Tiny Progress and i giant distraction

Well its been 3-4 weeks instead of 2 planned weeks since the last post.
Its kinda annoying me to to constantly not meeting progress reports.

Sadly there was no choice.

Over the second half of the 3-4 weeks I had a giant side project coming up and basically porting with a friend a mod to a newer version.
It took us around 3 days of porting + 10 days of bugtesting with around 10 people.

But that project is now so small that it eats now almost nothing anymore.
Anyway what happened in the 1.5 weeks that I actually worked on the game.

Which was not a whole lot since I was still reworking the EntityRenderer and also added some features like rotating Entities and also adding actual "Spawner Logics" when you place down entities like trees and Foresters (right now the only things in the game).

Here is an example:

As you can see I was also adding ground boxes for the current hovering which was nice but brought up new problems as I had to write a new shader to make a highlighter.

This highlighter is limited to 25 boxes at any given time, which is good but as soon I have a double click on something that highlights a lot you run out of them. So I kinda needed a infinite version of it.

The Concept of that is already implemented into my code but still on "disabled" state until my shaders are ready for it, but what I am basically doing is to limit my terrain tile types to 256 which was already the case and reduce the terrain texture from 3 bytes to 1 byte which gives me 2 free bytes for the overlay that's being used live allowing me to make a "dominant" or "mixing" overlay depending on what is needed.

So I can now allocate as many boxes as I want as long they don't use more then 256 unique colors, or if they can mix not more then 8 different colors. Which doesn't seem like a lot, but these can be any terrain tiles and is no longer be based on boxes or circles I can have any shape I want to implement.

And that was basically all that I had time for before that side project came into play.

It was at a good time where I was already kinda drained of my game (happens to everyone) and now I feel refreshed and pumped to continue my game.

Thanks for reading and for the patience.

Speiger.

Ps: Next one comes in 2 weeks again for sure.
