You might not see this, but I was following your HQ reactions on youtube a while ago, realized that I haven't seen your movie one, checked Patreon, and sure enough — easiest $5 spent :"D Really enjoyed your reaction and discussions just like before. I may have quoted this before, but someone described Haikyuu as "life in a volleyball package", more or less what you were talking about. As for "how does the show keep doing it" — the craziest thing is, it just keeps doing it until the very end. So I cannot overstate how much I'm looking forward to your reactions to the future content.

2025-01-12 02:00:53 +0000 UTCLike a few others here, I thought the movie felt rushed, trying to cram in as much as possible into as little time as possible. The story was great, but I'm not a super fan of how the studio adapted it. I think it's a really strong contrast with White Fox studio's clear effort to eke out every last second of time for Re:Zero, having an intro and outro in only about half of the episodes, for example. Very much enjoyed the commentary, although I often feel like I'm missing out by not having invested in stocks after watching these, haha! Also, with much respect and admiration, the 'dink/doink/dip' is called a "dump," haha.

2025-01-11 18:20:59 +0000 UTCIncredible movie, even better reaction. Awesome Saturday and more Goodwin Greatness. Man I can't believe how great the Haikyuu journey has been with Mr.Goodwin. I think there is going to be another movie to be made and I already cannot wait. This story has so much inspiration and innately I am able to understand that there is substance in these stories. I'm able to recognize that there is value to a story like this and to deem it as "great". But then Mr.Goodwin articulates it incredibly and allows me to see it from new angles as well as the depth of the story that I, someone with less literary proficiency, couldn't have understood or comprehended in the way that he does. It truly did make my weekend! Thank you! <3

2025-01-11 11:26:52 +0000 UTCI didn't think about how that's the flipside of you have to be good at something to find it fun. That's so cool :D

2025-01-11 06:43:43 +0000 UTCoh i have a lot to say so this movie does cut out like 50% of the manga content for the arc but it's still a decent enough adaption and gets the main story across. however, i really wish they could have spared an extra 5 minutes for grandpa ukai and nekomata's backstory cause they were the ones who started the whole rivalry in the first place! it's in chapter 293 of the haikyuu manga if you feel like reading it (though i suggest reading the whole manga version of the arc for more great character moments from basically everybody). i love love love the "we just need to lower the net" line so much, accessibility is so important to get people to try out stuff they never would have or could have otherwise. i pray the end of the series gets a good enough adaptation so you can see how that line comes full circle. it's also super interesting how nekomata says in order to get good at something you need to find it fun, while grandpa ukai previously stated that you need to get good at something in order to find it fun. i get what ukai sr. was saying but i personally can't think of a time i didn't find something fun and felt the need to improve upon it anyways, so maybe having nekomata as a coach would be best for me lol. so with this movie done, there is one more left but yet we have multiple arcs that haven't been adapted. i have no idea how the hell that's gonna work but i look forward to your next haikyuu reaction and am excited for ass class. thanks alex!

2025-01-11 03:42:28 +0000 UTCthis movie is so well adapted. it’s a shame they had to trim quite a bit of stuff but was still really good (for reference, the shiratorizawa match was 10 episodes and this one would probably be 8-9 if they didn’t cut anything, but they still compressed it really well).
