BUT THEY ALL LOOK LITTLE MOBILE ART ASSETS AND I CAN HEAR THE MARIO & LUIGI SUPERSTAR SAGA LINE-UP IN MY HEAD BUT THAT'S OKAY.

Lots of fun stuff here.  Everyone has color schemes now, so that's good.  Equal parts shitposts and experimentation. (okay maybe a bit more shitposts.)  Barlowe's finally getting some love.  Evan deals with the burdensome knowledge of AU's.  Adventures in figuring out Chess's final pokemon form.  More Cleo abuse, but at least her hair gets nifty.

Friday Night Live Read

Last Friday night, some of y'all tuned into my stream for a live-read of Give Yourself Goosebumps and LittleLibrarian's Hellhound's story.

Doing that was a lot of fun, I'd like to keep to keep it up, make it a regular thing if possible :y

Anyhow, feel free to make suggestions for future live-reads.  Silly stuff, weird stuff, wild stuff is encouraged.  Tomorrow night I plan to start around 8:00 P.M. central at  https://picarto.tv/sharkrags .  I'll either start a new CYOA or do a read another route in Night in Bat Wing Hall, as well as reading Coyote Daughter.

Candlelight Cove Dump 2: LOTS OF CLEO EDITION

LOCAL STANDOFFISH RBF QUEEN RECEIVES LOTS OF LOVE BEFORE TURNING INTO SCARY WOLF.

Up to now I've mostly been drawing character concepts with little backdrop to actually ground them, so I enjoyed giving them a bit of environment to inhabit.  Can you tell I'm a fan of spooky forests?

I started drawing pokemon trainers to practice drawing humies and I couldn't help but going all the way with them.  Hope you have some super potions on hand, they mean business.

And yes, Koop already drew tf'd forms for some of these ladies.

Girl Bunny Evan: Requiem

Evan's continuing adventures in turning into a busty bunny girl since arriving to Candlelight Cove.  Regrettably non-canon.

Technically this is KD's request that grew out of control before I drew the first stroke across the canvas.  If you guys haven't been keeping up with my Candlelight Cove stuff and Wat's decimation of the lore then this ain't gonna make any sense.

It's been repeatedly pointed out to me that this is the longest look we've had at the characters, and yes, that distresses me immensely.  But I had a good time here.

Candlelight Cove Dump (Lore Included)

I draw this crew a lot, because they're fun and make great warm-up material.  Therefore, I'll be making dedicated posts for them going forward so every image dump isn't filled with cats and psycho-wolves.

In the meantime, have a concept summary, because you people should have context for this thing I keep going on about.

Somewhere there's a town, a small flicker of light nestled between the sea and a vast, vast forest.  No one knows where it is, but the only way to arrive is by washing up on its shores.  The sun never quite rises, and it doesn't stay up for long.  The people there are strange, with secrets to share and secrets to keep. They all seem to come from different times and places, and what's more, the longer you stay, the more you start to change, and people can stay for a long, long time. The townsfolk make a reasonable living growing whatever takes to the soil and salvaging debris that washes up on the beach, doing what they can to make it through the night and with each other. Of course, living near the woods doesn't make this easier.  The forest is filled with voices that know your name, that know who you are, and know what you've done. Sometimes these voices are imagined, sometimes terribly real, but they are always, always calling.

It's a place where light is precious, but you must live with what it reveals, along with the shadows it casts.

Candlelight Cove is the town's name, or at least the only name anyone remembers.

Some townsfolk:

Olli: A calico.  Musically inclined, she's more or less the only source of entertainment in town (or the only one worth noting, if you ask her.)  If you don't like her insistence on covering prog-rock tunes on her accordion, you're out of luck.  Excitable, exuberant, and a show-off.  She plays loud.

Eliza: A saluki.  She stands guard on the wall separating the town from the forest because sometimes bad, bad things try to break in and she's having none of it. Considering what happens to Cleo, you can figure out what she has to contend with.  She has proven her ability to do the job many, many times over.

Brynne: A rat.  A smile always seems to linger on her snout, but her demeanor makes it difficult to tell what she’s smiling about.  Her lack of sight doesn't hinder her ability to know what's happening to those around her.  Her other senses can pick up on things going on inside you before you even realize what’s happening.  Knows the town backwards and forwards and in directions you don’t even know exist.

Chesapeake: Slowly, slowly turning into a bat.  A relative newcomer, she finds herself deep in the throes of whatever effects people in town and detests every minute of it.  Distant and reserved, she keeps her demeanor on a tight leash, lest she “agitate her condition.”  The wings makes things difficult for her, but she refuses to budge on her stylistic sensibilities.  

Cleo:  Another new arrival, as is evident.  She wants nothing more than to leave this place before “it gets to her.”  Wholly unwilling to trust anyone in town.  Cleo is stubborn, bull-headed, and has zero interest in making friends.  Things only get worse for her, but does she deserve it?

Barlowe: A fox.  His arm came off long before he showed up.  Growing the tail but no missing appendages left him convinced that this place, whatever it is, is laughing it up.  At this point he’s more tired than anything else.  A long-timer, he prefers to spend his days drinking, fishing, drinking, playing cards, drinking, and drinking.

Evan: The newest arrival to town.  A fast-talker in love with the sound of lies, even the bad ones.  Small things tend to go missing around him.  Not always as clever as he thinks he is.  Evan must now contend with a place where lies come to a boil and secrets snap like bear traps.

Long story short: It will be a long form piece of character drama with strong tf elements and bountiful suffering.  The plan is to take the illustrated novel approach, and Mob Mentality is the dry run for the entire concept.  It’ll be fun.

Coyote Daughter (Post Launch Story Patch Edition)

Turns out the other pdf file was held together with duct tape and flew apart at the seams when used in readers outside of browsers.  Also it looked like it was made for ants on smaller displays, and looked weird on larger displays.

Since I want to provide a good viewing experience, I reformatted the file for improved stability and readability.  So pop this version open and see how it works for you :y  

Currently experimenting with getting multiple file support for these things, but this will serve for now.

Coyote Daughter (Illustrated)

After years away, a woman is called back to the desert that was once her home.  All she carries with her is a pack holding the bare necessities, a mysterious coyote pelt, and one last matter of family to settle.

Completing this story was like pulling teeth.  This project survived file corruptions and a hard drive crash, but now it's wrapped up and ready for everyone to see.   I hope you all enjoy it.  

Foxy Date (Dressed to Impress Edition)

A guy has a miserable experience at a speed-dating event.  And then a fox sits down at his table with a participant tag pinned to her collar.  He has five minutes to figure out what's going on and keep at least one date from leading to disaster.

I took a previously-written short story and welded a lot of spit and polish on top.  I'd like all written works going forward to have an extra layer of presentation.  Even if you've read the previous version, this one has a few changes to the text to help freshen it up.  

And if you've never read it before, this the best version of the story to read!  It's short, it's breezy, it's fun, there's a fox!

1/31/2020 Sketches

Kicked off the year with trying out new things while approaching art with some good results.  Cheetahsphinxladybuttwinggirl is almost finished, but I still wanted to upload her base sketch.  Also more big angry werewolf girl because I don't have any biases at all, nope.

Bonus: finished a rough draft last night and should have a new story ready to roll out by next week.

Working on this was a blast.  Threw a whole lot of new things at the wall and I'm happy to see what stuck.  I wanted practice at throwing illustrations and text together before tackling a full story, and I'm very pleased with the results.
