The Future of Beyond The Mist: Beginnings

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, Beyond The Mist: Beginnings did not meet its funding goal. I want to offer a big, heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who pledged and cheered the game on. Your support means the world to me!

So, where do we stand now? The game cannot be turned into a visual novel without funding, thus that format is now out of the picture. That does not mean, however, that this is the end of the story!

This story is dear to me, and I will tell it no matter what. What this means is that I will release the game in a purely interactive fiction format.

No images besides a static background and the cover art, but the structure of the writing will remain the same, with all the choices and branching I've already showcased!

There are benefits to this approach: since I won't have to implement art, the game will be completed much faster! I also won't have to work around art limitations and compromise the storytelling to fit budgets and the like.

I will continue to update everyone on the progress I make both on my itch.io as well as my Tumblr account, so be sure to subscribe to either of these to continue following the development!

I will also be providing early viewing access of the BtM alpha build every month for my Ko-Fi and Patreon patrons.

So the development of this project remains very much alive! Thank you again to everyone who pledged, and I hope to have the full game ready for you all soon!

Progress Update

Hey, everyone!

Been a while since I did a full progress update, so I figured it was time for another one.

I've been working nonstop on both TSSW and BtM and gotten quite a bit of content written down!

I'm actually pretty close to finishing the planned content for Manerkol's/friendship route for TSSW 3. I have to finish this big scene with the Stone that I'm in the middle of, and then it's another scene with Morkai/Eledwen (she sleeping), then another with the mule (finally!) and one last BIG one with Manerkol (finally gonna see each other again!)

So yeah, once these are finished, that's pretty much it for his route for this book! I'm focusing on more character interaction and getting some plot points down instead of big battles and puzzles and such for this book. I think it's nice to take it easy with the action once in a while, ya know? The poor MC and Co can use a break lol! So yeah, once these scenes are written, I can start adding in the rest of the romances!

So TSSW public demo won't be updated with any more content, linear progression wise, but I will of course add all the romance routes to the demo as I finish them~ So that's what with TSSW.

As for BtM, I'm close to the 1/3 mark for part 2! The weirdness has begone, and it's only gonna get more intense from here on LOL! At least the MC has Zach with them, right? 😏Speaking of Zach, I have written the first KISS with them, oh my! And a bit more than a kiss, if any MC's are interested in that LMAO! 🤣

But yeah, first big scene with Zach is down, one big plot scene, and now I'm writing Cy's first big scene. Cy is kind of having it rough atm... In general, I plan to have 3 big scenes for each RO for this part and maybe one more purely plot one.

I was planning to have BtM be three parts, but I might divide it in 4 if I see that it's getting too big lol. The last part with be more of an extended epilogue kind of thing. Expect lots of canoodling and seeing what your choices have wrought you in the epilogue 😉

Of course, if you want to see more of TSSW or BTM, my tiers here on Ko-Fi feature more content than what you see in the demos for both !
