Sabrina wanted to shoot fun casual black and white portraits with a simple white tank top. She wanted them to be fun, with different expressions and laughing. I may have had some good jokes for this set. Just maybe :)
Jaybird Issue 09 - Fine art nude Horror magazine. Happy Halloween! A collection of horror art nude works. These were some of my favorite darker concepts I shot over the last two years.
Last set with Savannah. Went with a simple soft box light from the side , then sprayed water on the ground as well as her hair and body. I always like the way the light reflects off the wet ground. I think a few shots from this set really stand out.
I was really happy with the way all of the recent work we shot turned out. We have plans to do a horror style shoot later this month hopefully. I just need to figure out what i want to create first.
Clare and I made a 90 second horror short to submit to the Cheapy Creepy film festival this month. Crossing our fingers we come home with a prize. After we shot it, we took a few quick photos with the bloody plastic we used in our film in the window light. I will post the short after the initial release at the end of the month.
October - Best time to work on more horror shoots. I actually shot this set a few weeks back, but was waiting for October to start posting new bloody portraits :) Added the clean up shots in the old creepy shower in my basement. Its become a running joke now, but hey- it works great for making art! Used a flash light for lighting on those.
Second Set with Savannah. I wanted to try and shoot a simple nude set with heels on a white backdrop, then soften up the colors. Ended up working out better than I thought it would. PLM light for the main light on the left side, then I just bounced another light off the right side wall for highlights. I think we got some really beautiful shots.
Few new studio sessions with Savannah. Been messing around with the colored fill lights with natural light. I like the way it looks. Creates some cool light paintings across the body.
I wanted to go back to the original style of my bodyscape series for this set. The model was in a serious car accident that left some pretty cool and interesting scars on her body. She is still recovering from it but has a positive outlook on life - and I am thankful to her for letting me photograph her scars for this project.
Had the chance to work with someone new. We shot 4 different sets. I will be uploading new work over the next few days. Really liked the way all of the photos turned out. Here is the first set . Jeans, dumpy sweater and half nude portraits.
I used a Godox S60Bi way off to the left diffused for less harsh light, then a gold reflector on her right slightly behind her to pick up some slight highlights.
Second set from my shoot with Jessica. Wanted to try something a little darker with the idea of her ears bleeding since she is deaf. Didn't quite work the way I intended because I didnt use enough light, so her bloody ear doesn't really translate very well. But I like the way the pictures turned out.
Jessica is a Detroit based deaf model. She reached out to work with me quite awhile ago but our schedules didn't line up.Finally had the chance to work with her. I will admit I was a bit nervous, because I wasn't sure how to go about communicating my ideas or explain how I wanted a pose to evolve. But she helped make it work.
Amber was in a car accident a few years ago that really messed her up. She has some pretty interesting scars because of it. We have plans to shoot a bodyscape set focusing on those scars later, but for now we just took some casual nature photos. We had a pretty nice warm summer day. Though I am looking forward to fall weather soon!
Gina reached out and wanted help shooting new fairy wings she just bought. She styled the shoot with makeup, a long wig and a white dress she picked out.
Bella messaged me and wanted some portraits in her Garden. She picked out a dress and a set of pink underwear. It was 90+ degrees out here in Michigan. Lets just say I suffered a little from the heat and walked away drenched in sweat, while she looked comfortable in her outfits. But we got a bunch of great shots, and lucked out with a few local bee's in her garden.
This was a fun Project inspired by the movie Bring Her Back. They had a cool VHS ritual video that was pretty creepy and it gave me some Ideas. I wanted to use candle light, and create a circle made of salt. I bought a cool looking bowl for water - Candles for fire - Dried up roses I had from another shoot for Earth. I read somewhere that sometimes certain pagan religions use the sacrificial knife to represent Air. The idea was that this person goes through this ritual within the circle, touching each of the elements. She then carves a symbol into her flesh in which to bleed out the version of herself she doesn't want anymore. But it manifests into several broken versions of herself which surround her, and the ritual fails.
I want to create a part two of this where she is possibly in a limbo version of the ritual room consumed in darkness, stuck holding herself in regret, or something like that.
I shot the entire thing in landscape on my 35mm lens because I wanted it to feel like a scene from a film. I love the way the lighting turned out for being shot entirely in my basement.
Got the circle set up for a creepy upcoming horror shoot. Might get a little bloody 😌 I’m shooting it on the 35mm and treating it like film stills, so all landscape shots. Hopefully it turns out. Looking forward to this one. I’m working with a special effects makeup artist. Let’s see how real we can get it to look.
This was shoot Idea Holli had been wanting to create for a awhile. I helped her shoot it , and then we ate the cupcakes. Holli makes really good baked goods! I keep telling her she needs to start her own business, but she said it wouldn't be fun anymore.
I have known Holli for a very long time. She has always been an incredible creative person, both in modeling and photography. She also has a Patreon here - [Holligraph]
So, the second half of my Joan of Arc shoot was rescheduled. So didn’t get to light someone on fire unfortunately 😌. I did shoot a cooking cupcake set with Holli that I will be posting later. Bonus was once we were done, I got to eat homemade cupcakes.
Doing a creepy ritual shoot this weekend with a SFX makeup artist. Really looking forward to this one. I was inspired by the VHS tape in the movie Bring her Back. Should be nice and creepy with a bit of blood. Horror shoots are always fun.
Bella reached out and asked to do portraits at her place, so looks like my weekend should be productive.
Last, I have a reshoot scheduled end of July for the Loss film to fix the ending I’m not happy with. Then I’m planing on working on the color grading of the film. Getting closer to finishing it. Hopefully by October.
This replaces the $15 a Month Selected Works Tier with all the same benefits.
You will have to cancel the old tier and resubscribe to this one if you decide you want to keep supporting my work. I'm not sure the best way to move everyone over, as the old Tier only allowed price increases, not decreases, and Patreon only seems to let you create new Tiers at lower prices.
Last of our summer photo set. Korey wanted to clime one of the trees naked after she got out of the water.. Shot with a canon 70-200mm 2.8f. Then we finished the set on the shoreline where one of the trees branches had fallen during some of the recent storms.
We lucked out and the had the sun in a good spot to backlight the water on this set. Korey said the water felt great. The surface was warmer and the water got colder the deeper she went. I used a black diffusion filter which helped create a dream like effect on the water as it reflected the sun.
Second set at the pond. The weather was pretty warm in Michigan, but we had a lot of shade from the trees, and Korey got to dip into the water which was warm on the surface.
Moving forward, the Selected Works Tier will be closed, and a New $10 a month with Annual option will be open in its place called /Various Works starting in July and moving forward.
I wanted to just change the current tier to $10, but Patreon doesn't seem to allow it. So you will have to cancel the current tier and subscribe to the new Tier - otherwise the old price will continually be charged on auto pay settings.
Been so busy working on my short horror film, I haven’t had much time to shoot anything new. But now that filming is complete, I can start working on other projects.
I have plans to shoot the second half of my Joan of Arc series. We will be burning her at the stake. Literally,…with real fire. Should be an interesting shoot. We have a team of pyrotechnics to help safely create some cool images. That’s at the end of the month.
Should be working with Kory again soon shooting some portraits and summer dresses.
I’m working on shooting all new content for another Jaybird magazine, with a few new models hopefully. Trying to schedule that out. I have one idea locked in with summer dresses-undressing in nature. Might hit up a pond to swim in as well. (Not me, the model 🙃)
The last project is more of a conceptual piece focusing on a woman’s period. It’s more of a body scape idea. But because of the content, I might not be able to post it here, as it might violate Patreons content policies. Though I thought about adding it to the next Jaybird issue (even if it shocks some people 🫠)
Slowly editing my film as well.
Lots of stuff in the works. Trying to book a few more shoots in as well. I miss shooting.
A quick behind the scenes video from my short horror film Loss. We finished filming in the beginning of June. I have been mainly working of piecing it together, and I have a rough cut done. I'm hoping I can release the finished version by October, but we will see. Pretty happy with what we accomplished. Lost to work on still.
