Chihaya sank down to the submerged floor and made her way toward the agape door. She let her head out into the flooded isle and her eyelids blinked a few times.

(Aya…)

Saltwater still hurt in her eyes, but maybe she was getting accustomed to the sting. She was comfortable to look around and try to see through the blur. The hallway stretched forward, and a little further down it made a turn in an acute angle. Chihaya recognized it from her initial dive. She swam to where the isle turned sharply and put her hands along its corner. She would then pull her body around the corner and head toward the mess hall.

Suddenly, she felt a quick jarring blow to her torso. Apparently, it had emerged out of the hall and seemed to pause and flinch upon impact. But it quickly readjusted itself and darted past Chihaya. It was making headway to the air pocket.

(Ugh)

Hit with a stabbing pain, Chihaya again let out a cloud of bubbles. Her vision was very impaired, but the thing had a form of a short haired girl swimming with all her strength, with one hand pressed hard against her mouth.
