Absolutely, in my experience if you have a good rapport with the class then both self effacing humor and light teasing (carefully) can be fun and humanizing. Anything that breaks the monotony of class and the lifeless roles of teacher and student.

I think eraser head and Koro sensei would get along, eraser might be put off my his bombastic display but you can see when you get one on one wit koro sensei he is a kind teacher. 2. It’s a hard balance to strike but a bit of mild gloating from a teacher can really improve a students mood. Note, that it has to be a give and take. You give a little flack and your students give you some flack, learning can be extremely stressful and some jokes can greatly lower that pressure. I think koro senseis gloating was a bit of tactical reinforcement. He said lyou would be hard pressed to find him bound up like this again”, meaning a way to corner him is to restrict his movement. Also when he laugh and says “you lack the capabilities to get up here ha”, he basically saying “you had me closer to death than before, I had to escape not just dodge your attack” As you said, you need some professionalism, you are their teacher, but that gap between student and teacher doesn’t have to be massive, if you are able to properly close that gap a little it can really make students warm up to a teacher Long ass rant over
