Vibes initiated...

Apologies for the lack of posts.  I finished my six week job yesterday and today was my first full day back on Prince of Vibes.  I still think I can do it by the end of June.

Not a whole lot has changed, this is mostly to let you know i'm back in the saddle gain.

I was really sad to learn of the death of Kentaro Miura, the author of Berserk.  It's my favourite manga even though it's unfinished.  In it's later years Berserk was notorious for long periods of time between issues.  I sometimes wondered what his situation was like and whether he wanted to finish it, or whether some other factor was preventing him.  I have much, much smaller unfinished works and I know it's harder to work on something you've lost interest in.

I don't think I've posted this on patreon before.  It was my contribution to a friend's compilation a few years ago called Bartzerk.  I also wrote a Berserk parody a long while ago but I never animated it because it wasn't funny enough.

Thanks for your patience, I will post more often now.  I have no upcoming work commitments whatsoever it's all Prince of Vibes.  After that I'd like to make another Meth Orcs.  I've written an episode I think is really strong, it's bigger than I'd like though so I'll have to think carefully about how to approach it if I end up doing it.

Prince of Vibes update

I thought there was an outside chance I'd finish this by the end of April but no not even close.  Well over half way though.

Here is the prince demonstrating his good vibes intentions towards Earth.  The blue effects will be slower and a different shape, they're pretty extra at the moment.

Here we have a catboy portal from the Andromeda galaxy.  In the final version he will be surrounded by Greek men.  I think my portal is pretty cool but I will adjust the timing and add some more sparkles.

Here's another catboy, this guy is the finest catboy warrior the Andromedan (green guy) possesses.

This is my second project in a row featuring catboys.  I have no plans after this cartoon to animate more catboys.  That's not to say I won't.  At least be assured that not every cartoon will feature catboys from now on.  I may have already drawn my last catboy.

This guy is also in there.

These guys make a brief appearance, they are Lyrans from the constellation of Lyra.  I enjoyed giving the Lyran lady a party hat and slapping a pennant I animated for Sweet Boy Beach on to it. 

This sexy snake couple also makes an appearance.  This is my interpretation of Draconians from the constellation Draco.  Apparently they had a war with the Lyrans and destroyed their home planet.  I'm not sure if these guys are the same as the reptilian illuminati guys, I'd need to look more into it.

I've agreed to storyboard two episodes of the kids show starting next Monday, it will delay finishing this by six weeks.  I'm confident I can finish this by the end of June.  I'd prefer to work on this until it's done but I'm trying to strike a good balance this year that will give me stability and its not always possible to finish things in the windows of time.  

For my next project at the moment I'm leaning towards one of the Meth Orcs ideas I have, or another fantasy idea about a wizard who gets really horny when he sees disgusting feet.

Next Project: Prince of Vibes

A couple of months ago I saw an ad on youtube from a fellow who wanted to tell me about Pleiadian starseeds.  Had something to do with Atlantis.  I looked into it and it turns out there is a whole bunch of alien races that are trying to improve humanity's vibes.  Starseeds are humans that believe they originated from an alien species, or are inhabited in some form by an alien.

Prince of Vibes is a scene between two such aliens, one from the Pleiadian star cluster and one from the Andromeda galaxy.  Unlike Meth Orcs: Meth Harder I'm not trying to tell much of a story here, this one is more of a skilly sketch.  I think it will be about as long as Meth Orcs, probably 3:00-3:30.  I'm not out to make fun of starseeds either, this is more about the puppet masters that pull our strings.

Main character is the Prince of Vibes, from the Pleiadian star cluster (not sure which star).  He's my slightly different cartoon version of Ashtar Sheran.  If you want to look him up he's an interesting character (tldr he's a Pleiadian space commander who multiple people claim to have been visited by in their dreams).

Also featured: crystals!

Our other guy from the Andromeda galaxy.  He's travelled 2.5 million light years to meddle in human affairs.

I'm really happy to see Meth Orcs doing well!  Thanks again everyone for supporting me to make it.  It's great when I occasionally manage to make something that appeals to a slightly broader selection of people.

Thank you everyone for supporting this endeavour, this is one of the bigger ones.  Not Fernando and the Disk of Chaos big but plenty big.  

I really enjoyed making this (and also the Great Destiny Man series), I've always liked fantasy but these days it seems like the best way to indulge is games.  I would love to expand on this and explore Treshtog's world some more (keeping in mind always not to start large series that I can't finish).

I have written another episode involving a dire goat but it needs a bit of work, for now we'll see whether people like this one.  I've lost any shred of objectivity on it so it could be a stinker, I don't know.

Meth Orcs update

Happy to say I have finished my work assignment and have been back on Meth Orcs full time for a week now.  I believe I will finish it this month.  The title shot looked pretty cool but I couldn't leave it alone, I had to make him glisten.

Same for this one, Treshtog sparkles a bit now and the waterfall and the ripples glow.

Theres lots of elves in this cartoon, I was even thinking of calling it Meth Elves.  This one is our antagonist the dark elf witch/meth dealer.

This shot took a whole day even though I ripped the last part of the spell glow effect from the fourth Great Destiny Man cartoon.  It will be split in two in the cartoon.

I've only showed the cartoon to my girlfriend so far but she says she likes it, which is usually a good sign.  I think it will be strong!

At this stage my next project, which I am aiming to finish late April (but will probably end up being in May let's be honest) is Prince of Vibes.  I won't describe it much yet other than to say it grew from my interest in starseeds.  

The orcs are rumbling

I want to write a quick note to say that my work agreement is almost ended, I have one week left and then I'll be back on the orc farm.  I'm aiming to finish Meth Orcs in March and another project in April that I expect to take me a month or so.  Thank you for waiting!  I had a nice period of activity from June-November last year and March-September will be another.  I'm really looking forward to it!

Still not 100% finished, I want to add some glow to the energy and make some other minor tweaks.  This was fun but holy smokes action like this takes a lot of time.

Meth Orcs project update

The title gif is the establishment shot for Treshtog's confrontation with the Dark Elf Witch/Meth dealer.

I got a fair amount of work done on Meth Orcs over the christmas break.  I'm on a storyboarding work assignment which ends in February, then I will be back on my own projects full time.  I'll likely finish this in March.  I've animated a decent amount of it now, I have 95% the dialogue on the timeline but I haven't given the music a lot of thought yet.  I think the first Meth Orcs had an unusual ambience to it so that will give me a good starting point.

This cartoon will pioneer the world's first cat themed meth bag. I have not verified that claim.

This shot is almost finished, I think he needs to glisten more.  I might add some sparkles.

This one is just a warmup for the big action shot at the end.  Treshtog has left his axe outside.

I think my next project after this will be something called Prince of Vibes.  It's influenced by a recent interest I've had in starseeds and the idea of all these different alien species all trying to contact us and subtly get us to ascend into higher dimensions.

Merry Orcmas

Hello!

I'm thinking of calling the project Meth Orcs: Meth Harder.  It's a rip off of the slogan from Die Hard 2.  I've learned that putting numbers in titles might discourage new people from watching and this one could take place before or after the first Meth Orcs so they do not need to be watched in order.  

I've written a third one and the same is true for that one.  If I make it that one will be called Meth Orcs: Dire Goat.  It's got a bloody huge goat in it!

Background is unfinished on this one.  I wanted to try a very short waterfall cycle like in some fighting background gif references I have.

I'm enjoying painting the creepy forest backgrounds.  This will probably be my greenest cartoon ever.  The second half has a different setting though.  

Treshtog is a pretty complicated character.  I've simplified his costume a little from the first one, but when I simplified his face it didn't look good, he needs to be crusty and spotty.

I'm enjoying animating this anime catboy guy.  He's out to kill our hero Treshtog while he's bathing.  I wonder who will prevail?

My next project is METH ORCS: METH HARDER

I haven't mentioned this in a patron post before, I was planning on doing the Fernando project I posted about. 

I wrote this a few years ago and something about it wasn't quite right.  I just needed to sit on it I guess because I opened the script doc and made some changes and suddenly it felt really good and I wanted to make it.  It's gonna be a big one!  

Treshtog has a thirst trap bathing shot... though I probably won't show so much of his butt.  It's near the start of the cartoon and I don't want to get people too horny too early.

We're going to meet the Dark Elf Witch, who in addition to being a practitioner of dark magics is also a meth dealer.

Gonna be some sweet action.

There's also gonna be some EMOTIONS.  sometimes referred to as drama.

Bluey season 3 is starting up again and I will still be working on the show but not as much as the previous 2 seasons.  The reason why is that I don't want to stop making my own cartoons for another year.  I also don't want to stop working on the show, so I've negotiated a smaller role which will mean I can keep making my own toons.  I can afford to pass on the work because of YOU GUYS.  Without your support on patreon, I'd be signing up for another full time year.  So thanks!

This one is aboutTracksuit guy taking a call from a mysterious stranger.  It takes place in the luscious, overgrown distant future, or does it?  It's more surreal than anything I've done in a while, but I think it is working.

All the clouds will move, haven't done that yet.

I like the pattern of this character wandering through bizarre and strange landscapes, established in the Regret cartoon.  I have another idea for him which involves catboys, but I'm not sure if I'll do it yet.  I'll see how this one goes first.

This guy is on the other end of the call, in some kind of conspiracy bunker.

The collab is still going, we have finally met the antagonist:

Embracing Gratuity

I saw a post on twitter which expressed the sentiment that film should be about embracing gratuity and revelling in the pleasures of art.  It bothered me because I realised that by and large that is how I started but somewhere along the way I ceased doing so.

I gnawed at it for a while and it led me to the realisation that for the last few years I have been trying to be creative inside of boundaries set by executives at google that are designed to maximise ad revenue.  I've put aside projects that were too spicy because I assumed they would be age gated and ad limited and not many people would see them.  

Youtube has been pushing to clean up its content for years now, but it's made me realise that this creates opportunities rather than limits horizons.  A lot of people want to watch well animated adult cartoons but there's not a great deal out there.  

I feel bad now for all the time I've wasted, but it's fired me up to tackle projects that excite and titillate.  Thank you for sticking with me so far and I hope you will continue to do so!  I will finish the projects I've started but afterwards I have a wonderful adult adventure planned.  Not a porno as such but it will definitely be the horniest thing I've ever made.  It's based on one of the roleplays from Fernando's podcast where he is press-ganged into joining the cult of Glycon and he has to fuck his way out of the chapterhouse.

Upcoming project list:

Assfarmer (formerly Jumping the Surfshark): 90% finished, will publish it soon.  This one is a Manwhore Industries slice of life story about Fernando coming up with a new music video.

What if ur mum was anime?: This one is kinda in the vein of Regret, featuring my self insertion character asking some big questions.

Mammal Juice: This is the music video that Fernando brainstorms in Assfarmer.

Fernando joins a cult (working title): This one will only be viewable in full on Newgrounds and certain other websites that set off Patreon's adult content filter.

The Story of Peanut

Just one thing I have to mention, about halfway you can see Randy's silhouette in place of Uncle Warrens.  That's cause we switched them around in between those two pages.  I'll replace her some time.

Jumping the (Surf)shark

I've put Mammal Juice on hold because I had an idea for a new cartoon that leads up to it.  It's about Fernando struggling with creative block and a social media backlash against their fragrance Essence of Manwhore.

Like the previous few cartoons there will be two versions of it, one with a Surfshark ad read for youtube and one without for Newgrounds.  Only this time they will refer to the ad read in the youtube version (the context is their ongoing grind for cash and Fernando's abysmal acting skills) so the versions will be a more different than usual.

I also had an idea for another short something like Regret which will only take a week or so to make, called What if ur mum was anime?  So I might make that in between the Fernando projects.  It's vaguely topical so I shouldn't leave it too long.

Yep that's manwhore Gooseman.  I'll post the whole thing when I've done a bit more, patreon is actually really good for reading this format of comic.

Mammal Juice update + The Story of Peanut

The title gif is for the lyrics "A trough of water to keep us fresh".  I'm going to try and explore some new colour palettes and stretch my painting abilities with this one.

It's a Fernando music video so we've got to have some enthusiastic and unconventional dancing.

I realised I forgot to put goats on the farm!  A severe oversight, glad I didn't get too far before this crucial weakness was revealed.

The other thing I've been up to is a storyboard jam over on the discord. (In the "collab zone" if you're interested in contributing).  I'll paste the story so far below, I hope it is readable on patreon.

Quite a saga so far, I'm enjoying where its going...although now we have a late term pregnancy to resolve.

Regret

This one was inspired by all the criticism of Pleasure Island.  I dithered on whether to do it for a couple of days but then I realised it gave me a reason to animate my self insertion character predator handshaking Goku, well that sealed the deal.

With this out of the way I will resume Mammal Juice.  I don't have anything worth sharing from it yet, I'll post again when I do.

This one is very satisfying to share because it completes an old story I left unfinished years ago!  This is not the end of Fernando and Gooseman, or even of Pleasure Island.  And now I can bravely stride into the future without being reminded of my failure to finish this series.

Hello and welcome.....to PLEASURE

Firstly hello and welcome to my new patrons!  Thanks again and I hope that you don't come to regret your decision.

I'm making three consecutive Fernando & Gooseman toons.  The first, Pleasure Island: Final Climax is over half done and I'm hoping to finish it by the end of this month, but I'm not too worried about it going into early August if it needs to.

The second is Mammal Juice, a music video set on a farm.   Here's a sample verse:

 From dusty plains straight to the paddock

I didn't mention the third in the video because I'd like to keep the option open to change it but I wrote a new episode recently I'm really happy with.  It's currently called Crazy Beans and it's kind of like Fernando meets Indiana Jones.

Likewise here's Gooseman imagining himself as an albatross.  I'm planning a little albatross song as well for people that make it to the end of the cartoon.

Pleasure update + Patreon tax

By now some or most of us have received an e-mail from Patreon about applying additional taxes to pledges.  They've asked me to weigh the value the rewards, their explainer page says that one time offerings and general support are not taxed (in many places), so I've calibrated accordingly and I hope that those on the lower tiers won't be taxed, but it's also region specific so I can't say that with any confidence.  I don't envy them the task of getting tens of thousands of artists to get their head around tax rules.  

This is regretful for patrons which only sign up to support an artist, which is a huge percentage of patreon users.  But governments gotta get their cut of the arts yknow.  I'm aiming to finish this project in July so that is the next time the patreon will be triggered (no charge for last month of this month).

Pleasure Island: Final Climax  is going well.  I'm chewing through the early scenes. 

I'm particularly enjoying this scene.  It's not a spoiler to show it but I do have to be tactical with what shots I share on this one.

What I will spoil is that things get a little..........steamy.

I've attached nanders.mp3, the only piece of music I've made for this so far.  It's an early stage of this track, but I may not even change it much, it's quite nice.  I shouldn't take credit for it because it's a chord progression from Moonlight Sonata, but it suits my scene so well and one of the nice things about composing music is that you're allowed to absolutely go to town robbing the dead. 

I'll end with this one.  Fernando's telling someone to get lost!

Party mode ENGAGED

I delivered my final storyboard on Bluey yesterday so starting today I can properly disengage from earthly concerns and return to Pleasure Island: Final Climax 

I've managed a couple of shots already, this first part is a preamble where Vera the dominatrix will be haranguing the audience up to speed with the story.

Get ready for an uncomfortable lecture.

This sums up the last episode, Fernando got eaten by a squid.  Does he survive!  and will Gooseman be able to find the missing walruses???

I will try my best to give the series the meandering, pointless yet hopefully entertaining end it deserves.  It's kinda long so it might take me until July to finish...but I'm aiming for end of June.

Next project:......

This is a quick post to let you know that my next project will be Pleasure Island: Final Climax.

Originally Pleasure Island 5 and 6 were 1 cartoon, but it would have been 7 minutes long so I split it into 2.  As a result Pleasure Island 5 did not contain much of a payoff and wasn't very satisfying for viewers.  I intended to animate the second half within 6 months but here we are 5 years later.  ( Several years ago I promised myself that I wouldn't do that again!  And haven't yet. )

Finishing this will complete the saga and I feel will clear the air for more things to happen in Fernando and Gooseman's world.  

This will reveal the events after Fernando is devoured by the giant squid.  It's going to be hard to post updates about it without spoiling it btw.  Also this cartoon will spit in the face of established narrative structure.  

One of the cool things about doing a series over 12 years is that the style changes from episode to episode.  In retrospect I think my style took a wrong turn in 2014-2015.  I over designed characters, gave them too many highlights and shadows, coloured outlines etc.  It took long to animate them.  I've shaken it up a bit recently and my style more closely resembles Pleasure Island 2 era than any of the others (dark outlines, more FBF, v little tweening.  But I've learned a thing or two since then).

I've got 4 weeks of Bluey left (It was 3 but now it's 4 but that's definitely it).  Then it's full time pleasure island baby oooh yeeeehhh!!!
