Sorry, I was gone for a couple weeks.

As you know, even with all the good thoughts of the world, there is moments when motivation just isn't here. And you also know that being constant isn't my thing, and I prefer to not pretend when things aren't great. 

But here I am with this illustration I made of a picture I took like 3 years ago, I believe.

I always wanted to redraw my photos, but  felt like I didn't have the skills before. But I've been experimenting so much lately that I'm finally ready!

I am still not satisfied with the final image, but better done than perfect. 

Fingers crossed the lockdown will soon be a weird memory!

I just wanted to send you this little note, to tell you that your support is such a blessing in these weird times. I am extremely lucky to have this little financial security  when "normal work"  has been postponed. Thank you so much, really.

But also, I want you to know that if you are having a hard time financially, you are completely allowed to pause or stop your participation. I would definitely understand that you have other priorities at the moment.

Today, I am so happy to share with you these pictures of the best client I've ever had so far. 

I am overwhelmed by all the support I receive since I came back to France and all the people that decide to trust me. I still can't believe that now I get paid to do some jobs I would have paid to do not long ago. 

At first, when Sofiane contacted me, I was convinced that it was either a scammer, or my local ex who harassed me a few years ago that was trying to find a way to get to me. But no ex, no scam, just a dream client.

His goal was to take pictures to submit his profile to a model agency, because he wants to offer positive representation to younger trans kids that look like him. He is the absolute best and this agency'd better sign him up as soon as they receive the pictures. 

He really wanted the pictures to portray his wide range of gender play and I loved this so much. 

We still have to take a couple more outdoor pictures after the lockdown, and I honestly can't wait.

Because it is a client work, I won't necessarily go too much into the details, but all I want to say is that I definitely learnt from this experience.

That doesn't mean they can't evolve, of course. Just that to go to a more positive vibe, we can't just hide them under the carpet, or they'll come back by the window! 

You don't have to thrive, be over productive or take care of everybody around you. You are allowed to take a break and breath.

You are allowed to have for only goal to finish this embroidery you started 5years ago when you saw a tutorial on a Russian Youtube channel.

I think about y'all and really hope you are in a comfortable place during this lockdown.

This illustration is based on a "Shameless US" scene that honestly made me feel so good. If you don't watch this show yet, Ian and Mickey are like these problematic soulmates that, despite the fact they were drastically different, couldn't resist the love that they shared. So, through the episodes and seasons, they got stronger, together. 

Being myself, pretty problematic when it comes to intimate long term relationships, due to way to many factors that I am trying to get rid off, this story kind of secretly gives me hope that one day, I'll be able to trust someone enough to grow with them for a little while. 

If you haven't found your person yet, that's fine. They may exist. Or not. What matters is that YOU exist as an absolutely unique human being and that should be celebrated.

Sneak Peek full of love.

First of all, I hope you're doing great! And I hope that you're proud of who you see when you look in the mirror!

Here is another sneak peek of a session I did previously and that I still haven't finish to edit, which kind of stress me out, to be honest.

Since I got back to France, my luck level has been ridiculously high, which means that I am now drowning under projects I am really into. The only tiny down side is that I don't necessarily have enough time to work quickly on them.

But I'm getting there!

Tiny little update

How are you doing in this beginning of March?

I finally found time to create little images to make the pledges options prettier and I personally really like the way they turned out.

For once, it even gave me the opportunity to share my art with my grandma (since it doesn't involve naked LGBTQIA+ people) who told me that I should definitely think about selling my stuff. ahah

Grieving a stranger.

A week or so ago, an artist I've been following for quite a while passed away.

We all knew that she wasn't doing well, due to her recent cancer diagnosis, but the doctor gave her at least a full year left, so it was really shocking to discover that she had died.

It reminded me that during all these years, I never took time to tell her that I appreciated her work. Probably because I thought she already had a lot of people telling her (which is probably true, with her 2+ millions followers).

But first, we never receive enough kind words. 

And second, what if everybody else thought the same. 

We currently live in a world where most artists have to create (a lot of) free content in order to be seen and paid for their work. The least we can do is tell her that we appreciate their effort and work, I think.

I am not writing this post to tell you to validate me more!! I am writing it to tell myself to be kinder to my fellow artists, because they fucking deserve an extra boost!

Inspiration.

There is inspiration absolutely everywhere, and for everything.

Your morning coffee, your menstrual cramps or the storm can inspire you your next project. Take time to let your heart connect with the little things of life (well, menstrual things aren't little things, but you get the idea!).

And don't let self doubt convince you that you can't do things.

If seeing yourself in the mirror while brushing your teeth inspired you to draw a giant tooth brush, DO IT. Even if you never drew before. Everybody started somewhere. Take it as an opportunity to expand yourself.

How vulnerable do you allow yourself to be?

We all learn that vulnerability is a weakness and that we have to shove it in and forget about it.

I personally think that it is quite the opposite. It takes a huge amount of strength and courage to show the world and yourself who you really are.

So next time you feel stupid for crying, laughing too much, or sharing your emotions, remember that all of these are only proofs that you're a fucking badass.

Don't forget that the most precious form of love that exist is self love. It doesn't mean that you can't want/have someone(s) in your life, just that you can give yourself the type of affection you're seeking in others.

I used to be quite emotionally dependent. I was convinced that all my worth depended on my partners' validation. Until I discovered that I could work on self validation and that nobody should have such a huge power on me, besides myself.

Little Update!

I hope you're doing great and that life is treating you well :)

I just wanted to apologize for my lack of posts lately, I am quite overwhelmed by many projects and didn't even take a full day off in weeks.

I am currently working on:

_ a photo project for a Yoga Studio to raise funds for Le Planning Familial, and the work is way more than expected,

_ visuals for a Queer Prom in the UK,

_ helping a friend with marketing and visuals for her really cool project,

_ preparing personal photo projects - FINALLY - but (as usual) it takes more energy than expected, 

_ thinking about how I could come back on Youtube, because I really miss this platform, 

_ a sex positive illustration project for Valentine's Day that counts 7 illustrations, 

_ opening 3 commissions spots for Valentine's Day,

_ upcoming clients' photoshoots,

_ many administrative and medical stuff,

_ ways to sell some prints since it's been requested by my followers lately,

_ probably other stuff that I even forgot.

I think about y'all everyday and I wanted to thank you for your patience and support. Really. You're so precious to me!

Okay, let's be honest here, I don't like my interpretation of this prompt, at all. I might even skip sharing it in my feed. But you know that I'm trying my best to be real with y'all and that implies showing you even the bad tries, right?

I think I went for an over simplified interpretation of the prompt. Like "oh Minna has a website? Let's show the website!!" but I could have went way farther with it. I will maybe re try making this prompt in the future if I find the time and interpretation.

Today, I want you to know that you're very very important, and not only for me, but for the whole world. You're a necessary piece of our society and I hope you never diminish yourself or your self worth.

I decided that after this challenge, I was going to seriously rethink my interpretation of color. I am just starting with this new addition to my art, and I of course need to experiment to see what works for me and what doesn't.

My Birthday is on its way!

I hope you're doing well!

As usual, when January comes, it brings back my Birthday (January 25th) and lots of emotional roller coasters for me! 

I don't really know how/if I'll celebrate it this year, 'cause I usually tend to plan something big, freak out last minute and want to cancel it all, but the guilty feeling of cancelling on people drains all my energy, and I end up going, stressing out, judging the couple of people who don't come and spending a good night anyways.

So I'll see how I feel about the whole thing.
