Zagreus! + Suggestions for future prints

I'll be sharing the full PSD of Zag before the end of this month, but for now heres the full resolution version! I have limited quantities of the regular A4 and Metallic gold A4 print available on my Etsy (don't forget to use your patreon discount code EVERGIVEN21 if you're making an order before the end of the month!).

I put out a call on twitter a couple days ago asking for suggestions for future patreon prints, which Patrons will get to vote on, so if you have anyone you'd like to suggest feel free to comment here and I'll make up the polls by Friday!

Feb update!

Hiya! quick update today! I've included two files from recent commissions in the link below, and I'll be taking commission inquiries during this upcoming month, so those of you in the commission perk level will be first in line.

PSDs and Etsy discount code for December/ January

Hi guys! Thanks so much for sticking around, heres the PSDs for the last two months! I've also added a new etsy discount code for the store.
December and January has been pretty flat out, between all the christmas orders for Etsy (and the shipping delay headaches afterwards) and catching up on a ton of commissions so I can clear up my queue and finish the comic with JP in early February.

All the pages are thumbnailed out, so thats the hard part done, all thats left is to actually draw and colour them. I'm not accepting any further commission work thats not already in the queue until the pages are done so all going to plan, I'll be finished the comic by the end of February and ready to move onto something new.

As for commissions afterwards, I'll be adjusting my rates. To get the finish I like takes time, and unfortunately its meant i regularly work below minimum wage when broken down per hour. I hate raising prices because i dont like pricing people out of commissions, but continuing as I am isn't viable, especially with rents perpetually increasing.
It genuinely reached a point where I either have to earn better wages or give up on doing art full time, and drawing brings me so much joy so I really want to stick it out and try to earn a consistent livable wage. Thankfully, January has been unusually good for Etsy sales, which helps a ton!!

Morrigan - Update on the comic I'm working on

 I haven't shared comic pages here in ages, but since its been a big part of the last couple months, I wanna talk a little about it.   SO, firstly, comics are goddamn hard! I mean like, I knew going in it'd be tough, but this is easily the toughest project I've worked on.
Morrigan is written by JP Jordan, will be lettered by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, with design by Becca Carey. I'm doing the art and colour.

Probably the part I struggle with most is the layout, the actual rough storytelling. I feel like working out an image in its most simple condensed form is not a strength of mine, so it can be like pulling teeth to figure out how to translate the script to the image in my head, and then onto the page.     
You can see below, my roughs are crude as hell, and ive started using colour in them more to help them be more readable for me.

I'm definitely not near "one page a day" pace, but I do feel like im speeding up and figuring out shortcuts, getting used to the designs, and learning where to prioritize detail. I do still leave a decent portion of the 'drawing' for the colour stage later on, so i feel like some of my pages look a little plain in the inks without clouds, general background stuff and lighting. I really love drawing Nemain's hair haha, its like a big bunch of crows all packed tight.

ANYWAY, forgive the rambling nature of this, its sort of the first steps of me getting back into writing more about process and all that, but im way out of practice haha.

Quick August update!

Sorry about this guys but I'll have to delay August's PSDs until next week.

It usually takes a while to go through the old files to organise them because theyre chaotic and full of duplicate and unnamed layers haha, and I want them to at least be useful and clear to see my steps. 

Between conventions, client work and *LIFE*, i havent been able to scrape out time/ energy to do a proper job of it, and ive got Q Con this weekend, so next week will be a double week where I upload August & September's files.

'Cub - The Pride' Full Resolution Download

Since I got the heads up I can share this on my social media today, I thought I'd upload the full resolution JPEG here too (attached in the post).

This was commissioned late last year by Joe Glass, writer of The Pride. It was commissioned as part of a "Swimsuit Edition" project for kickstarter backers of the hardcover graphic novel, I think he ended up sending all the images to backers.

Anyway, I'll go looking for the PSD for this and probably upload that here next month for Patrons.

PATREON UPDATE

I'm rejigging the Patreon to act more as a totally optional tip jar, where patrons can pledge whatever they like from $1 to $5 etc, and in return all patrons regardless of amount will get access to a couple of my PSD files each month, as well as some extra sketches and store discounts.

I'd relaunched this long-dormant patreon when I saw the changes coming to the platform and I wanted it to be active to be safe, but I hadn't realised I still had some patrons active. For those folk, just a heads up that it might be up to a week or two before I get time to update this properly with some PSD files etc, but once I get going it'll be updated relatively frequently through the months.

So to summarise: Page is sort of under construction at the moment but will be up and running later in May.

In the meantime, heres a character line up from the comic I've been working on. In time I plan to upload some of the pages as PSDs too.

November sketches studies and commission work

Most of this is just sketches and studies from reference, typical lifedrawing practice work. At the bottom right you can see the rough for a big illustration im workin on right now for a client, it'll be a promo image/ cover for his board game. 

Some drawings from the last couple days

Heya! Thought I'd share some stuff from 2 commissions I'm working on. First off you can see the flat colour version of the Star Wars guy I shared here the other day. He'll only need a layer or 2 of basic shading and he's done.

Then you can see the elf-y cowboy dude. He's another D&D commission, basically a cowboy, but also an elf with a cross bow. What you can see above are the variants I send him to consider, like different hair cuts and poses.

Lastly, the amanda holiday drawing is nearly done! just another layer of shading and lighting and she'll be done! also theres a grumpy saiyan prince up there too. I like him.

Been something of a hell week, where I had a lot on (including filing my taxes before the deadline :S ), so im hoping that with this current queue of commissions being character based and thus relatively straightforward I'll be able to get through them quickly and finish overdue projects

Commission | Star Wars OC

I love getting the chance to draw future-y, sci fi looking characters! This client is the same client who commissioned the Valkyries, and this is their player character in a star wars RPG i believe.

I think my inking has jumped up a couple levels since I moved the drawing/ inking to Manga Studio. Still some kinks to work out and I don't fully know the program yet, but its speeding me up.

Anyways! Speaking of futuristic characters, Amanda Holiday will be posted tomorrow, and Cayde-6 later in the week.
