a Mars & Venus fan sign 💖

I got to go see the Sailor Moon The Super Live musical performance on their North America tour! This was something I had only dreamed of being able to see in person, so I wanted to do something special for the occasion. I saw someone mention that there were people with Queen Beryl uchiwa/fan signs at one of the performances (incredibly based, btw), so I tried making one! It was kind of a last minute project and I had to use materials I already had on hand or things I could buy locally, so it was a little scuffed, but it was a really fun multimedia project.

Reinako is my favorite pairing of the inner senshi, but I don't know if I have ever drawn them together before this! I chose a version of their costumes from the manga since this musical is roughly based on the manga continuity.
(By the way, the show was incredible and the performers did an amazing job!! Using light sticks during the "fanservice"/encore performances at the end was so much fun too)

I included some in progress photos with a little commentary :3 When I have time, I'd like to make more decorations like this for some of my other favs...

The winning prompt for March was "New OC Design: A butch adult magical girl who is cool and handsome (and maybe has a sword)"!
I designed her (mostly) on stream yesterday! You can watch the video playback here. I was so excited that this prompt that I added to the poll was picked, so thank you so much to everyone who voted for it!!

Her hero name is Bright Lily, and she does indeed use some kind of flowery sword as a weapon, which I want to design as well. She also needs a civilian form at some point.
As far as gender goes, I've been using she/her, but I think she prefers to present in an androgynous way and is fine with any pronouns. Their hero form is definitely more "futch", but I imagine they'd dress in masculine clothes most of the time while in civilian form similar to Sailor Uranus.
Also, she needs a girlfriend, so add that to list of things Coming Soon(TM)!

If you think of any ideas for her civilian name, or maybe everyday outfits etc, please drop them in the comments! I'd love to see them.

I hope you all like them as much as I do! Also, I've already started working on the runner-up prompt, which is "a new bug girl for neela to kiss (maybe an orchid mantis or something?)". I had to go with an orchid mantis because the idea is too good to pass up. Look forward to that next! <3

what's been goin' on with me!

Hi everyone! I have a few quick updates on what I’ve been up to lately, and then a slightly longer update regarding my health.

Firstly, I’ve begun streaming artwork on Twitch as of about a month ago! I don’t have a mic set up so I don’t talk on stream yet, but I do have a little mascot character (just some basic pngtuber stuff right now). He's the little purple guy in my icon here now. I guess this makes me a Vtuber??? Or maybe I will be one officially when I start talking on stream sometimes?? It's fun having a little guy to represent me.

I really enjoy being able to chat with people while I work, when I’d otherwise just be sitting my myself and going hours without really talking to people. I’d love for you to come check out the streams if you haven’t already! You can also watch the VODs for past streams and see what I’ve been working on. (At least the purely SFW stuff!) I’ve also begun to use Picarto for NSFW art again, although I no longer have a partnership with them like I did a few years back, so there’s no VODs of past streams unfortunately.

Some of the work that I’ve been streaming has been a couple big projects that are still ongoing: a stream background commission for my friend Cereza, and a Vtuber model for Tetsuo!  The background commission has been a challenging but very fun project. I’ll be creating animations for it, and there will be multiple different scenes she can toggle between, like a desk scene for game streams and a BRB screen, etc. I’m about halfway done with it: the base illustration of the room is complete! It might take a little while before everything is finished, but I’m excited to see it all come together.
Tetsuo’s Vtuber model has also been in progress for a few months now, and things are starting to come together nicely! If you’re interested, come by sometime to watch me work! 💜

For the longer update regarding health and stuff:

I’ve mentioned the situation with my mental health a couple times here and wanted to speak about it again because I finally was able to get in for a new mental health evaluation in January. Starting early last year, I had begun to suspect that I have been dealing with PTSD, and I finally got an “official” diagnosis. Having my experiences validated has been a big step forward – I finally feel like I have some explanation for why previous treatment of depression and anxiety symptoms has never helped me much. The psychiatrist I spoke with said that I don’t actually meet the diagnostic criteria for depression and anxiety, and that PTSD with dissociation/depersonalization is what I’ve been dealing with.

Since January, I’ve been making a lot of progress with my self-care, but it can still be very overwhelming and at times debilitating. My PTSD is closely connected to my chronic physical health conditions, and flareups of pain often coincide with the PTSD symptoms that I experience. Dissociation and depersonalization have been my “coping mechanisms” for this pain and trauma for so long (though it doesn’t help me at all). Especially in 2023 and 2024, I struggled with feeling like I was at all connected with my body or my own personality and thoughts, and often completely shut down from communication with friends and loved ones.

This also extended to my art, and whether I felt comfortable or even able to post my artwork at all. I had gotten so afraid of being vulnerable to criticism simply by being visible and putting any of my words or artwork out there for someone to see, even though I have so many wonderful people who care about the art that I create. It often felt like being perceived, let alone criticized, was something I mentally and physically couldn’t handle. Often, I would just push myself to my limit to get commissions done, but then be afraid of posting them, and was even more afraid of creating things for myself if I didn’t feel like they had some kind of “work value.”

I’ve described some of these problems here in the past, but now I understand exactly how much it’s been affecting my life and preventing me from living genuinely. I think it’s important for me to talk about this, because I am not just an anonymous person that only makes artwork for public approval, and my experiences and my health have shaped the kind of artist that I am and the kind of things I care about creating.
I still have a ways to go when it comes to unlearning the negative coping mechanisms and the shame, but I’m proud of the fact that I’m trying to change.

To summarize my thoughts: I want to be more visible and share more of the things I like with you all, and hopefully make more art and post more than I did last year! I’m a bit behind on the posting part still, but I’m making slow progress!

Streaming has been really helpful in breaking out of my shell lately, and dropping Twitter as the main method of sharing my artwork and switching to Bluesky has helped a lot too. And although I’ve been very quiet there in the past, I do want to mention that I’ve been more active on my patreon/art discord server, so I recommend popping in from time to time if you’d like to see more frequent updates about my art, and/or to chat in an LGBTQ+ safe space.

 Finally, thank you all as always for your patience with me – I know I’ve been slow with the Patreon polls and other posts, but I always hope that I can make it worth the wait. I hope it doesn’t come off as insincere because I feel like I say it often, but I really am grateful to all of you for being here!! Your support means so much to me and has kept me going through all the difficult times. I’m looking forward to sharing more things with you all 💜

A set of artwork that I created in 2023 for Studio Élan's own Patreon page! I was tasked with drawing three different couples from their games. I also redid the first image in this set yesterday because I felt like I could improve on it, so I attached the 2023 version of it too. (The original 3 works were all commissioned by the studio.)

Happy stream anniversary to my Vtuber Child and friend Cereza! (2/20)
I made this because Cereza approached me with the idea of getting some of my illustrations printed as her merch, and she pointed out a specific piece I did in 2023 as one of her favorites. (The pose and outfit is a reference to Patchouli Knowledge from Touhou, specifically a reference to an iconic Patchouli portrait by the artist alphes.)
I attached the old version to this post in case you haven't seen it!

Originally, I just wanted to change the colors and contrast to make the art more "readable" from a distance, but I ended up redoing the whole thing. 😅 I'm happy I did, though, because I think I've improved a lot in these past few years and I'm very proud of how this turned out.

Happy 15th anniversary to Heartcatch Precure (as of February 7th)!! That means I've been a Precure fan for at least that long!

I actually had this WIP sitting around for a long time and had been meaning to finish it, but I just recently put the last touches on it and added a background. I really wanted to make something nice with these two characters, because they've been special to me for... well, 15 years now!

When I have some more time, I'd like to make something pretty for Cure Sunshine and Cure Moonlight as well. And I want to make fanart for the currently airing seasons... （；´д｀）I'm glad that I've begun to embrace making fanart for myself again lately, but it also feels like unleashing the floodgates, because there's so many things to catch up on! I'm sure some of you can relate to that feeling.
Regardless, I hope some of you magical girl fans (or fellow pink and blue color combo enjoyers) like this one!!

A commission I just completed for Froginata! Europa is an original character meant to fit in with the pegasus knights of the Fire Emblem series.
It was fun to make a character design and outfit that meshes with an existing world. I also designed her pegasus and her weapon! Both of those were firsts for me, so I'm really proud of how this ref sheet turned out.

The winning prompt for December was "Transgirl werewolf turning her girlfriend (t4t?)" - and I decided to run with it a little and make an adoptable for the prompt!
This gal can shapeshift into a full werewolf form, but her default state is this half(?)-human form. I really wanted to design some clothes too, so this character design ended up being focused on her outfit.

Although I did start sketching a full anthro werewolf form for her, I decided to put the adoptable up as-is so that I can move on to working on the bonus illustration.

(This character now belongs to Lydia! She also has commissioned me to complete the werewolf design, so look forward to that as well :D)
 
I've started working on the illustration with her and another character already - I decided to let one of my other OCs be her girlfriend for this piece, so I hope you all enjoy that when it comes out! 👀

Originally I was going to do an Christmas themed illustration for the bonus poll (because I felt bad for the poll being pretty late for Christmas orz)...but I saw that the runner up was "Roarke finishes one of his Pokemon yuri fanart WIPs" instead, which made me super happy 🥺💜

I've had this sketch floating around for a few months, as well as multiple other Pokemon fanart WIPs, because I want to make a fanbook of pokeyuri illustrations... It's been moved to the backburner because I just don't have enough funds to spend time doing that instead, but it's still something I want to make! Many of these pairings are ones I've loved since I was a kid, but just have never gotten around to drawing.
So I'm grateful to everyone who encouraged me to finish this by voting on the poll!

precure fanart! 💖✨

Some fanwork I've done recently!
Precure is my comfort series! I've been trying to spend a some more time drawing things that make me happy when I have time, especially after the loss of my beloved kitty last month. I think it's definitely been helping at least a little bit (❁´◡`❁)
I know some folks may not be interested, but for those that are I thought I'd post it here as well 💜

The second image is fanart for the upcoming sequel to Mahoutsukai Precure / Witchy Precure! Cure Miracle and Cure Magical will get to be adult magical girls in it, and I'm so excited for Precure to finally get a sequel like this. I just recently finished watching season one, and I highly recommend it if you like stuff like Little Witch Academia.

The first illustration is Cure Nyammy and Cure Lillian from Wonderful Precure! Cure Nyammy is my current favorite character in the series and her birthday is on December 21st, so I really wanted to finish it in time :3
(You may have seen the unfinished version in my Vgen banner and stuff; I drew it a few months ago and I liked how it looked unshaded, but I decided to render it and I'm happy with how it turned out 💖)

VV Vermilion version 2!

Hey all! I'm a little late in posting this (it's been a really busy past couple of months so I'm behind on posts in general), but one of the big projects I have been working on is VV's version 2 PNGtuber model!

For anyone who's not familiar, I made a Live2D model for VV back in 2020, which was the first Vtuber I had ever made! This model was made to celebrate her streaming anniversary, which was on December 13th. 🦇✨
 It's not rigged in Live2D but instead using software that animates the model and lets you flip between talking/closed mouth/closed eyes/etc. I made a ton of different expressions and and a few poses to go with them, and I'm really happy with how she came out!
It's the first time I've done a PNGtuber that is full-body and relatively detailed. I also kind of set things up so it could be converted into Live2D in the future, if we wanted to do that!

I have also been working on another Live2D model, which I will post about Soon(tm)! I'll continue to work on getting back on track with my posting schedule. Thank you to everyone for your support, as always (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)
