Original Terry pose for podcast logo

Morning! Just wanted to share the original pose I had in mind for Terry for our "Jump on the Bat-Wagon" podcast logo. Folks had been trying to guess what I'd be going with, for a while, and it was always gonna be this. Was going for a kind of "I don't care" attitude from Terry. But when I rough-sketched it out, it just wasn't feeling right. Got the wife's opinion, and changed course to the final version! I think it looks much better. But felt like sharing a little behind-the-curtain peek for y'all!

Batman Beyond Fates: What Happened to Everybody?

Here's Friday's video a couple days early! Enjoy!

"Batman Beyond" jumped 40 years into the future, leaving us with tons of questions about the fates of our favorite heroes and villains. But we've got the scoop: the Justice League, Riddler, Nightwing...and beyond.

Early Zeta Concept Art!

From the Watchtower Database archives: a look at early concept art designs for Zeta!

First comes to us from Glen Murakami, a rough sketch for the "croissant head" version of Zeta, before they swapped to his boomerang head.

The second was seen in a behind-the-scenes featurette on the TZP DVDs, showing a much more ghastly, skull-like head for Zeta. Glad they kiddified it a bit!

And lastly, I figured I'd pop in an extra design sheet from Atomic Cartoons, which were background synthoids seen in the series finale, "The Hologram Man." Good thing Zeta himself didn't have a toilet for a crotch.

Thank you for your continued support, and look out for more DCAU goodies soon!

Girl's Night Out - Kids' WB! Promotion

For years, tons of Kids' WB! artwork posters promoting various DCAU episodes only existed online in the form of super tiny JPGs that made them basically impossible to use for anything, let alone even see properly! That is, until Heritage Auctions. Many different old promotional images became available in HD quality--here's one, promoting the New Batman Adventures episode "Girl's Night Out"!

JLU Mattel Action Figures - "Super Friends" Model Sheets

Artist Christopher Jones (Justice League Adventures, Young Justice, The Batman Strikes) did model sheet turnaround work for Mattel back in the day, designing several action figures for their Justice League Unlimited line! Here are the designs for the "Super Friends" 3-pack: Apache Chief, Black Vulcan, and Samurai.

I've always found these turnarounds very cool, as they sort of give us a look into what these characters might have looked like had they actually appeared on the show! Would you have preferred to see these "actual" SF characters, over the Ultimen adaptations we got? Personally, I really enjoyed the stories we got with the Ultimen, and think they adapted the otherwise mildly insensitive character concepts into something more palatable for the "modern" age.

The Only Right Way to Watch Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman

When you're binging "Batman: The Animated Series," when are you supposed to pause and watch the movie, "Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman"? This question has stumped DCAU scholars for decades...including us. We tried and we failed. But we finally figured it out...

STAS "Legacy" - Supergirl at S.T.A.R. Labs

A while back, we were sent a rough design by Dan Riba of Supergirl's operation table at S.T.A.R. Labs, from "Legacy" Part 2. Sharing today with you all! I've always loved the way they reused this for Galatea at the end of JLU's "Fearful Symmetry" as well.

"Mystery of the Batwoman" - Promo Art

Spent the last few hours Photoshopping what little screenshots we get on the "Mystery of the Batwoman" DVD special features of the original promo art, into a considerably nicer poster version! Will likely be using this for the video thumbnail, and it's just in general nice to have. Wish we could ever see the actual art, but this is better than nothin'! Enjoy.

Who's Who in the DCAU Legion of Doom? Origins + Pokerap

NEW LINK! Had to shift the ad to a different spot in the video, so please give this final public upload a view/like/comment! Thank you all! 😁

Tomorrow's new video, a day early for you all! The very first "Justice League Members" count/Pokerap video was voted into existence by you fine folks years and years ago, as was the second on the Legion of Super-Heroes. So really, YOU made me do this. I had to finish the trilogy. It was inevitable. Something something Thanos. Enjoy!

----

The final season of "Justice League Unlimited" featured a TON of supervillains, some household names, some...very much not. Who are they, how many are they, who's rogues gallery do they each belong to, and most importantly, will they all fit in a Pokerap?

The Canceled Season 4 of Justice League Unlimited: What Could've Been

Power Girl Was in the DCAU the Whole Time

Hey, everybody! Surprise! New video! We were planning to post this yesterday for you all, then publicly today, but we had to wait a bit extra for sponsor approval. JUST got approved, and per our contract with them, we have to post today--therefore you get this only a few hours early, but HERE IT IS! ENJOY!

----

"Justice League Unlimited" swapped out the character of Power Girl with Supergirl's evil twin instead. But then we learned there was ALSO a Power Girl in the DCAU...so who the heck is she, and WHERE?

Member$hip changes you need to know about!

Hey, everyone! You may have already seen others post about this, but we wanted to make sure you were all up to speed.

Yesterday we received an email from Patreon informing us about updates to the iOS app which are out of their control:

"Apple is requiring that Patreon use their in-app purchasing system and remove all other billing systems from the Patreon iOS app by November 2024. This means that starting in November, new memberships purchased in the iOS app will be subject to Apple's 30% App Store fee."

Beginning in November, NEW PATRONS' pledges will increase by a few dollars "automatically," if they use the Patreon iOS app to control their donation to Watchtower Database (or any other creator they may support on Patreon).

As far as we understand it, the iOS app is all that is affected by this, AKA if you sign up for Patreon via the iPhone or iPad mobile app. Those of you already here, apparently you're fine!

"We want to be clear about one thing: this will not impact your existing memberships at all. Apple's App Store fee only applies to new memberships purchased in the iOS app beginning in November 2024."

But if you are someone reading this who is thinking of signing up, or if you're a current patron and decide to drop and come back, have to make a new account, or some other circumstance that requires re-pledging, please consider doing so via the Patreon website on desktop, to avoid these extra fees, and so that WE receive the full amount of your pledge!

That is all. Wanted to make sure everyone was aware of this change.

Thank you so much for supporting us, from everyone here at WDb!

Sega CD Gameplay (Patreon)

As promised within the full "Will It Canon?" video, here is the uncensored, "full" (because I cut out all the boring stuff) 12-minute montage of me playing, or rather attempting to play, "The Adventures of Batman & Robin" for Sega CD!

I originally considered livestreaming this, but a time crunch forced me to go ahead and just record it. But I wanted to make sure y'all on Patreon got the juicy behind-the-scenes goodness! Enjoy.

I get real mad.

Hey, everybody! Our brand-new episode of "Will It Canon?" is completely edited and done! ...except for the sponsor. The color yellow has been the ultimate "Green Lantern Kryptonite" for decades of comic books. But does the yellow weakness exist in the DC Animated Universe, or is DCAU GL OP?
