Sewers of Paris: Behind the Scenes with Betty White (Ep 373 - The Golden Girls/Jim Colucci)
Added 2022-02-10 17:00:06 +0000 UTCMy guest this week on The Sewers of Paris is Jim Colucci, author of numerous books about the behind-the-scenes stories of the making of classic TV shows. In his work he’s had opportunities to interview greats like Norman Lear, Betty White, and Bea Arthur — but the REALLY good stories are about what happened after the interviews were over.

what a great interview. Jim really captures what life was like in the 80s and 90s for me, gay in the closet in Canada. Some of those shows really had a big impact for closeted gay people - for me it was Billy C on Soap, Steven on Dynasty, the movie Making Love (uuuk!), All In the Family are some of the early ones.

But both being in the south, black and living on a farm they didn't have the same effect on me. Also I was way more into si fi and comics 1930 movies, 1950 monster movies and horror TV shows. But I did like 60's and 70's comedy shows, also western. But that's mostly because my mother and father liked them.
