Hey everyone! It's been a while. As always, thank you for supporting TCRF!
We've recently taken over hosting and maintenance duties for Data Crystal, a wiki for documenting game data for ROM hacking and translations. Data Crystal was originally hosted by ROMhacking.net, and is an 18 year old wiki; it's been around for a while!
Data Crystal has been getting some TLC from us, including installing some much-needed extensions and doing some major cleanup and organization. It's still a big work in progress, but hopefully Data Crystal can thrive as a useful source of information about game internals. Having an open wiki anyone can use should help people find stable places for documentation that aren't Discord! 😄
If you're interested in helping out our efforts, feel free to join! We'd love to have your help.

What's changing with TCRF?
Not a lot! Our total hosting costs will increase slightly (~10%), but beyond that we have no plans to merge the wikis or accounts. The TCRF Discord server has two additional channels for discussion and DC updates as well.

Hey everyone! It's been a while -- we don't usually have too much to post here, since our nature as a wiki means we don't usually have big releases.
October was our 10th birthday! We made a birthday card in the form of a NES ROM! You can watch it on YouTube, or even download the ROM for use in an emulator or flash cart. There might even be a few secrets in it.
But that's not all...
Together, with Hidden Palace, we hosted a month-long release of various Sonic prototypes, including Sonic CD, Sonic 2, Sonic Chaos, and Sonic 3!!
As you'd expect, all of these have been preserved, and are available for everyone to download and enjoy.

Thank you for your continued support!

Yo! If you missed it, here's our article on the prototype of "The Magical Quest starring Mickey Mouse" that was released yesterday! (Writeup by @GoldS_TCRF on Twitter.)

Heeeeeey it's been a while. Here's that prototype we bought. Patreons in the Discord server got a sneak preview of this a while ago and now it's finally public.

Here's the title screen from the new prototype disk we bought, Air Fortress. Air Fortress was only released in cartridge form, and this disk appears to be a fairly early demo version -- so early that the "push start button" text is painted on (you start the game by powering on the FDS with side B inserted)
This music has never been heard before! It even uses the expansion audio channel from the FDS. The intro is also quite bizarre...
Look for more details in the near future after we finish tidying it up and making sure we got everything.

You've probably all heard about Patreon's fee changes. We've already lost quite a bit of support, but I'd just like to extend a thank you to everyone who has been supporting us this far. All of our stuff will continue to be released for free (though $5 Patrons will still get a bit of an early lead).
We have a new Discord server: https://discord.gg/wnfBf5D ... If you'd like to talk to the team, we're here (and still on IRC).
In TCRF news, we recently purchased an Air Fortress prototype. It's a Famicom Disk System disk, while the final game was a (hastily converted) cartridge release. We'll have more details about this once we actually receive it, which should hopefully be in the next few weeks.
Keep an eye out for updates on that.

This is probably the first actual-length video I've made for TCRF and dang has it been a long time coming. Please enjoy this little video about an unused wild card left buried in SMB3's N-Spade memory match game.

Merry Christmas!
I was hoping to have this post out earlier, but I have been busy. For that, I will be giving this to every patron regardless of support level -- future posts will probably be $5 and above. But don't worry if you aren't. Everyone else gets these a week after posting.
This was a fun secret to uncover, and I hope you enjoy it as well. The private Tumblr post follows, but please remember not to share it just yet, though!

Sorry for the delay. BMF and I were originally hoping on having a cool video done for the weekend, but to nobody's surprise that probably won't be happening for a while yet. However!!!
A Tumblr post about the stuff in the video will probably be available soon to the $5 tier. (Soon being "before this weekend, maybe".) Everyone else will get it a week later.
It's a neat little thing that we (mostly BMF) uncovered that nobody apparently knew about (until now). So. Soon!
