Updating the Patreon

After much consideration, I've decided to drastically alter the way I use my Patreon.

Basically due to a mistake  Patreon won't send me tax information because I made less than $20,000 in 2015 and this has greatly damaged my plans for getting a new place. To be fair, this isn't the first time Patreon and I have butt heads.

So instead of closing the whole thing I've decided to dedicate Patreon solely to Room 351 and it's overall production.  On top of that I've reduced the tiers down to two options, $1 and $5. 

$1 for those who just want to support

$5 for those who want to see the extra sketches, page layouts, concepts (character or otherwise) and anything else comic-related.

pretty simple.

I still am working to catch up on the owed pieces from before, some good news is rent got taken care of so I actually have time to catch up this time 'round. Thank you all for your continued patience.

Room351 Returns in 2016 and Patreon Future

Update!

Room351 will be back in January 2016. I was overzealous in my attempt to make it while I still had a backlog. As a result, the comic couldn't live up to the standard I had set for it.

Another issue I have with 351 is the pacing, it's hard to carry interest when you have a week in between each page. Even worse is when you're trying to build up a certain event but you have to go at a snail's pace. I'm working on a remedy to this issue  but I'm not ready to say what it is just yet. 

The Future of Patreon.

Patreon has been a double edged sword for me in this first year. it's allowed me to help out more and more around the house and cover unexpected costs. But now things have gotten rather difficult and I need to change in order to adapt how I earn funds to take care of myself.

After many months, I have found a new apartment that is on the up and up. I've read reviews on it, and every concern that's been brought up by current and past tenants is a non-issue for me. I've been to the office, they've kept in good contact with me and they're genuinely nice people. I've seen the apartment up close and it's spectacular. It's just the right size, it's nicely designed, and it's not too expensive. 

however in order to get it, i need consistent income, something I just haven't been able to do with Patreon.  Don't worry I'm not getting rid of it, just changing it. come January, Patreon will be acting as a fund for Room 351. I will be posting all comic developments, concepts, story pitches, and everything in between here. I'm still working on a new rewards system but December will be the last month for the current system.

As for those rewards, I will be getting in touch with you and dishing those out as part of me finishing up this 2015 backlog.

If you've been following my journals on DA you know that basically we got cheated out of a new place to live and our money, and it took it's toll on my productive drive. but now that it's over, I'm back in gear.

BEST NEWS EVER

WE'VE BEEN ACCEPTED TO THE NEW PLACE!

WE'RE FINALLY FREE OF THE ROACHES, MICE, BEDBUGS, OPOSSUMS, AND EVERYTHING ELSE!

It took some time, and negotiating but we were finally accepted. So around mid-October, we'll be moving into the new place. Guys you have no idea how happy I am right now! Due to my fmaily's credit We'll have to pay a full month's rent as a deposit (around $740) and of course the current place for October ($720) but I honestly don't care. I'm just so happy to finally be free. I've lost so much work, items and furniture here that I frankly don't care that we have to pay upfront.

But Now that I know it's official, I have to do a number of things. First of all, 

Finish all owed work.

 I'll need to reopen so I can pay for the move, replacement furniture, and a few other things. I can't do that with my current load in the way. So It may take a few over nighters but I will finish everything.  I need to update and make a few changes to Patreon, and I need to get these next few sets out of the gates. I also need to do the next few pages of 

Room 351

.

A mountain of work, yes. But what is a Mountain to a man who feels like a giant?

Update

Time for an update I suppose.

First off I would like to apologize for the sudden drop in art. I thought I was finished mourning but recently it comes back here and there. The good news is I'm getting through because it's not as rough as it initially was.

Next off, Thank you all for the Happy birthday wishes, it really meant a lot to see so many offering condolences and birthday wishes. Thank you all.

Third is the funeral it's will be on the 31st and 1st,  I'm not sure if i will be able to attend as it's in Florida and I am in Oklahoma. but if I am, I'll be gone on and around those dates.

But until then I will get back to work. I'm going to be working as hard as I can to finish Patreon pics and rewards, commissions, sets, and basic art. With the 1st coming up soon I have to make rent again. So I will do I best to reopen as soon as possible.

I'm sorry if this reads a scatterbrained I'm just working to finish.

Failed Hard drive

So My big 1TB external Hard drive failed today, taking with it nearly all my references, vids, old art, stories, and ideas with it. so my evening has been utter shite as you can imagine. on top of that I appear to be having some sort of stomach sickness combine this with the rent issue I had at the beginning of this month and my May has been beyond garbage. but it's ok, I just have to start over.

I have to stop the raffles and a 4th payment tier

So apparently the raffles i was offering can/are considered gambling which is against the rules. so i have removed them. But in its stead I have made a 4th tier which people can net themselves a flat color commission. as well as adding some extra spots on the $10 tier who tho who have been unable to sign up thus far I have limited the new tier to 5 slots because i don't have a lot of time and i would like to be able to guarantee the rewards to the people who support me. i'm sorry for the inconvienience.

Restructuring the Patreon.

Alright it's March and it's time to fix this thing. My previous options were not working. and I want to do more for you guys. Hence why I'm now lowering the prices. To put is bluntly I was unable to work with my previous settings. Over time I grew unhappy with my "tiers" so I decided to make them more affordable and hopefully more rewarding for all of you who have supported me. I'm am now moving to a 3 tier system which i hope will be better for all of you $1 Patrons, You will be able to: ​-View all streams -View low-res (800xXXX) versions of all my completed pieces. $5 Patrons, You will be able to: -View all streams -View Hi-res (1600xXXX) versions of all completed pieces -Vote on the Monthly Patreon Piece or Monthly Art Project (if ​there is one for that month) -Suggest ideas for Patreon Pieces if I don't happen to have an idea $10 Patrons, You will be able to: -View all streams -View Full-res (3200xXXX) versions of all completed pieces -Vote on the Monthly Patreon Piece or Monthly Art Project (if there is one for that month) Suggest ideas for Patreon Pieces if I don't happen to have an idea -A B/W sketch commission (a $20 value). -You will be entered in a monthly raffle for one (1) full-color commission (a $60 value). The way this raffle will work is, Every month I will tally the entries, and on the 15th of every month, I will choose the winner, if you sign up after the 15th and miss the raffle, you will still get a B/W sketch commission. It should also be noted that the winner forgoes their B/W comm for a full-color comm. FYI, there will be a slight delay on this month's rewards as I have a previous workload to finish. Restructuring the Patreon

After looking at the way Patreon works, I think it's time to restructure to something that's more rewarding to you the patrons. I'm going to revamp the pledge options to give you guys the most bang for your buck. So let me ask you guys, How do you feel about the following offerings? -Monthly Raffle: People donate a certain amount and I pic a winner and give them a 1-2 character pic -Tutorials: "How I draw Boobs, Butts, Anatomy, et cetera." -Hires downloads -Streams for my monthly projects: Every so often I come up with a monthly project where i do a majority of art based on a certain subject. You may remember a while back i did the "Fantastic Females of February," This is one such project. With this option I will prepare the art and then do streams to all who support. Which brings me on to my next point -A new Goal: During the last stream I asked if people would like to see creating the art live, it guess the proper term would be, "live-sketching" where You'll be able to watch my hands actually draw a brand new piece on paper, from scratch as opposed to the normal digital drawing I usually do. Everyone that was there liked the idea, so I looked into it and apparently it's not as expensive as I once thought. (They usually run about $100 for a good one) and Mini tripods aren't expensive either. But I digress. Would you guys like to see that become a reality? Please give me feedback, I want to make sure this works as best as it can. If the general response is positive, I'll make the necessary changes and it will take effect March 1st. if not then I'll continue as I was. if you have questions do not hesitate to ask. The Plan

Alright, it's the end of the month which means I need to finish all my owed work if I'm to make 2015 a prosperous year and get the hell up out of this roach, bed bug, and mice ridden apartment shithole. So I've made a plan I haven't released a set is a long time (and that's not good). But there is good news, as of typing this I have a set well on it's way to completion which I hope to finish either today or tomorrow. The reason this has taken priority over comms is that my publisher, Lulu, has a deadline set for January 30th, so I need to earn something in order to get a paycheck and thus become one step closer to getting out of here. but once that's over I'm aiming to get all owed art finished by February 1st so if you'll let me I promise you all my best work. Patreon supporters There will be another stream before the month's over. On top of that I'm working to get more and more content produced to show you all just how much you mean to me. More Good News The Fantastic Females of February are making a comeback. Patreon supporters will get to see them streamed and posted early to Patreon while non-supporters will get to see them posted in my DA gallery on their due date. 2015

Hey everyone, first off I would like to apologize, I haven't been the best lately. Circumstance has been a big hindrance over the past few months. Regardless, 2015 is upon us and I will be doing my best to make it the best year. Now I would like to take the time out to thank you all for your support. It means the world to me. Here's to 2015 the best year ever.

Should I restructure the Patreon to be more comic-centric? That is to say, make it 100% about Room351?
