Fun fact, there are actually purpose made combat axes that are much lighter and more mobile than a wood-chopping axe.
(the axe portrayed here is NOT a combat axe actually)
But here we went with the "classical wood-chopping axe", which isn't impossible that someone would use that in combat, and also it fits better for the tree chopping for... obvious reasons haha ^^

I do want to portray some monsters of central european folklore, and this is one of them ^^
Overall we went with the core element of the Nachzehrer of having no legs and sucking the soul out of the living via an open mouth while laying in the grave.

Also on this page I joked with Cres about Weiss continuing to choke the guy from the other page, even as she returned.
Just the guy holding his breath as she never let go of him throughout a 24 hour mission haha xD

Originally I gave N-37 the nickname "White Specter", but then I decided that naming her "Weißer Geist" (which is german, which we use in the webcomic for "Valkyrian") would be more fitting.
Hence why she is named "Weiss" (Weiß) now ^^

This page turned out exactly as I planned it to.
Cres did a very good job ^^
Also this basically concludes the mercenaries <--> Knights of Barghest difference comparison.
To specifically hunt strange monsters and supernatural creatures, you need to be a bit crazy.

Due to a lot of characters and group shots and stuff going on owo

That aside, yeah this scene is important to showcase more of the difference between most mercenaries and the Knights of Barghest who are doing things without worrying about profits, as each member has their own, personal reasons for becoming a monster hunter ^^

Webcomic paused until 2nd April

Hello everyone!

The webcomic will be paused until 2nd April, when it will be continued.
My apologies for this spontaneous break time.

Reason for this is, Cres and I have been pushing hard the past 2 years, going full speed with 6-workday weeks, no vacations etc.

(our last "vacation" was April 2023 when we spent ~2 weeks to move into our house, so that wasn't a real vacation technically)

And we're kinda exhausted at this point.

We're not able to completely take a break though.

We're just slowing down a little and taking care of ourselves.

We'll be doing about half of the commissions for March.

And we're trying to get more work into Loki game and preparation work for the future of the webcomic and future games, as that will help us in the long run to not overwork ourselves.

So this isn't a full breaktime.

Just slowing down for a bit to focus our efforts more on things and trying to catch a breath.

My apologies for the spontaneous decision to do this.

I specifically studied some longsword techniques to choose proper poses and weapon handling for Bahia.
While we don't try to do it 100% correct, and we do take some liberties here and there, we do try to make informed decisions for stuff like this ^^
