Tiers before bedtime

Just a quick update regarding the tiers and whatnot. Bit of a clerical error in terms of setting them up at the start of the month, so they'll be up and active by this Sunday at the latest. Upcoming Changes & Exclusive Content

Hi guys!

Tl;DR (The lord ; da rings): if you don’t change anything, nothing will change – but there will be new tiers.

So, there are a few changes coming up… after three centuries of the lone tip jar tier, I’m going to introduce more! This will come into effect from 1st July 2021 and will hopefully provide those of you who have been kind enough to pledge more than a buck, more bang for it, or at the very least give the option of receiving a little more in the way of exclusive content.

The tiers will also now be in Pound Sterling to help Mrs. Chi fill in tax returns and stuff like that, which unfortunately means that with the Patreon conversion, the $1 tier will go up to $1.50 (I think). However, if you're currently paying $1, you will continue to pay $1, so don't worry!

So, anyway, here are the proposed tiers and their rewards!

£1 ($1.50) – Thank you!

This is pretty much as it stands now. A tip jar that provides access to the occasional early access video, as well as more regular BTS stuff and occasional treats.

£5 ($7.50) – Thank thank you!

The previous rewards + a monthly short trigger video, voted for by you, along with guaranteed early access to Saturday’s videos.

£10 ($14.50) – Thank thank thank you!

Everything from the previous two tiers + one full exclusive video every month and you will get production credits in the video description of the last video of every month. And eventually, once merch is back in business, we will also provide discount codes, etc. for everyone on this tier.

So, overall, I’m keeping it simple with just the three tiers. The reason we’re doing this at all is because I haven’t really shown Patreon as much love as I should have, and I wanted to provide a way for you all to be more involved and get access to things that nobody else does. This is only possible now that Kim (Mrs. Chi) is on board, because her support and help is allowing me more time to not just make better content, but to be a better person – so you can expect posts and things from her too, like monthly polls, and BTS photos. And cats.

Community Update

Hi Guys!

This message will also be posted on YouTube in the next few days but as Patrons we wanted to give you the heads up on some positive changes coming your way.

Over the last two months, Jim and his wife, Kim, have been working together to move forward with the channel and reached out to a community team for advice and support on social engagement. We’re so excited to share these changes with you today in this community announcement!

A lot of you are aware of a situation from Jim’s personal life that became public at the beginning of 2021. Through this, many people were hurt and many grievances within the ASMR community came to light. We’re not ignoring or moving on from those events. Instead, Jim and his family have decided to use what’s happened as the catalyst to affect positive, permanent change and begin a process of healing for Jim, his family, and his fans.

The goal with these changes is to nurture an environment based on accountability, mutual respect, and most importantly: healing. In this announcement, we’ll introduce the new team, explain some of the changes you can expect to see, and answer some main questions we know a lot of you will have for us.

This consists of a team of four, and we’re so excited to get to know all of you. Besides Jim, this team consists of:

- Kim, Jim’s wife and manager. Kim will handle all the businessy stuff.

- Murphy, the Jimち ASMR community manager. You’ll recognize them as Murphy Jimち Mod on Youtube.

- Emmanuelle, the Jimち ASMR social media manager. You’ll recognize them as Emmanuelle Jimち Mod on Youtube.

Developing this team means that Jim will get to focus on his true passion- making the ASMR content that you all love and enjoy. This also means that, for now, Jim will not be in direct contact with fans. This was Jim’s decision, made to keep the wellbeing of himself and his family in mind. Jim and his wife still read and appreciate every subscription, like, and comment; and they are grateful for the enthusiasm and support of his fans.

Another change is that this channel now has community guidelines! (You’ll find these here and in the “About” section of the channel, and they’ll be linked in the description of every video going forward.) These guidelines are meant to foster a healthy community based on mutual respect and accountability. Those guidelines will be enforced by the channel moderators, Murphy and Emmanuelle. You’ll be able to identify them by the usernames we’ve listed above.

We’re so excited to get to know all of you better as we transition into a new and exciting phase of this channel. We’ve put together a short FAQ to cover some common questions. If we haven’t covered your question there, leave a comment and Murphy or Emmanuelle will answer it as best they can.

Q: Why didn’t Jim make a public statement about what happened before now?
A: Jim posted a written apology on Patreon in January. This same apology was posted on Youtube and removed shortly after: this was done to respect the privacy of everyone involved. Jim and his family felt that long-term, transparent, positive change would speak louder than a written apology or apology video.

I wanted to say a huge thank you for all of your ongoing support. And also the kind messages you've been sending me. Please know, my wife and I read every single one, and it means so much to us both. I will absolutely get around to replying when I'm a bit more 'online', but I wanted you all to know how grateful we are. And for all of your support in the comments section too.

Reading some of the supportive and kind things you've said about my wife, about her and how amazing she is... it's just wonderful and it makes such a difference. Some of them may or may not have made her well up too... But, sincerely, thank you.

Thank You All

I wanted to quickly say thank you for all the kind words and support after yesterday's video release. I was exceptionally nervous, and everyone's words of encouragement and kindness meant that I could actually sleep last night. I'm currently still taking a step back from comment interaction where possible, so apologies if I haven't publicly liked your message or thanked you yet. I will definitely get back into the groove soon.

In the meantime, here's video I recorded prior to my hiatus as way of saying thanks for all of your ongoing love and support.

Apology

I am sorry.

I believe that ASMR should be a community dedicated to trust, safety, and healing. I have broken that trust, violated people’s safety, and hurt, rather than heal – all through lies.

I acknowledge what I did wrong, recognise the pain it has caused, and accept blame for what I did. I lied to my wife, lied to the people who I hurt, lied to the community, lied to myself, and I lied to you.

By now everything I have ever said or done has been shared online. We live in an age where people cannot get away with this kind of behaviour, and that is a good thing. I deserve this. If you ever notice behaviour like this in yourself or others, please ask for help.

With the support of my wife, I am currently receiving that help. And with the support of those who I have hurt, and members of the community I have written to or who have reached out, I am working to make amends for the wrongs that I have done.

I am so sorry to everyone I have hurt. Everyone I have wronged. Everyone I have lied to. And everyone I have let down. I am sorry to you.

My first priority is my wife, who, despite everything, has stood beside me and supported me through this. She loves me, and I love her. All I can do is change for the better and make that change real through what I do from this point forward. And that is to make amends.

It will be a long journey, but I hope that you will join me on it, so that together we can realise the mistakes we make don’t define us, but how we correct them does.

I believe that ASMR should be a community dedicated to trust, safety, and healing. I want to rebuild that trust with you, feel safe again, and get the help I need to heal, so that I can help others to heal too. So that I can eventually forgive myself.

I will be donating January’s payments to a mental health charity. I appreciate that those of you who have stood by me during all of this have donated your money to support the content I create, and with your continued support, that content is something I intend to keep creating.

Hi guys,

Just a quick update regarding recent events. Some of you may be aware that I've hurt a number of people in the ASMR community through lies and deceit. To allow time for people to heal, and have their voices heard, I've removed myself from social media, and I'll be taking a break from uploading videos too.

I don't think it's helpful to anyone for me to share 'my side' of things, and I don't want to shout over or invalidate what anyone has to say. Indeed, you're all welcome to tell me just what you feel below. But please know that I'm seeking professional help for my behaviour and am working on how to move forward with my wife.

I want to thank you for your ongoing support. I understand if any of you wish to withdraw your pledge, I will completely understand. Otherwise, in the hiatus on my channel I will continue to share some of the videos I've already recorded here, if you think it's appropriate.

Viking Supercut & Final Part

Heeeeey gang.

I'm still not back on social, but I thought you might like to see the feature length supercut of the Viking videos, much like the Knight series. It may still be processing as it was a massive file, but hopefully it'll be done soon (the SD version is already there).

I won't be publishing this anytime soon, but wanted to share it with you. The final part will be released on Tuesday, but you get a sneaky peeky of Raven the Irish assassin, as it's included in the big cut! Oh, that section also includes a VERY gory prosthetic I made, which I was pretty proud of!

Hello! For my Star Wars series I decided, rather than spending too much money on an average set of mando armour, I would make an average set myself!

This will be episode V, so there's a few more to go before it's out. I'm filming episode IV hopefully today (Jedi Knight), and have already filmed an assassin droid (III) and a Twi'lek (II) pilot.

Once they're all filmed, which might be after the release of the Twi'lek (pic attached) on Saturday, I'll release them all on here for you guys to enjoy before anybody else, as it'll take another month for them to all be released naturally. I'm really happy with how they've turned out, and I'm also quite happy with how the narrative plays out, so I hope you guys like it too!

I'm difficult to work with. I don't like group chats, and if I'm in one I rarely interact. I also dislike micro management and try to encourage people to have faith in their own vision.  So, it's true, I basically shout "just f***ing do it", but I thought it might be nice for you all to see exactly what one of my briefing documents is like!

Festive Friend Stream

Hi guys!

I'm going to be doing my (I guess annual) festive livestream on:

Christmas Eve, the 24th December 2020 (it's a Thursday)

I'm doing it then because of obligations I have on Christmas Day itself. However, I wanted you guys to help me decide what time to do it, as my loose grasp of this concept (time) means I usually choose weird hours of the day. All times are UK time (GMT).

Also, for those wondering - the Palace Mods are having a well-earned break. This means that usual palace rules won't apply during this stream. However, common decency still does, so please be nice!

Anyway, let me know what time works for you all! There will be drinking, lots of channel news and updates, as well as a mysterious box full of treats.

Star Nerd

Hey!

So, I'm putting together a series of Star Wars vids, and one of the characters is a disgruntled, battle-hardened exp-Imp. The armour I found available online was either too cheap and crappy, or too good and expensive. I wanted something lived in and... broken. But not a kid's costume, y'know?

So, yeah, I decided to make it myself. I had some thin EVA foam lying around anyway, so I just sort of pieced it all together with some direction from online tutorials. The result isn't great, but I think it will translate well to film!

You may have seen on insta me being a goofball with an eyeball. Someone asked where I got it, and I actually made it from scrap around my house! So, I thought I'd share how I did. It's so goofy...

Christmas Livestream, Crazy Cache, and Update

Hi guys! And welcome to all the new patrons - thank you all so much! 

Just thought I'd give a quick update.

Christmas Livestream (25th, time TBC)

It's that time of year again, and I know that this festive period will be more difficult and challenging for lots of people around the world - than ever before. So, to hopefully bring some jolly cheer, I'm planning on doing a livestream on Christmas day (haven't decided the time yet). We can share some drinks, I'll chat s**t, talk smack about my colleagues, and we'll also take a look through some of the props I've made over the years that... well, maybe - just maybe - some lucky person will get to own (yep, including the Dracula helmet)? I figure if some of you are going to call me Santa Jesus I should do my best to live up to it. So we'll also be drinking my blood and devouring my doughy body.

Just kidding (about the blood and body bit). But, yeah, it's potentially a pretty crappy time ahead, so I wanted to, if you want to, spend some of the big day with good company. And me, of course.

General Update

I've been a little distant recently, and I apologise for that. I like to welcome new patrons personally, and I haven't been... and I've been lax with m' ajax. There's nothing to worry about, but I've been struggling with old daemons, and the current world climate hasn't helped. 

Plus, I've been working extra hard at the old dayjob as my partner had unfortunate work news not so long ago. So, it's been an adjustment all round and my brain doesn't seem to want to work with my heart right now. I apologise if I continue to be quiet for a bit, but, as we're all going through it right now, the best I could do it just let you know and offer cuddles. Hopefully a livestream will go some way to compensate.

Channel Update

Die Society will continue, but will likely take a 'season break' after two more episodes. This is so I don't burn out creatively with it, and to allow some room for other projects I want you guys to see. 

I'm planning on making a lot more medieval and fantasy based works, as well as some 'classic' vids - one example is 'starving together in a cave ASMR', 'British News', and 'ASMR YouTuber ASMR'. Oh, and, maybe even some old characters will pop back too! 

Also, I'm well aware that Dr. Roberts has been MIA for some time, so I'll work to 'cure' that soon.

A Roleplay Close to my Heart

I've started putting together a roleplay that is important to me - so important it is, that I've written a script (gasp), planned it (gasp gasp), and even allotted time in advance for production (gasp gasp gasp). It will be Griffith from my favourite manga/anime Berserk, and will feature a lush array of triggers and ambience. I'm hopefully going to do some test shoots soon, so if you don't already follow me on Instagram pop over to @gaijimbo to take a look.

A Knight To Remember

Meet Sir Hywl. He is number eight of twelve knights who form part of a cinematic collaboration I'm working on for the festive season. I'll be playing three of them, as well as narrating in both English and Cymraeg.

This is a very rough cut, and I haven't looped things properly or graded, but it should give you an idea of what I'm aiming for. The final video will probably be about two and a half hours long...

I don't make my own collaborations much (mainly appearing in thousands of other people's), so this was a nice departure for me. It's also a massive stress point, as I hate being beholden to the scheduling of others. But, I'm pretty excited about this. 

I'm calling the genre Acid Fantasy. Enjoy!
