FLASHGITZ FRIDAY 01/ 23

BROTHERS! Welcome back to the sacred sanctuary that is Flashgitz Friday: A place where the passage of time is welcomed and embraced.

What has the passage of time brought us this week?

UPDATES! Lots and lots of precious production updates! The kind of updates that make your toes curl until the knuckles are white. Sorry, that sounded better as I was writing it. 

First update: the lunchboxes! It looks like a lot of good little boys are getting their lunch boxes in the mail. It makes us all over here at Flashgitz very happy to see you all posting your photos on social media. Keep posting them and let everyone else know how much they missed out! We expect another bulk shipment going out next week, and a final shipment of lunchboxes to be shipped early February. Everyone waiting to get their order will receive an email with an update in the next few days!

If you didn’t get yours yet, maybe you were too naughty this year? JUUSSTT KIDDING! If you haven’t gotten yours yet, expect an email from our lovely merch people with details on your upcoming order.

With that out of the way, it’s time to get onto what you’ve come here for: SPACE KING 5 UPDATES!

This week, Space King 5 has been having its animatic finished up. There were certain spoiler-ridden parts that needed to be gone over with a fine-tooth comb, but we’re finally getting the bow put on top. But just because we’re focusing on the animatic doesn’t mean the other departments get to GOOF OFF.

In fact, backgrounds and assets have been putting in a lot of design work, but with a toon as big as this, there’s still a lot more to go. Take a look at some of the submissions we’ve been getting and just take a look at the massive scope of episode 5 so far.

An absolutely MASSIVE “chamber” that’s bigger than a hundred mega-churches.

Some color designs of the chamber. Which one is your favorite? I like the one that’s blue like Sonic :)

A design for an extension Don’s going to build onto his house. Turns out, we can just bill the background department for whatever we want!

A colored Relic Vault. In the front you can see the ticket muncher.

More colored designs of our infernal Thomas the Tank Engine.

The beautiful and crisp linework of our train getting its teeth brushed.

Give the background department a big hand because this isn’t easy. Have you ever tried drawing a train? You have? Have you tried it past the age of 25? No? Thought not.

But the tour doesn’t end there. I still have some fun things to show off from some of our great asset designers! Take a look!

Trains AND planes? This is every boy’s fantasy!

More plane designs with bigger fins to fall on people as the planes explode in mid-air.

The lines of a big chunky plane. How it even gets off the ground, I have no idea.

Some of the colorized planes, where they use their size to utilize a unique strategy called “crash landing.”

WOAH How did that get in there? Looks like there’s gonna be some HOGS in this episode!

I don’t know about you guys but I’m getting pumped up for this episode. This is going to be our biggest episode yet you’re going to want to be there for it. So strap in over the next couple of months and watch as this develops into something that’ll make you wet yourself. Know what really sucks though/ I have to wait just as long as you guys do to see the finished episode!

Oh well, at least we always have the Tom and Don channel to tide us over until then!

This week’s video on Tom and Don is about ranking each of the Space Marine chapters! Some Space Marines are cool and some are stupid. Which are which? It’s a good thing you have your good friends Tom and Don to tell you!

Totally unbiased and objective ranking. Especially when it’s time to rank the Black Templars.

Remember the Ultrasmurfs cartoon? It’s like Smurfs except there’s NO females.

Always set aside time to color your shameful grey miniatures.
