Fungal Underground

I wanted to make something exotic and alien looking. The idea behind this pack, is that you are under surface of the desolate planet, where you discovered a web of corridors and huge expansive caverns with alien fungus growing all over the place! Pools of liquid here are not filled with lava, but with fungal secretion / glowing spores mixing together with the water source.

Cacti Desert

Cacti Desert

I've worked on some cactus pictures recently, because to my suprise I've discovered, I haven't used those anywhere yet! I've made a desert/arid layout, with some water pools to make things look more pleasant and I used those cacti on the newest biome! I hope the layout here will be fun to use!

Night City Suburbs

I'm posting Night City Suburbs package! You can mix it up with previous Night City maps to a limited extend, because original Night City is not symetrical on map borders, and there are also some height differences between it's inner border and outer one. A middle border of both packs is compatible in this case, so Night City Suburbs A right border will fit Night City B left border if you want to connect those!

Take care when printing maps! Printers tend to make physical printouts a lot darker than the picture you can see on the screen. To try countering this effect, I made printing versions of this biome very bright and less vibrant. It looks quite odd, but it should make colors look more similar to what you see on the screen than if you were to print out a base image.

Have fun with the biome!

Night City Suburbs

I'm working on another district for Night City biome! It took me a while, because I'm working on this pack since last few weeks, but I'll be posting it soon! This time the number of neon signs is a bit more toned down, but I've added a couple of new building types and a new layout to make things feel different! I'll be also testing out new Overpass hex type, where you can drive through a tunnel below or walk on a road above it!

I've called this one Suburbs, because there is a lot of park space, channels with water and residential areas + some industrial sectors with generators and power plants, so it should feel like this less densely populated area of the huge metropolis!

Burning Forest: Lava Pools - Grassland Connector

I'm posting Burning Forest connector pack between Lava Pools and Grasslands themed maps. I've used Shrubs labels on some of hexes, those are supposed to give only 1/2 of forest line of sight cover and give no penalty to movement at all. Some of forests here are aflame, so they act both like Fire and Forest hexes at the same time!

Burning Forest: Lava Pools - Grassland Connector

I'm working on a new connector biome. The idea here, is to make a connector between Lava Pools pack and universal Grassland type of maps (I've put Dragon Moutains here, on the example picture), by doing this burning forest that is slowly being eaten up by fire, and the grass turning into ashes. This needs some more work, but I will make 4 usual sheets, so it can work as the usual standalone biome too.

Caldera

I'm posting Caldera map pack! Not much to say about that, besides what I wrote last time! I hope the layout will be fun to use - the landscape is quite open, but there are also some good spots to hide, so the terrain features should be balancing each other.

Meantime, I'm working on a cityscape. This will be big, so it might take me some time to finish things up! Stay tuned!

Caldera

I'm working on a new desert biome. While checking out some older maps I've made, I've noticed it's been a while since I last made a pack with some larger landmark features you see the best when you combine all sheets. So I figured out, it might be cool to make this round Caldera pack.

Maps are going to have this strong division between lower and upper levels, with higher levels being more dry than lower ones. With arranging sheets differently, it can also work as a huge mountain ridge in the middle.

Damp Forest

I'm posting Damp Forest biome! Hopefully the layout here will be interesting to use! A lot of map features are blocking free movement between parts of the map, forcing you to either go around or to travel through a hard terrain, like hills, lakes or forests.

Damp Forest

I'm working on a new swampy area with a lot of shallow pools of water and hill ranges. I wanted the layout of this place to be cover-heavy, by make those narrow corridors between hills and giving an option to submerge inside one of those small lakes to hide. I've done a lot of green water swamps already, so I figured out adding a swamp biome with blue water for a change might be a good idea!

Methane Hell

I'm posting Methane Hell map pack! I wanted the biome to be this alien rocky landscape with a river full of flamable liquid (hence I've marked some hexes as on fire, where parts of the landscape would be ignited). The map is an open one with a lot of exposed flatland and some receses giving a cover, but the main idea behind the layout, was to make the river as the main terrain feature you interact with / are forced to interact with, due to lack of safe covers.

Connector - Grasslands/Badlands

I'm posting new connector map set! At the moment it connects Grassland maps with:

Badlands A , Badlands B, Badlands C, Badlands D - but I will definitely expand it in the future, adding some more dirt themed maps.

It wouldn't be a perfect match, because texture and color of those biomes is different, but theme-wise, some other dirt maps to consider, that would more or less fit would be Tropical Lava maps.

Connector - Grasslands/Badlands

The new biome is going to be another connector biome (I think it's interesting to add those from time to time) - this time between regular grasslands and badlands. There isn't a big compability chart between biomes here yet, because Badlands maps consists out of only a single pack biome, but I would like to expand it in the future!

Ice Crystal Lands

I'm posting Ice Crystal package! I've used "hanging" labels on hexes with giant ice crystals. I wanted those hexes to be of dual use - allowing you to get on top of the icy structure, or to walk below it. I wanted a layout of this map has this open feel with ice crystals serving as vantage points for targeting your enemy, but at the same time giving a way to adjust your position and to hide from sight if you are on a ground level. There are lots of cliff walls you can stick to and water you can submerge in. Besides ice crystals, I didn't use "ice" as labeling, because I thought it would be annoying - if used, probably most of the map should be treated as such.

I wanted to work on something more alien looking. I've utilized the concept from very early winter maps I used with ice crystals, but I've made a new biome around it (previously, it was a singular sheet, and it was more winter / natural looking).

Green Shrublands

Just a quick update. I will still be posting a regular map next week, but I've made a bonus alternative version of one of the older biomes - Shrublands. It's basically the same layout and labeling, but it's greener and less dry, as if it was the same place but during a different season.

Industrial City Center

I'm posting new city biome! Hopefully the layout of this one will be interesting - good to work on something industrialized. 

In the future, I have some more plans for urban stuff, but it will take some time to make new graphics and figure out how to pull of some features! I would really want to make a cityscape utilizing tunnels and overpasses, so you can use both upper and lower level of the same hex, depending on what you want to do. It might lose on some readibility, but I think it would work pretty cool.

Industrial City Center

Did someone mention Industrial City? :P

I'm working on additional maps for Industrial City biome - new sheets should fit previous biome and make mixing up those two easy. This new pack has a different layout and some new features. I've put some toxic pools being spewed by industrial factories and buildings, made a bigger usage out of pavements and concrete plazas and added more greenish lighting coming from buildings, to make the biome feel more heavily industrialized.

Winter Settlements

I'm working on at winter landscape (also compatible with earlier Winter-Grassland map connector, because I've noticed there isn't a big choice there, when it comes to the winter side). I've named it Winter Settlements, but settlements here are just small outposts with buildings that may serve as good objectives for scenarios being research labs, civilian sectors or some small military training posts to fight over. There will be also one sheet with no such elements and buildings, just natural terrain to give some more freedom on how you want to mix and arrange those maps.

Stay tuned! After I finish this biome, I will put some work into more urban areas.

Rocky Desert

I'm posting Rocky Desert biome! I've made two types of hill hexes - one is a regular flat highland, the other is a pile of rocks or a rock formation, which allows you to move higher, but it also makes your movement harder - a rougher terrain than usually.

I'm making a new map set to work together with Desert Fortifications from a bit while ago! This time all natural terrain, so you can mix up a sheet including a base or set of walls with an unhabitated desert zone. This is going to be an open map, but with many rocky formations to provide cover.

I'm posting Forest Hills biome! I hope the layout here will be fun to use. Initially I wanted to add even more forest hexes, but map objects were too cluttered so I made it a bit more open.

Forest Hills

I'm working on a forest map with a lot of hills. I wanted the layout to look a bit like a labyrinth of narrow forested canyons between high hills, a bit similar in style to tunnel maps - but with the possibility to climb on top of this higher terrain. 

As an additional obstacle, I've put some giant tree markers on the map with almost infinite height to serve as those huge pillars blocking the view, even if you are on top of the hill. There should be a lot of cover on this map and a lot of opportunities for ambushes!

Connector - Winter/Grasslands

I'm posting a connector map set for Winter and Grasslands. I've checked what sets are compatibile with this connector in terms of layout and texture, here is the list:

That being said, Dragon Moutains would look rather odd when adding it by connector to winter biomes, as one is winter and the other one is tropical! It's a shame there aren't more maps that could work in that way, but I will keep the connector in mind next time I work on something either grassland or winter themed, to add something more to the combo list.

Connector - Winter/Grasslands

I wanted to make some connector maps between different biomes, so those can be mixed together. Previously, I've only did that between grasslands and desert. Not all biomes can be connected, as it would be just a connector between 2 different particular map packs then, not something more global (due to differences in textures or layouts), but I've found an opportunity to connect Winter and Grassland themes with no half-hexes and mismatching textures - multiple map packs should work with this one!

Will be finishing that up before the new year!

Tidying up

I've used this new patreon feature that allows you to make collections of posts to organize map sets into categories for easier browsing (categories like Swamps, Deserts, Winter etc.). There are some leftover biomes that are not present in any of those categories, because they didn't fit, but I feel like it's way more organized now.
