Happy New Year! I think it’s both — There is definitely still a disconnect with Subaru putting Emilia on some kind of pedestal, but I also think he can still deeply care for her at the same time. It's just that, because he internally put her on this pedestal, that he like doesn't recognize he should ask and potentially talk about what happened and so on. — Well, that's my opinion and reading of it atleast

(My comment for the episode: I really struggle with this idea that Subaru can 1) care deeply for Emilia, but 2) not care to ask how she really feels, or what she's doing. Like, am I imposing my own behavior on other people, or is it unrealistic for someone to both feel deep affection for someone and not at least ask what the person thinks and feels?)

2025-01-02 02:36:54 +0000 UTCRe: Zero day! Great thoughts as usual. I really love the pacing and feel of this episode. Lots of intrigue, character building, and mysteries to solve. Love the scene at the beginning with Echidna and the questions she raised, and I also love Subarus answer, showcasing the truth and flaws in both of their conclusions. I loved reading her dialogue in the novels, and her VA is just excellent. She’s in one breath super shady and scary, but then in the next seductive and charming. I absolutely adore every single scene that Roswaal is in, he’s just a fantastic characters. I liked your thoughts on how Subaru is sort of doing something similar to Roswaal, even if it’s unconscious. There’s a lot of scenarios in this episode that have nuanced answers, with different perspectives on how to handle it. But yeah, lots of setup and new questions. Loved some of the smaller stuff, like how Ram is clearly watching out for Subaru and really cares about him, despite her attitude. Also Garf is great, him liking Ram is super relatable. Me too bro. Glad Otto is easing his way into your good graces as well lmao. And Elsa is back. Super excited for the next one!
