february general update

hey all, hope you're keeping well. 

it's been a busy month for me as i've had company for the majority of it, getting some much needed socialization with some very special people in. there's been a big focus on looking after myself (and making my new place really feel like home) and i've been making headway on various ongoing medical issues. my energy levels are certainly better than what they have been, though there's still a way to go (especially in terms of the link between lack of energy and attention span).

which is to say, not a ton else has had time to actually get done this month, but some has: i've been poking at time tripper a bit more this month and rethinking some of my design philosophies on it and where it's going. i don't want to say anything out loud right now while i continue to mull it over and test concepts to see what truly sticks.

the greenhouse CDs should be arriving with me soon; they entered production just over a week ago. you'll all have ample warning as to when they actually go live.

since CT-PFM3 (latest plugin) seems to be working well enough for those trying it, it'll probably go public soon. just need to actually sit down and make a manual for it that makes any sense at all.

i've got some other stuff on the way (in very early stages) but, as always, saying too much too early can be a bit of a curse.

CT-PFM3 plugin pre-release/beta/etc

hi there; here is an early (currently vst3 only) test release of my new plugin. it's incredibly weird and makes some interesting sounds that you might enjoy using.

it's a bit hard to explain and i've been trying and failing to write a manual for a few days but my ability to focus has been so poor that it hasn't come together. so i have included the world's worst makeshift manual in the form of a notated image.

at the moment i can't provide support or help for this plugin outside of major issues on supported hardware (64bit applications running in windows with vst3 support), which i will make note of for updates. as always read the IMPORTANT INFO section on https://heckscaper.com/plugins/ before asking me why your application is not loading the file.

if you make any neat sounds or tunes with it, i'd love to hear - feel free to share links etc below.

general update

just a quick "general things" update: i've been in a pretty heavy creative funk since releasing the greenhouse project (it used a lot of energy and creative brainpower very quickly...) so i've been nibbling at projects here and there, generally just trying not to overwhelm myself while i recharge. most of the energy i have this winter has been going into looking after myself and my living space.

i should have my next plugin ready for use some time this month. i had planned to get the greenhouse physical underway this month as well, but that's looking like a project for february. the print files are mostly ready, i just want to have them in my hands before opening sales so i can get them out the door quickly.

a few folks have asked how time tripper is coming along, and at the moment it isn't - mostly because i need to figure out how to wrap up the next episode. it's conceptually big enough for me to have to worry about it ballooning into something unmanagable, so that's something. it should be available this year some time, i'd imagine.

hello - the resources page is back online, along with the resources for "Washed Out" now being public and an update to the Noise Loops sample pack that adds 72 new samples. i've also consolidated "more impacts" and "more more impacts" into a single sample pack.

you will find that the sample pack license is barely-existent and that the stems license is About The Same (it needs some retooling but w/e)

as for other work updates: my next album is mostly complete, including design and artwork, and sits at 18 tracks (52~ minutes). i'm shooting for a digital release in early-mid december. aiming for physical in january 2023.

this will mark the last release of the year for me and i'll be focusing on some smaller projects for a little while once it's out.

as always, thank you for the ongoing support. the last few months have been very fruitful and i'm hoping that will continue into 2023. <3

ITI COLLECTION v20221122

1013 files (786 unique) for OpenMPT and Impulse Tracker users. the deal is complete. will be public soon, have fun with the sounds. i'm sure there are some errors here and there but given the enormous size of this and that they're all easily user-correctable i'm calling it mostly done.

resources page getting a rehaul (info)

my resources (samples etc) page is down at the moment for a big audit, redesign, cleanup, rewrite, and whatever other words you want to use. it will be available again in a week or so with new samples and whatnot to play with.

primarily, you won't have to download an entire album of track resources at once any more and obliterate your storage, as i'm splitting everything up into individual track downloads, organized by album.

secondarily, the original sample packs are getting their own new license agreement: the new one for said packs won't quite be public domain but it'll be awfully close. it will be a separate license from the one regarding stems of my own work (which will also continue to loosen).

openMPT ITI instrument pack update

an update to the ITI instrument collection for openmpt/impulse tracker users. lots of new stuff added (k1 [kawai k1], tia [atari 2600], and vir [access virus c] folders are all new). i've begun the long process of retuning and optimizing nearly every included instrument, though there's still a lot to do in that regard.

it's nearly 1000 files at this point, and i'll probably release it publicly once it breaks 1000 and i finish retuning/optimizing everything. according to the folder properties, i've been working on this since may 2021 now lmao. 

have fun as always and don't distribute the pack yet.

first thing's first, an updated todo list now that the mayhem record is out:

• new alias album
• HHSU - NULL NOTE HEAD physical (this is taking a backseat at the moment while i work on the aforementioned album)
• CT-PFM3 plugin (need to do documentation, i am admittedly slacking on this one since that's no fun lol)
• ITI sample/instrument pack for openMPT & Impulse Tracker (continuing to add sounds to this on a weekly basis, expect an updated version soon)

that's more or less it, now onto the general updates:

i tend to be picky about how i present my work, especially to the public - i prefer things to be rolled out a certain way, to be presented with a certain context, etc. recent patreon leaks have made this very frustrating to upkeep, and as a result you'll probably get things here more or less when they're made public as well - doubly so given that my current project is something new that i would prefer to present a specific way. it is immensely frustrating that there are people out there so impatient that they cannot wait a couple weeks to months for me to make something public (especially given just how much i put out and how much of it winds up freely available), and the only way to present this project the way i want is to be way more selective about what i share regarding it.

to be clear, nothing about this patreon is changing, the tiers still stand as they are - i just want to make it very obvious as to why there might be fewer previews on this project. i hope you can look forwards to hearing some of it very soon.

greenhouse wanders the endless interstice on which the old world was built carrying a laptop and radio. they capture weak radio signals across space and time, cataloging their existence by repurposing them into works that evoke their percieved now, and transmitting them back out.

HALLEY LABS has been receiving these transmissions for approximately two months. the interstice acts as a one-way gate, and as a result, HALLEY LABS has been unable to contact greenhouse.
