After much needed rest and preparation, we are slowing getting back into the swing of development.
The demo reception has us more motivated than ever, so please look out for more updates in the future.

Hand that over... that thing... your Dark Souls: Archthrones™...!

Happy holidays!
We have another update to share with you all regarding the demo release.
Progress on the demo is continuing smoothly, thanks to our play testers, many, many bugs have been fixed.
As for specifics, we are happy to tell you all that gameplay-wise, the mod would be ready for release when it's done.
However, in order to make sure as many people as possible can enjoy the demo, there are still performance concerns that need to be addressed.
In addition to that, some key team members are struggling with burnout, unforeseen irl circumstances, and other obligations. Regardless, every day the demo gets closer to release.
Even though we cannot provide a definite release date for the demo, we want everyone to know that we all want nothing more than for it to be released as soon as possible.
Thank you for sticking with us,
- The Archthrones team
2023-12-24 19:36:46 +0000 UTC View PostHello everyone!
We'd like to make a statement regarding the demo's delay:
First, all work done for this mod is done in the free time of each developer. This amount of time changes for each of us each day, the variance is immense. One week we’ll knock out several glaring issues and the next none of us are online. We saw what we could do at our best, and naively set our goals to that. This is one of our missteps as a team, and we have many others that aren’t exactly as cut and dry as setting ourselves unrealistic expectations.
Second, we all had that “just one more thing” and for a while none of us had the restraint to not push for our one thing. With all the extras getting pushed in, things that needed to get in were being left behind, and the new things started mudding what was demo content and what wasn’t. We then had to draw a line in the sand to keep or shelve things. Which lead to people pushing their one thing anyway, which lead to conflict and clashes in vision, tension in the team, and ultimately less getting done.
Third, poor communication. As said before, our volunteers work when they have time. Which leads to us asking a question of “is this done” and getting a “it was done a week ago” or “I thought X already did it” a day later. We’ve tried to implement light project management strategies to address this, but none have worked due to inexperience with those strategies. There exist several project boards out there for this project and none of them have an appropriate set of members to see and work on them. It’s getting better as time goes on and we adapt these strategies to the way we work, but it’s far from perfect, making predicting end dates for projects difficult.
Fourth, those darn play testers. They keep finding bugs, issues, inconsistencies, typos, and crashes. Which is great! But that does mean more time fixing it. At the time of writing, we have over 200 action items left to sort through. Some are simple, some are hurdles the greater community never approached, but we are trying to. All of this to say, we really misjudged what we could do, and set an aggressive deadline for it. Working with this game is hard, working with people is hard, but we are working hard.
Demo is still a thing. At the moment it's at its 'final' phase of testing and it will come out whenever it's ready.
The team is gearing up for the final push to complete the demo.
We’re dotting out i’s, crossing our t’s, and most importantly, making sure it’s fun for everyone to play.
With feedback from our play testers continuing to pile up, it’s clear that we have more work in front of us than we expected.
We hope to post more updates in the coming weeks about where we are and what’s to come.

Greetings Emissaries of Embers.
We are still hard at work working on the demo and thank you for your patience.
More information will be available soon.
Hello everyone, we’d like to take the time to thank you for your continued support and remind everyone that Archthrones is a project consisting solely of big fans like you.
We set ourselves an ambitious goal of releasing a Demo in September so we could share with all of you the progress we’ve made and give you a taste of the story we wish to tell.
Unfortunately, to deliver on that, we’re going to need a bit more time to polish what we have, pushing our release to October.
The extra time will relieve some of the stresses from our team members.
We ask for your continued patience as we finalize the Demo so we can put forward an experience we are proud of.
Thank you.
Excited for the demo?

Thank you so much everyone for helping out!
The reception was overwhelming and we're very touched that people care so much about the mod.
We hope you enjoy the demo when it's out.
There's no actual release date yet but it's definitely this month.
So hang tight while we tie up loose ends.
The mod will definitely feel like its own game and there's a lot of content to explore.
Here's a small bonus for all your efforts:
The Frozen Chaos:
Greetings champions.
We're bringing unfortunate news.
Patreon (our main source of income) has pulled some strange stunt which caused a lot of our patrons payment to decline and thus a large sum of our monthly income got close to halved.
This is an emergency to be honest cause without financial support the mod cannot continue being worked on.
If you like the mod and want to help us out of this crisis then please support us with how much you can spare so we can return to our former income amount.
As for where to support, we think Ko-Fi is generally safer but if u still prefer patreon then by all means.
Our page is in our info on the profile and if you need the kofi link then just search 'Archthrones Ko-Fi' on google.
I'm not linking the pages on the main post cause site algorithm might cause it to not reach out more people.
Thank you for understanding.
P.S: The demo is being worked on as we speak and we'll let you know on a release date once we finish up touching up loose ends.
Since a bunch of peeps been taking the meme a bit seriously,
We're sorry that it was taken the wrong way, it was all in good fun but we understand that it does not reflect that way.
We have the utmost respect for FromSoftware.
We wouldn't be making Archthrones if we didn't.
The actual intent of the meme was that Miyazaki keeps quiet about the DLC while being happy about the mod.
Cheers.
