesnake and their Iconic, ironic video for “Here I Go Again On My Own” featuring the singer’s future wife. How much did she know with that smirk?

We discuss the full-on boob slip that rocked the comments section, an IMPORTANT lyrical adjustment, and I begin to develop my grand unified theory of 80’s metal band names. Plus I just plain don't like this song. Angie does. It's fine.

94 - The Universal Language (Eiffel 65 - Blue)

Hello Patreon subscribers! Feast your ears on this extra long bonus episode in which we talked about Eiffel 65’s “Blue (Da Ba Di)." It's a segment from the "Nonsense Words" episode that ran too long for the format at the time, but I’m glad you’re hearing it now.

We chat about how I used to annoy my middle school teachers with this song, the 56 times “da ba di” is said, childhood interpretations of these totally dumb lyrics, and most importantly, the epic, 12 page backstory for the CGI aliens from the music video.

Episode 93 - Bonus - Im' A Chick Magnet lol

This week for Patreon subscribers! We have a good chunk of the deleted half of the infamously drunken Episode 2! Hear the first time we talked about the Mess atrocity, Cadillac, as well as the conversation about MxPx’s Chick Magnet.

Also: we teach Angie how easy it is to have babies, fight with my Apple TV, and recommend the new Pissed Jeans album.

92 - Bonus Content - Trolli Suckers

This week for Patreon subscribers we have cut scenes from episode 92, including a letterman-style countdown of my guests “Most Awkward Sexual Experiences,” beginning and ending with a graphic #1; a new bond supervillain; not peeing on my futon; and a semi-heartwarming story about a conversation my guest had with the grandmother of a trans kid.
