We made it through the hurricane!

I wanted to let you all know we are okay! Hurricane Ian wasn't too bad for where we are in Orlando, Florida. We lost power Wednesday night and are still waiting on it to be restored. It's estimated to come back on Sunday. We packed some October Noodle Mail last night by candlelight as that's about all we can do with no power haha

Here's a hairless cat I painted before the storm! Hoping to get back on my painting schedule when the power returns, as I've been recording the whole process while I paint and I can't use up my phone's battery right now doing that.

August Noodle Mail! The Fascinators

I made a new painting of my cats, starring Haku! I might make this a series of 4 paintings with each cat swapping out as the star while the rest are in the background on the shelf. I'll also swap the colors in each painting too

We just finished packing & shipping all the puzzle preorders yesterday! 🎉 We're now packing August Noodle Mail and aim to ship it out by Monday, August 8th.

Puzzles will restock next week and I'll be adding a few new items to the shop as well! :3

Now that the preorders of the prints & puzzles are complete, I'll be able to switch gears and focus on painting again. I will be working on the 50+ commissions on the waitlist (now closed) alongside starting another group painting similar to The Chorus. There's so many themes to choose from! Should I make a poll on here for what idea seems the most exciting/interesting? What options should be included?

my first animation!

June/July Noodle Mail and The Chorus update :3

Hi Noodle friends!

We've been working hard packing all the preorders we got for The Chorus prints. It's just been me, Noodle Dad, Noodle Dad's brother and my good friend Sarah doing our best to pack 2,500+ preorders!! We're almost there and should have them all sent out by mid June. :)

After all the preorders are sent out, prints will be back in stock in the shop and preorder for puzzles can begin!

May Noodle Mail + sneak peak items

Hi Noodle friends!

Once I'm able to afford a bigger studio space (hopefully soon!), I'll be able to paint in a larger scale again. Each cat in The Chorus is only about 2" in person, the full painting is 16x20". I'd love to try painting a version where each cat face is at least 12".

Many things are to come in the future, including my first solo show this May in Orlando, FL! If you happen to live close by, I'll know the date soon (it'll be a one night event). I'll be sure to record it and post a video for everyone else to see! :)

Next Month's Noodle Mail

I just finished these yesterday and I'm so excited about them haha

The first image is a teeeeny 2x2" painting. It'll be a 1x1" holographic sticker (patreon exclusive) for March. I think I'll be having an original painting sale once I have enough of these little paintings together. :3

The second design is for our first patches!! They'll be part of March's Noodle Mail and available on my Etsy later.

The third design is of the special 2 year pin I'll be sending out to my patreons who reach 2 years of being subscribed!! 🎉 A few of you have reached this milestone this month, so I'll be sending them out asap when they arrive. It's wild that it's been 2 years since I first started Patreon, but I feel like I just keep improving it as I go. Commissions! ✨(Closed Now)

I've had custom portrait commissions closed for about a year, but I'm ready to open limited commissions exclusively for my patreons!!

Previously I have struggled to enjoy the painting process for commissions, but I'm hoping with these set limits I can enjoy painting them again with less stress and be able to give y'all some custom artwork. :) 

Guidelines for the commissions:

-only one commission per patreon

-the commissions are one subject acrylic paintings on 3.5x3.5" clayboard panel for $250 USD each (free shipping for US included)

-must be an active patreon (any tier) upon emailing interest and remain an active patreon while on the waitlist to qualify for the acceptance of commission. Cancellation of patreon subscription forfeits your place in line on the waitlist

-I will respond to your email interest with your placement number on the waitlist

-I will be scheduling commission paintings for this year up to the 200th patreon on the waitlist, then any further interest will be scheduled for the following year ***Edit: I only accepted about 50 commissions, as my pace in completing them has been very slow***

-1/2 payment is paid upfront when I’m ready to accept your commission

-remainder of payment is paid upon completion of commission and I will send you the tracking number

-(optional) email me photos of the actual subject next to the painting! :3

If you’re interested in a commission please email me “Commission for [your name]” in the subject/text box srebecca.art@gmail.com.  No need to rush to find reference photos immediately, just reply to your email later with them and any specific requests/questions for the piece.

meowing cats + patreon sale + important reminders!

The meowing cats painting I've been working on since July 29th, The Chorus (2021) is almost done! I'm a few cats ahead of my posting schedule, so here's a little sneak peak of the current progress (76 cats so far). I hope to finish it this month or the next, and have a preorder listing for prints ready for when it's finished!

Some background info on the painting: I'm not going to fill the whole canvas with cats. In fact, I may be on the last row! The cats I've chosen were selected from fan submissions as well as various known internet cats. I save the photos I like best and choose from there when I'm about to another cat. I don't focus on the background information of the cat as much as the color, shape and expression of the cat when I'm deciding on which one to pick.

Before I started this painting, my art instagram and facebook were both at ~13k followers. Now both of them are over 50k followers each! I'm so very thankful and hope that my art can bring a little happiness into people's lives. I also really appreciate being able to see so many new cats! 🥺❤️

Since I started this painting, I've received at least 100 cat photo submissions a day through my art instagram, facebook, email and the form at the bottom of my new website! rebeccasalinasart.com I know some people will be disappointed that I didn't choose their cat, but I simply can't paint them all. I've really been enjoying the process and can't wait to do more of these paintings in the future (with even more chances for cat submissions!).

I'm planning on graduating this fall with a BFA in Studio Art, Painting. I'll also be part of the BFA show in the UCF gallery, open to the public. So hopefully it all works out and some of you are able to see Raining Cats in person :3 (located in Orlando, Florida). More details as it gets closer. After I graduate, I'll be moving in with Noodle dad in Miami, Florida!

I'm close to completing Raining Cats II. I'd really like to finish up more of their faces (such as Curious Zelda and Owl Kitty's) before I get it scanned and make prints.

Screen prints, unlike digital prints that are produced by photographing original artworks, ARE the original artwork.

fun with screen printing

about the process:

screen printing is a process through which a stencil is created on clear film then taped to a mesh screen with light-sensitive enamel coated on it. light is then exposed to the screen and any parts that were blocked by the stencil can wash away with water while the rest of the enamel that was hit with light hardens. the screen now has the stencil and ink is pushed through the screen with a squeegee.

I made a 14-color screen print series based on the painting of Atlas on my desk. Each color is printed on a separate layer, so I hade to go through the whole process of setting up the screen for printing every 2 colors as that's how many stencils fit on the classroom's screen for my 11x14" print.

I started the Atlas print series on Feb 8th and just completed them today. Earned a lot of screen printing experience through this!

I'm excited to start printing my own shirts using this screen printing technique. I like printing by hand like this!
