Inktober 2019 comments [2/5]

Continuing on!

I decided to cheat on Enchanted- and planned to cheat on others as well, that instead of making a picture from the ground up, I'd finish one I started before. So one of yall patrons was waiting on this lady for quite some time, and I took the day to color her complete. Somehow her color work was more time consuming than most of the pictures I did this month. The result is good tho so I guess I can't complain.

Then the next prompt confused me, I'm not exactly an arteeeeesst, Im just an illustrator so I didn't want to picture Frail as some female figure with swirls or flowers or that kind of artistic BS, sorry, but that's exactly what I thought at the time. So I wanted a character instead, and Castile came to mind. She actually heals up and becomes an usable character in Makai Kingdom, but when she first appears in Phatom Brave she's just a sick kid. And the way they picture that is real good. So I took the chance and used it to picture this character from this old old game that no one knows about~

I had planned for this picture for when Bear would stream Death Stranding- and I got almost everything right. The angle is right, the animations is eh, okay, and I'll still add colors later but... The one thing I couldn't get right is what made me use it for this prompt. Swing- I couldnt make the teddy swing around due to the walking. I felt so dumb at the end of the day lol but I guess I can fix it until DS actually comes out... So yea. Swing, not pictures :^) but I dont care, submitted anyway.

And then for Pattern someone gave me this great idea and I screwed it, I couldnt get anything right. I'm not real good at drawing angry men, or crazy men, so drawing Majima only worked on profile. And then his jacket- I actually took the patter from another artist who happened to make it. I couldn't reproduce it the way I wanted so I... used theirs. 

... I feel bad but they said it was free to use so I don't feel as bad as I could be lel. So this pic was legit lazy. I should have done a chibi or whatever.

Snow sends my brain many ways, but it pulls me one direction the hardest, which is Eirween. She's an OC who was born? Created? as a Yuki Onna at first, a snow yokai. She's developed into something else as the years went by, but she'll always be my beautiful snow baby. 

When I created her I was in highschool and I was going through a real big urge to make my current OCs have a... face. Yes, a face, yknow? Not a generic animu face, I wanted them to be recognizable, I wanted their features to be stable. But I didn't have the skills yet... But somehow, I think by the sheer force of will, her face looks real similar to what it did before. So I'm proud of that. The clothes were lazy pics tho~

So, this inktober I decided to ~~*/'/**~ N E T W O R K ~**/'/*~~ and I went out looking at what other people were drawing, so I could know what not to do :^) and also to find smoller artist who could use me loving. And I found some smols, I found some bigs, and I found this amazing person who did crazy good robot art! I was so fascinated by their work that I wanted to try to color just like them.

I was planning to use Dragon to cheat but it didn't work so I linearted a Getter Dragon and asked permission to color it just like said artist. They said go for it so I did, a few days later. I'm not completely satisfied? I gotta practice some more, but I'd say not a bad start either.

One thing I forgot was how I started this page right before inktober on 2017- so yes, we're two year old peoples!

... And I'm sorry I've been so out of it. I have to finish uni, and tho many of you have been understanding and I'm thankful for that, I can't shake the feeling that I should be trying harder to give yall what you ask for when you came here. So I'm sorry. But also thankyou for those who stay! Again, I'm not holding against anyone for leaving.

Anyway onto the comments! And Happy anniversary- late, I guess.

I'm trimming this post into 5 little ones? just so I dont have to post 37- yes 37 pictures cuz of the alt versions, at the same time. So pick the block you wanna read!

This year I decided to follow the official inktober list, because I've never done that before... And I regret it greatly lol I mean, at the end, I did a lot of cool stuff, but the pictures are all over the place, I think I'd have been happier with a more narrow theme, like last year's giant robits.

And I usually will slap my own character there when Im in doubt- mostly because I can see her doing preeeetty much anything. So for the first prompt, Ring, while I thought of robits and even alien designs to match, I started simple with an evil Half acting all supperior-like.

At that point I decided I wanted to do pictures mostly in black and white, save for some details. As yall know, I failed miserably :3 but hey- I guess thats fine. For Mindless I did a robit design, one that I had sketched before (this time in rage mode). It was fun to draw it again, some details changed but I still really like it. I might pick it up later as well to continue to improve on it.

Then Bait came and I was like, oh yea I had to do simple stuff, and since Bear was streeman Dragon Quest XI at the time, I used an enemy I really liked that is the Succubat. And I said- hey I should use a color scheme- so I picked one and I hated it so I ended up with those two versions.

Freeze was really disappointing, I had this cute idea of a chibi Velkhana from monhun, but obviously it didnt look like it for the lack of details... So its cute, but doesnt look like what its supposed to look like. I was rpetty sad, and this picture is what broke the charm of the list for me, yea that early. I should have picked something else. Hell, I considered Leon from resident ebil pointing a gun saying Freeze lol that would have been much better.

The the next picture made it all better as I got to fanart the previous DQ game Bear did, Builders 2, which I absolutely loooooooooooved to deth! As yall know, I love bad guys with feelings :^) and this game used that real well. So I made cute fanart cuz of the Build prompt and was a happy kid.

Husky was harsh since I didnt want to do the obvious thing and opted for a 'rough' or 'stronk person' meaning instead. At the same time, the word still gave me a cold feeling so I was thinking of something with a bit of an ice theme behind, and people halped me remember Vulcan Raven from Metal Gear Solid. The picture isnt amazing? But he's not a handsome guy, so I guess in the end its what I could do.

August & September patron choice picture

I dunno if I'll be doing this every two months, and I come to the realization that picture quality might drop due to my lack of time. 

BUT I also realized I like one specific coloring style I do... And that will help me in the long run. It's clean and easy to do, and fits my linearts well... So if I stick to that, all I need to figure out now is backgrounds :P And I've gotten myself in a project thats forcing me to draw places more often. Yay~

And from what I talked about with some people in the server, I'm still at uni and I've been trying to dedicate myself to it a bit more in order to finally finish it- and finally be able to art full time. But, even dedicating some more time, its not enough... So I'll have to cut my time in this page even more.

I understand if anyone would like to stop supporting me, now you have the reason to, I will hold nothing against you, in fact I'd be happy to know you guys are taking care of yourselves as well. So yea, do what you gotta do if you want. If you wanna stay- I would obviously appreaciate it, and I'll be forever thankful, as I already am. I'm really sorry I haven't been able to give you guys the content I've wanted to.

Anyway, I'll be poking around the page a bit to reflect the situation in the rewards and  stuff. I'll still be arteen, of course, just not as often as I'd want to.

Again, I'm sorry. Thank you for being with me until now, yall have no idea how much you've helped me.

HBSO Sketches

So this will sound awful but I forgot why this was called HBSO until I looked it up on my server and realized its cuz someone called it "Half-Baked Star Odyssey" and now I love it again, it makes me super happy.

Okay I tried sketching most of the suggested characters. I have something in mind for some of them. Obviously Im not a story telling genius, so I'll focus on some people more than others. I also need a bigger crew lol so I'll have to come up with new people (and some disposable people) later.

I'm pretty hype to draw all of them so much they turn out completely different/simpler lol. I'll need some halp choosing some names eventually.. And yall's criticism a bit. Just a bit. As yall know, while this is a big project, its also my first and its mostly for practice purposes.

I was gonna fill this page with some info on each of the characters but turns out I dont have much info at all, just ideas related to story points, and I dont really wanna spoil those. If  you do wanna hear me talk about them tho, do ask and I'll try to say as much as I can.

As for spess suits, these are my first attempts- I wanna take these and be more daring with shapes in the future, keeping a feel like, convenient tech, where its soooomewhat similar to what we have today but also all the hard to deal stuff like oxygen and fuel conveniently takes less space than usual.

I'm trying not to take the technical bits too seriously cuz I'm no real engineer and, really, what I create will just be moved by magic, I'm unable to create anything 100% realistic and actually functional. So I'll just focus on looks and try to make it somewhat believable.

I'm sorry I couldn't deliver exactly the pose you guys wanted, but I feel this one at least works like a character sheet... Of sorts.

The perspective is still all wrong and it bites me, but I like the result regardless. Aside what might look like- I planned for a background like this, I think I kinda managed to do what I wanted even if it looks a bit lazy. It's sketchy, and tho it doesn't fit het pose or colors... I think it fits me as a person lol

Everyone wanted the Kira so here she is. I had a pinup idea, but the simpler positions looked way better... It's weird. Maybe I should practice perspective more.

I have a love and hate relationship with that hair, I think it gives her a robit look like in the game, but it's not quite what I had planned to do... Do I get a star for trying?

As for the music/CD/album Shine Spark cover attempts, I followed some of yalls advices to reference Metroid, but also to reference the Getter team and.. it ended up weird but amusing too, so I guess we'll roll with that.

March of Robots

I was originally gonna spam the crap out of everyone and post 16 different robits, but I decided against it lol. If you follow me on social media you probably seen these.

I started the month wanting to do simple pictures of robits seen full body, and then go a lot of different series so people could know more robots- But then I got SICK.

And it ruined everything. All of my pace? Gone.

And I tried to recover doing 2 SDs per day, but I got quickly exhausted, aside other real life stuff getting in the way... So in the end, I got half of the robits I wanted to get done in the month. 

I'm glad I switched to SDs, cuz they look way more expressive and better... Might wanna repeat the experience at some point. Also I may or may not have been very influenced by an artist who draws SDs with their eyes like the SD gundams. So... These happened. They make me very happy.

St. Celestine

This one was pretty interesting. I sketched her on a smol notebook in class. Looked pretty good until I went to digital realized it not great... So I restarted drawing her- with more references this time.

And with the references I got a better feel of what Celestine was actually about. So I pictured this orange burning background with her in the middle... It wasn't quite like this but it was close.

Im pretty happy with the result.

Spess Vampire-chan Sivil

So.

As one of the winners from last month I felt I had to draw Sivil- and between all winners I felt a lot of difficulty to get art going. I barely knew her and I think the shock from having to go back to uni got to me, giving me an art block.

I tried some shots from above but everything seemed meh and uninteresting... I was just making poses I've done before. So I was like, screw it-

And I did this.

... Yay~

It turned out pretty good and really cheered me up. Surprisingly the arm behind her gave me some trouble, but it turned out pretty reasonable overall.

Canaan and Maria

Because of a lil issue with my schedule we didn't have a pool this month- but there were very few options so... I decided to do a lil thing for all of them. 

Maria Osawa was requested, from the visual novel 428 Shibuya Scramble, which was played by one of my patrons on stream- It was super fun to watch, it's a really well written story- And possibly with Canaan, her friend.

I didn't remember, however, how Canaan looked. So I went for the looks they have in the anime Canaan instead.

Canaan's outfit did remind me of another character tho, and the fact that Maria was blond really fit the idea. So I changed the picture a bit to make a reference to Disgaea 2! Canaan as Adell and Maria as Rozalin. It turned out pretty cute, if not a lil weird.

Elehayym Van Houten

Because of a lil issue with my schedule we didn't have a pool this month- but there were very few options so... I decided to do a lil thing for all of them.

Elly was requested along with her gear, since she has two I decided to pick the first one, Vierge. The coloring style is a bit different, I wanted to give the robit a dreamy feel.. It didn't quite work, but the experience was worth it.

I tried to get creative... I really did. I also didn't want to do a normie portrait of a big boobed lady (again) this month so... This came out. I actually kinda like it and it was pretty fun to make.

Emma Sheen doesn't usually have her hair this long, but I took some artistic liberties~

I think the style looks pretty good, I had to take the colors from an existing picture, which is why they look decent lol, but this was very fun to do. I really considered doing some other expressions for her since this looks like a sprite of sorts.

Starting with Eir! The picture was pretty plain without the effects but I didn't know how to add them correctly... It turned out a bit weird, but not exactly bad. I hope I can figure out simple compositions better soon.

I survived. I'm really happy with the quality and style in these, I think 90% of them came out pretty easily and nice, the rest wasn't as fortunate... I tried, I swear.

19 out of 22 patrons. I couldn't finish them all... Sorry.

This reward makes me reconsider the rules on the poll lol never again this many characters.

Please let me know if you need a transparent version or a trim/resize.

This is a cutom konig monster somewhere in the SD spectrum lol, I think it turned out kinda adorable.

This is a very refreshing design after some of the previous detailed ones lol. The VF-1S Valkyrie is really cute but also wouldn't work chibi as it'd lose its ability to turn into a jet... 

Inktober 25 - Gunleon

I actually streamed the process of this lineart annnd it took me 3.5 hours... Not counting the coloring. I am very tired... But it was very worth it~ 

This one is probably one of the best pieces of the month!

Inktober 24 - Bellzerute

I think I ended up making this one toooo thin... Tho the suit is thin originally, maybe not this much. Oh well, it lacks weapons so that might be why. 

Inktober 23 - Soulgain

What a weird robot... That being said, I got some details wrong... But it has so many organic bits, it looks pretty unique. 

Inktober 22 - Weiss Ritter

From the same place as the two previous ones, he Weiss Ritter and the Alt Eisen make a real nice couple. They're really different tho, which makes it even better.

Inktober 21 - Alteisen

I didn't even know what I was doing at this point.

Also I dunno if the name of this suit is Alteisen or Alteisei so lets go with either. 

Inktober 20 - Grungust Type 0

This is from Super Robot Wars Original Generation, and it has a really crazy design with a sword bigger that it is. Which is amazing. I somehow pulled it off... Couldn't draw the whole robit tho. 

Apparently everyone liked this one even tho in my honest opinion it's a bit messy.
