Someone was talking to me about rubber/inflatable transformations. I'm not a huge fan of them, myself. But the conversation did inspire an idea that intrigued me. Using such a thing as a trigger/catalyst, rather than the end result. An initial changed into an inflatable or similar form. That form then being overfilled or something and bursting, causing a second transformation into a living version of the creature depicted. I made the original sketch quickly just to get the idea on paper.
Later on, I used bits of it for shading practice, and wanted to try creating a contrast between cell-shaded and soft-shaded parts of the same drawing. I don't have any real plans to finish this, but I might reuse the concept later.
