Sam and Alessio talk about Us, Endgame, Star Wars, and more. Spoilers abound, but you can skip them per the handy-dandy time announcement early on. Enjoy!
Our coVerage of Metal Gear Solid V continues! This week, Sam and Alessio take you to the end of Chapter 1. Strap yourselVes in, this is going to be a Very fun episode.
Alessio here—just wanting to update everyone on some slight delays. Unfortunately, due to a family loss, lots of traveling, and a hectic schedule over the last few weeks, there has been some schedule adjusting going on.
There are several Let's Play episodes recorded (gameplay) that just need commentating (audio) before they'll be complete. Likewise, we've skipped a week of recording to allow for life, so the early release podcast episode should come out (or two) this week.
Just wanted to be transparent and keep you all posted regarding content. Love producing this show, we've just had a bad streak of life events as of recent.
Due to a family loss/funeral, I'll be on the road this weekend, but Sam and I do have 2 LP videos ready for commentary (trying a new method) and a 3rd (start of the next game) in the queue ready for recording. They'll be coming down the pipe soon!
We finally did it, you guys: we're talking about Metal Gear Solid V! Season 16 starts off with our group discussion of the prologue to the main adventure, Ground Zeroes.
REPOST OF A PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENT... WITH NEW DETAILS!
---
Hey there, Patrons.
We're doing something super special for Episode #100. Check out the end of EXTRA-OP #07 for more information, but in short, we're doing a TRIVIA EPISODE hosted by Sam Wright and Alessio Summerfield... starring... well... you.
We're holding auditions for 3 Patrons to join us for the chance to be on the show and win some fabulous prizes.
In order to be eligible, you must be a Patron. We're looking for video submissions and a short email explaining why you think you should be a contestant (share some of your personal favorite Metal Gear trivia).
All applications must be submitted via email to contact@metalgearmondays.com or acsummerfield@gmail.com before April 15th. We'll be keeping the prizes a surprise for a little while longer, but rest assured that the #1 prize is something special and quite valuable.
Any questions? Ask in the comment section below, so that we can be sure things are clear for everyone. Also, once you've submitted your application, please also DM us in the Patreon message system letting us know you submitted, so that we can be 100% that nothing gets lost in our SPAM folders.
Looking forward to having some lucky winners join the show!
Sam & Alessio make history, by discovering an exploit that allows you to assassinate Liquid Snake BEFORE the final boss fight!
... ... ...
Totally kidding—that doesn't happen. But, some other funny things DO happen in the latest episode of the MGM Let's Play series on Metal Gear Solid (1998). The episode coming after this will conclude our time with the PlayStation Classic.
Sam & Alessio realize that this is ostensibly a Patreon Podcast... or rather a podcast where they can talk about updates and news specifically re: the Patreon. Also, we chat video game hype, Captain Marvel, and more!
Want to see Alessio's pre-interview research? Here's a digital copy of some parred down notes from Alessio's physical thoughts. Will more than likely attach pictures of the handwritten version later today.
**UPDATE** Our episode #100 TRIVIA EPISODE auditions are now open to ALL PATRONS. Please submit a contestant audition video to contact@metalgearmondays.com to be considered by April 15th.
Alessio got a chance to sit down and chat with the bad boy of games translation himself, Jeremy Blaustein.
The entire team at Metal Gear Mondays is extremely grateful that Jeremy took time out of his schedule to connect with us, and strongly encourage everyone to follow along with his work at his website or via his Twitter.
Jeremy's MGS1 ghost image in the thumbnail was used via @Nitroid's excellent ghost image uploads. Please give them a follow on Twitter, as well.
Sam & Alessio make their way to the Blast Furnace and have fun with Claymores & Raven.
We're getting ever closer to locking in the playback issues that we've been having with the gameplay and have come to a solution that should resolve everything. Unfortunately, we batch recorded MGM Let's Play #11 - #13, so the finale will be the first LP with the updated situation. Audio syncing has been resolved, but now the video playback is a bit sluggish at times. We apologize for any frame loss in the next few videos.
UPDATE: We'd also like to add a "Questions From Patrons" section to OUTER-OPs. These should be questions that can generate discussion. They can be Metal Gear specific, or otherwise. Just try to keep them within a few sentences. We'll pick a handful every OUTER-OP to cover. (I.e. "How different is it covering a game for the show vs playing a game for leisure?" or "What's a game franchise that you wish would have continued?")
Hey there!
We're finally pulling the trigger on our first OUTER-OP variant to Listener Response episodes. This one will be for Season 15 (a.k.a. the accidental MGS Retrospective episode featuring The Story So Far, The Kojima Code, and our various interviews). As explained previously, these OUTER-OP episodes will feature half the episode dedicated to a topic decided on by you guys and the other half reading listener responses.
So, what do you guys want to hear about? For the sake of the continuity, we want to avoid discussing MGSV GZ/TPP spoilers just yet, but everything else is fair-game. Suggested topic with the most LIKES (see: heart) will be selected, but we'll bank the others for future episodes and maybe even have time to do TWO (wow) per OUTER-OP.
Rounding off our accidental season 15 of the show (which we’re subbing the MGS retrospective season) we’ve secured an interview with Jeremy Blaustein.
This will be an informal conversation between Alessio and Jeremy, per his request, and we’ll, unfortunately, be speaking at large about his career, the process of localizing, and Snatcher, but avoiding a lot of MGS1 specific talk. This is an explicit request from Jeremy and almost cost us the interview. So, we’re honoring that, but may be able to get some snippets of MGS goodness here and there.
With all that context, do you guys have any questions you want me to keep by my side for deployment during the conversation?
Alessio takes down Sniper Wolf and chats about some MGM video updates.
Another Let's Play with a minor audio delay. Ironically enough, Alessio discovered the issue and fixed it for future videos right after finalizing this video.
Cast your vote on the next MGM Let's Play title! Sound off in the comments if you're interested in:
- Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes - Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance - Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes - Other (insert game here)
It's up to you to decide the future of the Let's Play titles!
Ladies and Gentlemen, it's an extreme honor for us to present you with a very special interview episode. This week, Metal Gear Mondays sits down with Cam Clarke (Liquid Snake).
You'll soon receive a notice for a very special episode—which will be available to all Patrons. At the end of that episode is an announcement... we are now offering a Discord sever to all $1+ Patrons of the show. It's our way of saying thanks, and we're excited to be able to interact with you all.
Also—we're on the hunt for a moderator. While Sam, James, Isaac, and I are eager to be involved and communicate with you guys, we won't be able to be ever vigilante non-stop. Any volunteers or groups that would be interested in helping moderate/grow the community would be EXTREMELY welcome.
Looking forward to meeting everyone on the other side! Just click the link and join-in. Please don't share this link outside of Patreon. We'll be assigning everyone roles as they join in. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me at acsummerfield@gmail.com, the group via contact@metalgearmondays.com, or send us a quick Patreon message.
**UPDATE** We've now opened this VERY special opportunity up to ALL PATRONS, instead of just the $5/$10+ crowd.

Time to witness one of the coolest lines in the game... but not before Alessio gets owned... like 100 times.
Also, OBS, what we use to record, was recently updated and the adjustments seem to have caused an odd delay in audio. We'll get this sorted before the next episode, but be weary that there's an odd time delay here and there.
