Happy Holidays! (and upcoming schedule thoughts)

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and soon to be Happy New Year!

With Dan Da Dan ending its half-season this week and Arcane ending in a few weeks, there's some big shoes to fill.

Here's what I'm thinking:

A side note for anyone interested: This course of action was quite difficult for me, by far the hardest since I started the channel. I think that's just a necessary consequence of watching great things faster than they can come out. I deliberated on this for a while, and initially I thought it might be the best time to dip back into live action. The only thing is... there really isn't anything that stands out to me as an obvious, must-watch choice that I haven't already seen. I'm not sure why that is exactly. Side side discussion but it seems like there haven't been any real huge cultural TV events for quite some time, though it could be that I'm just out of touch (very likely). Where are the Breaking Bads and the Game of Thrones? (I know about House of the Dragon but it doesn't seem to have the same unified cultural significance as its predecessor). Is it streaming services? Are we all "withdrawing into our own small gated community, afraid of a larger forum, staying inside their our little ponds, leaking whatever "truth" suits us into the growing cesspool of society at large," like the MGS2 Patriots predicted? Are we neither clashing nor meshing? Where is the clashing and meshing???

Side side note, I actually was thinking One Piece would be amazing right now and, despite the con of being extremely long, has the positive element of predictability and stability (for a really long time). But I've heard there's a newer version coming, so it makes more sense to wait for that.

Anyway, this is the plan for now!

Thank you for all of the wonderful comments and support this year. It means the world to me, more than I could ever express with the power of all my yapping abilities combined.

Love you all and I wish you all a happy holiday season, and joy, success, meaning, personal fulfillment, all the good stuff for 2025!

TLDR:

Comments

Hello, new subscriber here. I really enjoy your reactions and this wouldn’t specifically be to fill your slice of life request ( although some episodes definitely have that feel!), I would LOVE to see your reaction to Link Click.

Lex

Hello! New subscriber here! I don’t know if this has been considered before, but for a show that isn’t action-focused, The Apothecary Diaries would be a great idea, especially considering that the protagonist would probably be very interesting for you! Both the anime, the manga, and even the light novel that inspired them were insanely popular last year, so most people have probably already seen at least one reaction to it, but your perspective is always special. Plus, it’s popular for a reason, and that reason is having a premise that’s different from most Japanese manga, as it’s obviously inspired by Chinese works.

Ana Julia Nascimento

You probably won't read this but I just thought of some recent live action recommendations. Good shows I'd be super interested in you commentating on are: Severance, Squid Game, Fallout, Last of Us, and mostly, DARK (one of the best shows I've seen in the past 5 years or so).

Aidan Pullen

I'm just going to use the benefits of this newly acquired Patreon membership to tell you that if you do want to get into Live Action Reactions but can't think of what series to watch, I will never not recommend Marvel's Agents of Shield. It should be on Disney +, so easily accessible. Now hear me out - this is one of, if not possibly the best TV show I have ever seen. If you're not a fan of Marvel stuff usually I get that but do not let the Marvel moniker fool you into thinking less of it. The first season is a bit "villain of the day"-ish for two thirds of it. That's because it needed to wait on a certain Marvel movie to release in theaters to reveal its own plot twist (the earlier seasons tie in with the MCU, they totally dropped that later on). Bur after that...boy oh boy does this series take off an never look back. And they actually managed to stick the landing after 7 seasons too! Just a suggestion ofc, but thought I would put that out here.

Janny

For live action I recommend: The Bear, The Good Place, or Umbrella Academy. As for slice of life type anime: Carol and Tuesday, Aggretsuko, or Beastars

Diana Ortiz

Gigachad

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

I like hyouka and toradora as well

Marko

this is what i was gonna say! I never hear many people talk about it, but its a really good show!! :D

Sweetbun

You reaaaaaaally need to check out Beastars man, it's up yer alley.

NB1K

I'd put forward the Haunting of Hill House, for live action

Paintmosi

Definitely try watching One Piece. Also some other recommendations I have are Psycho Pass, Solo Leveling, and Tokyo Ghoul As for Live Action, best of this past year has been Fallout

LooseSeal

AoT rewatch 👀

Joey Healy

Although some rom-com's I would also consider to be slice of life, like Oregairu or Toradora, which I would love to see your reactions to as well and are very popular.

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

For a slice of life show... Kyoto Animation are the unquestionable kings of that genre. Hyouka, K-On!!, and Bocchi the Rock would be my recommendations to be on the poll. The outcome really depends on what you define as slice of life or not, if there are hyper popular rom-com's or sports anime that are included under slice of life they will win the poll over a more geniune SoL series.

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

Fruits Basket movie and Look Back would be incredible. Please do these two films. They are both on the short side as well, Look Back is only 1 hour-ish.

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

Really? In my opinion the "Yellow things" Dub voice actor is amazing and a highlight of the show for me I think him and the rest of the cast do a great job!

Mjw

Psycho-pass

Neygem

Please watch Look Back. Beautiful story and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it

Miguel

Cough cough… hunter x hunter manga. Movie wise have you seen Godzilla minus one? Its amazing. A really hidden gem anime show that will make you feel good is dr stone!!! A really good anime movie to watch is a silent voice! You can also react to the one piece live action( it’s incredible). A really good sports anime is blue lock but this sports anime hahaha egoist.

Daniel Ibarra

Or returning. He did Fruits Basket a while back and it was great.

Perchik

Also, If I could recommend other shows: Beastars, Delicious in Dungeon and Hannibal. We have a LOT of amazing anime coming next year and Delicious in Dungeon season 2 is on my top list

José Sebastian Rebolledo

It's a good dub, but like so many it just doesn't reach the original by a long shot. Especially with the voice of a certain yellow thing which is kinda important considering its position in the story.

James Ancester

some live action options if you havent seen them: "Mr. Robot" and "Snowfall"

Alex

The days of the big cultural shows does seem to be over to some degree. The only things recently that seem to have picked up a lot of attention, and maybe this is just my personal circle, has been Severance and that batman/Penguin show. Speaking of live action, if you're really looking for something to sink teeth into i recommend "Fringe". It's a sci-fi drama from the bygone days of 20 episode seasons and it's one of my favorite "all time great" sci-fi shows from that early 2000's bunch of great sci-fi shows, but it shockingly has a quite small fanbase of people who have actually seen it. I rarely see it being talked about or recommended to anyone so i'd be surprised if you had already seen it and i think it's absolutely packed with interesting themes and characters for discussion. It's a sorta "creature/case of the week" format but it's one of the best shows at seamlessly tying every episode into a greater building narrative/mystery. Other then that, can i interest you in a ATLA rewatch 2? Hmmmm? I'm just joking...unless? Also for anime if you haven't seen "Ergo Proxy" i'd love if you added it to your list for consideration. It's kind of a bizarre anime, a strange cult classic and a LOT of people either love it or hate it so it might be a bit divisive so fair warning, but i feel there's something eccentrically enigmatic about it that's bewitching to watch.

Git

My biggest anime recommendation would be Beastars. It has a lot of interesting layers I feel very confident you would have a ton of fun dissecting. The show also has the benefit of being half a season away from finished, so there wouldn't be the need for long breaks inbetween! Personally I would also be excited to see Delicious in Dungeon! But might want to wait until its 2nd and final season starts airing for convenience sake. If movies are on the table I would love to see your thoughts on The Boy And The Heron (or any Studio Ghibli movie in general for that matter). I am super down with HxH manga read as well!! More live action stuff is very welcome to me! In that case I think Severance is an amazing pick! However there is only 1 season out currently and they are taking their time with season 2 (thank god). I wouldn’t mind taking breaks with you though! The The Last of Us tv show has also been very well put together so far imo (also only 1 season out currently, but season 2 should come out next year) Hope your holidays are excellent, dude :D

Fawrik

happy holidays goodwin!! what a year it’s been!! as a huuuuge one piece fan who took about a year or so to finish the saga watching the anime myself, i would be so very excited to watch along with you. it’s would be a good long stable anime that guarantee subscribers for the duration. i remember you’ve mentioned watching one piece in the past, but seem to be sticking to shorter animes, which i don’t mind since it opens more slots for a variety of different shows for your patrons, but it would have been nice to have a nice long show to enjoy with a dedicated fan base. you’d also avoid having to pick something new or pollgate or a sub or dub debate for a long while too haha either way, i’m a yearly subscriber, so i’m excited for everything you decide to do next!! hope you have a great holiday! here’s to another successful year!!

Warmlights

YES I almost forgot he needs to do Fallout it was the best show of the year

Seth

Look Back is amazing and offers more insight into the mind of the author of Chainsaw Man, everything that man writes is like poetry even if it seems chaotic at first

Seth

I think he said he watched all but the last season but YES the last season was a masterpiece

Seth

YES

💥Katsuki BakuGONE💥(Kacchan)

Oh and I was just thinking earlier today but if you wanted to try out some western animation other than ATLA, Young Justice and The Clone Wars are both PEAK (mostly)

Sunny

If you're looking for non-action recommendations, three things come to mind:  1. Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! if i had to describe it it's romance anime about geting rejected, not falling in love.                                                                                                                                                2. The Dangers in My Heart probably the best and most wholesome romance to come out in recent memory. it's about a young kid who want's to murder his classmate. 3. Call of the Night, A young boy decides to stop going to school, instead sneaking out at night for the thrill of it, but while out exploring in the night, he runs into a vampire.

Caleb Midgett

Sounds awesome! I'd be very keen on all three movie ideas! :) Assassination Classroom will be great as well I believe. One Piece would be really enjoyable in my opinion as well. However it is true that a remastering/remake of the show with better pacing is being made. However the fact that the Remastering will adhere to the original essence of the incredible story that is One Piece, is still yet to be seen. So I guess I would say, if its truly something you wish to submerge yourself into then I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of starting the One Piece Journey again along with some Goodwin Greatness! haha About the live action dilemma, I would recommend True Detective Season 1 if you haven't already experienced the amazing Rust Cole story. Unfortunately I believe the show does peak in season 1 and the seasons that come after fall off a bit due to each season being independent to each other (if you get what I mean). But that's just a suggestion I'm putting out :D Then if you are looking for something like a slice of life. I recommend another sports anime. May be a bit off putting but its about running, which I do believe you have personal gripes with. But it is a nice story about people battling possibly the hardest task of the modern day.. "cardio" haha. The anime's name is "Run With The WInd" Overall I will continue to support and watch most to all of what you decide to do. Can't wait to enjoy another year with a wonderful creator! Thank you Mr.Goodwin. I've enjoyed and loved everything you've done in 2024! Much love and pls take care of yourself <3

Emman Reed

As a fan of One Piece myself, I'd probably wait for the new adaptation to come out. It's supposed to be more faithful to the original manga. Not that the anime we have is bad; it just censors some stuff here and there, has a lot of filler arcs, and at times the pacing of the episodes can be really bad, like stretches where they're adapting half a chapter per episode. which can result in a bad watching experience. The new anime is supposed to remedy some of these issues, so maybe wait for the new one, and we can all watch it for the first time with you.

Caleb Midgett

Bojack Horseman?

coolkidsboi134

Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun is also a good one that I love rewatching

Anya Mcghee

Look Back would be great for this channel. I also highly recommend Bocchi the Rock for a 12 episode, non-action slice of life with a lot of heart!

Steve.

I’m gonna have to watch both! They look fun

Anya Mcghee

Welcome to the NHK! and Nana are both fundamental shows to who I am as a person - and are both fantastic slice of life shows. Welcome to the NHK! in particular might interest you.

Vincent

I think it's a beautiful show and I'm so happy that there's a 7th season.

Helena Flores

I'm not sure about live action but: Regarding works with huge cultural significance, there are plenty of anime that fit that description that you haven't seen yet. As far as anime goes, it seems like you've barely scratched the surface of what's out there. Pop-shonen and hyped up seasonals tend to dominate in polls and in the youtube algorithm so it's understandable, but it would be nice to see more of the "classics", or at least more stuff that is thematically rich and groundbreaking, or maybe some more controversial stuff? Your insights on every single show I've watched with you are so thoughtful that there are some shows that I literally can't wait to hear what you have to say about them. And you watching an overhyped seasonal because that's what wins the poll seems like a waste in comparison. I don't want to throw out any recommendations for shows I'm thinking of here since you only asked about live action and slice of life recs, but I do want to recommend two things you could do that will hopefully end up causing more of the kind of shows I'm thinking of to end up in the queue: 1. Make a dictator slot for yourself, where you choose a show you want to watch. If you don't think it will do well in the youtube algorithm you can make that show patreon exclusive too. 2. Make a discord server. Recommendations through youtube and patreon comments don't really get discussed, discussion is very siloed, and shows that don't get a ton of recs tend to get pushed to the bottom. In a discord server, discussion on why you should or shouldn't watch the most commonly recommended show will naturally happen and you can better judge it off of that.

Gus N

My Slice of Life recommendation would be"My Teen Romantic Comedy Snafu". One of my favorite anime and I think it would be amazing with your reaction style.

Kimats0548

Oh!! Yamada lvl 999 is fun. Your Lie in April is one I think you’d like as well. Love is Hard for an Otaku, Pluto (tho it’s not slice of life), Maquia…too many to list

Anya Mcghee

I have a recommendation since you said you wanted a long anime to watch like One Piece. I think Naruto and Naruto Shippuden is a really good choice if you want a long anime to watch, from experience its really good probably one of my favorite anime alongside Rezero and Mha. If you skip all the filler its not too long around 300 episodes. Ik it didnt really get too many votes in the last poll but the anime itself is really good and i love the theme and message of the show (Also the OST for Naruto is great) The anime starts a little slow but it becomes very enjoyable and the dub cast is great! Idk if you have defaulted to sub only but the dub cast is really good. Thats my recomendation but im excited to see whatever you choose to react to next! Im also a fan of Assasinations Classroom so that should be fun. Hope you have a great rest of your holidays and a happy new year :D

Snor

Doesn't really fit in with what you're looking for in the short term based on this post, but I'm still hoping you'll eventually tackle the Fate Series (Zero, UBW, and the Heaven's Feel Movies). There seem to be a real lack of good reactors for Fate so I'm sure there would be a lot of enthusiastic fans drawn in. Plus they're worth it for the animation and OST alone.

Anders Pike

YAAAAAASSS

Anya Mcghee

Natsume Yuujinchou!!! Honestly I feel like I see that recommended every time and I get excited every time. Such a great comfort show

Anya Mcghee

I’ve been meaning to watch Nana for ages now. Hopefully it gets on the list of recommendations

Anya Mcghee

Yoooo. Love that hidden gem

Anya Mcghee

Hey, happy holidays! Very excited for this new batch of reactions.

Anya Mcghee

skip and loafer ><

tanasia

I'm sure no one would blame you for taking the full next week off. Slice of life... slice of life... hmm.., Could you please re-word this? Because you basically mean non-action. But "slice of life" tag is very specific from what I see. Like, drama, school life, sport, romance, all of those which you'd think would qualify as "slice of life", do not get the tag. Kaguya-sama, for example, is not qualified as "slice of life". March comes in lie a lion isn't a slice of life either. However, it seems that you'd be fine with something lie that. When you make the actual poll, can you please re-define what you're looking for?

Arakis

YES

tanasia

LETS GO ASSCLASS, I’m begging you to watch it in dub please it’s an anime the has a amazing dub, like one of my favorite English performances by the cast plus with you just finishing one anime in dub it’d be nice to have another one fill its place since we don’t get that many dub reactions from other reactors online, anyway Happy holidays!

Mjw

Throwing my hat in for Severance for live action - good timing with season 2 approaching soon. Just an incredible show

MisterRathrion

Yeees that would be amazing!

Marko

Skip and loafer!!! 12 episode slice of life anime

Potato

Any chance I have to recommend Run With the Wind and I’ll be here. Technically a sports anime but very much still slice of life, even more so than Haikyuu in my opinion

Avery Strasser

LOST, brotha. It was very influential/impactful/controversial when it aired. It’s primarily a character driven story, with a lot of mystery. The ending is very polarizing, and many people have different takes on the show all throughout. The Lost community is fantastic as well.

Buddymax15

Plus (IMO) the original One Piece anime might not be technically outstanding but definitely retains the charm of that era, so I vote for starting sooner rather than waiting for a remake as well.

James Ancester

I'm happy you keep One Piece in mind. It is the biggest, most culturally significant show and manga today. The wait for the remake may take a couple of years though (there is no date on animelist yet).

Perchik

This would be perfect, in another comment this was suggested under "My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU", but yeah that would fit on this channel

ModernToad

I second this, it fits this channel perfectly :D

ModernToad

I’ve seen them mentioned elsewhere but just want to put in my vote for live action: Ted Lasso, The Bear, or The Boys. If you want to do One Piece before the new version comes out, I’d definitely recommend One Pace as a better format for doing reactions.

Nachreld

Bocchi the Rock is probably the best slice of life I've seen (But I don't generally watch too many of those.) As far as live action Succession or Severance would both be great. I can't really think of any others that are on the level of those two Have you decided on if/how you'll do the HxH manga? I think you mentioned something about doing it in the new year at some point

Sunny

if you are looking for live action you could always watch the fallout series, it won best video game adaptation at the game awards even beating arcane. There is also a lesser known movie that was shot in my hometown called snack shack if you want something not as many people have seen. its a coming of age story based on the writers childhood

Kyekva

happy holidays alex! when it comes to ass class i recommend the dub because i think the line delivery is funnier in it and the show is basically a comedy half the the time. also yes to look back! it's less than an hour so it'd be an easy watch. for live action the only shows i've heard people rave about recently are the bear and succession. i have seen the bear and it's good so i say give it a watch if you haven't :)

Ayan

Have you watched Chernobyl?

Jamal

Godwin’s shojo girlie arc incoming

Vee

Merry Christmas <3 will be waiting for pollgate 7

Perchik

Someone else suggested a silent voice for a movie for you and OMG yes. You'd love that movie

💥Katsuki BakuGONE💥(Kacchan)

Slice of life….non action…non hero show? Could this mean there’s finally a chance for Nana?! After 2 years of losing in polls?! Is our wait finally over? Someone pinch me

Vee

YES A SILENT VOICE WOULD BE SO AMAZING

💥Katsuki BakuGONE💥(Kacchan)

and yes, Look Back has my approval x1000 edit: and a hail mary for Steven Universe and Nana

Chris Sharpe

Honestly I think the current One Piece adaptation is excellent as long as you use One Pace for certain arcs, and that way you will be excited for the remake when it comes out since you will love One Piece by then (lol idk this for sure but I think you will). Although it probably is easier to just wait for the remake since you won't have to worry about stuff like knowing when to switch to One Pace and there are plenty of other shows to watch in the meantime. But if One Piece sounds appealing to you right now I would just go for it, I find that whenever I feel the urge to watch a certain show and I actually watch it, it is always amazing. Conversely, sometimes I have watched a show or read a manga that I was not really in the mood to watch but I did anyways because they were highly recommended and I did not end up liking them (although I did return to those shows when I was actually in the mood to watch them and I liked them then). Also I saw some comments recommending the Penguin and Severance and I would agree that those are definitely worth watching (especially Severance I think you would have a lot to discuss with that one). And Squid Game season 2 is coming out very soon, I don't know if you already watched the first season but I thought it was great.

kingkoopa98

Slice of Life: Bocchi the Rock. 12 episodes of great humor and relatable characters, along with fantastic music. A great look at what it's like to have social anxiety. Live action: Shogun and The Boys. Shogun is a great 10-episode story based on a book by the same name that follows an Englishman who is stranded in Japan during the 1600s. I know The Boys gets political, especially recently, but it still touches a lot of great themes and has some very well-written characters. I would also argue that both of these shows were pretty big cultural phenomenons, at least in America. I have yet to watch Look Back, but I did read it, and it was absolutely fantastic, so I would highly recommend it.

Josh Bowers

You said you were considering one piece, so i will give my opinion on the big three as a huge fan myself (do take this with a grain of salt bc i don’t know what rate of video releases you want or how focuses on views you are) One Piece: Depends on how quickly you want to release reactions. the earlier episodes are a bit quicker, but slows to a crawl later (something like less than one chapter per episode). it would have to be a pretty high rate, not bc of the viewers, but so that you can properly consume the story bc 3 episodes a week would not be too enjoyable for you (but you can always just start watching and adjust later). the story and characters you will absolutely fall in love with. i can easily see this as one of your favorite casts. the manga and story is my favorite of the three, but the anime does have some problems (yet very high highs). The lore, world building, and cast are the best i’ve ever seen. would probably get you the most views if you put in the extra work. had about 1100 episodes in total and 1000 if you skip filler (and releasing). Naruto: I have no idea which of the three would be your favorite, but it is the easiest to tell that you would love naruto, as it shares much of the lifeblood of MHA and has so many things you will adore (so it might be my best bet). could easily be your favorite show on this channel and it so core to your what you love (the other two are more distinct from the shows that you have seen before, but equally amazing). there’s even some aspects of it that align with vinland saga which i’m hyped for. there are ~700 episodes in total and about ~400 without filler (although there may be some select filler episodes you may want to see). if your willing to put in the work, one piece will probably get more views, but you’d probably still get a lot with naruto without much difference in terms of how you’ve reacted to other shows. While I prefer the manga for all three, naruto’s anime is probably the best adaptation of the manga of the three. Bleach: Absolutely amazing. couple problems with the anime adaptation but still quite stellar. There are at least a dozen characters i look at and just think “yeah, Goodwin would love this guy” with so many characters that would be in your hall of fame. it is so rich with awesome character work that would be fascinating to see you dig into the character’s mindsets. characters that have a hard time accepting their abilities and the events that happened in their lives. the original anime has 366 episodes, with only 200 without filler, not much longer than hunter x hunter, so it is the most manageable (especially if you double up on episodes). I say original anime because the anime was put on hiatus in 2012 before the final arc release, but recently started releasing a new and improved adaptation of the final arc, with incredible animation, pacing, and art direction. It will come out in 4 cours of 13 episodes. They all came out in october, the 1st in 2022, the 2nd in 2023, and the third just now in 2024. This is perfect timing as the final one likely comes out in 2025, perfect for catching up and enjoying this story for the first time (also might bring in some internet traffic). doesn’t have to be before or during, as it would still be a good time regardless.

Chris Sharpe

i second this for sure!

Daniel

i recommend the dub for assassin classroom! the main voice is iconic in the dub. as for a slice of life option, nagi no asukara, or a lull in the sea in english is a beautiful show, about romance with lots of deep interpersonal feelings at play that i would be interested to see you dissect !

Daniel

also for some reason i think a slice of life show that you would like (that’s pretty niche imo) is Nana?!?? i saw someone mentioned it here and honestly i think it’s a great rec. Pls consider it !!! i don’t think it would have much of an audience on youtube but even being considered as a patreon exclusive would be great 🥹🥹

Mima

For slice of life I reccomend Nichijou!

Gus N

Regarding live action shows, The Bear, Ted Lasso, & Shogun are all fairly recent and popular shows. The Bear in particular is ongoing and Ted Lasso got renewed for another season despite season 3 being pitched as the series finale. Shogun is a Japanese historical fiction based on a book and was only 10 episodes long. I liked how that one used translation as an important story telling device. And you don't need to know anything about Japanese history to enjoy it (plus Hiroyuki Sanada is in it). I've also heard great things about Severance but haven't watched it yet. Watching Look Back is a great idea + it's a quick watch/short. Side note, MHA's spin off (Vigilantes) is getting an anime adaption in April 2025, and I highly recommend that as well. Happy holidays and merry Christmas. Hope everything goes well with the visa run!

Chris

My prayers for an Assclass reaction have been answered. I'm stoked to hear your takes on how teaching and teacher/student relationships are explored in the show. Plus the whacky stuff of course. Wishing happy holidays and looking forward to more amazing content next year. Edit: I cast my vote for Sub when it comes to Assclass

James Ancester

Recommendations for Live action shows, but these are all pretty heavy The bear (MUST WATCH) The Penguin Severance (MUST WATCH PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE) Shogun The Last of Us

RichiPete

Wait, watch A Silent Voice instead of Look Back! Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed Look Back, but A Silent Voice is a PEAK anime movie. Edit: Obviously watch whatever you desire to watch, Look Back is still 100% worth the watch.

Gabriel Barott

I am once again asking for you to consider "Sora Yori mo Tooi Basho," otherwise known as "A Place Further Than the Universe." One of the most warm and fulfilling slice of life ever made with super sharp dialogue and pacing. Extremely relatable characters and themes, I cried like a bitch every episode when it first aired.

Marcus Bae

I think an interesting Slice of Life that would give you LOADS to talk about is "My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU", but there is kinda a lot if you watch everything...

Galleon

You make very compelling arguments 😂 Also an animator on the show? That's awesome

Alex G

Yeah and to make it worse I don't live in an English speaking country

Alex G

That's two for Severance 😊

Alex G

Barry and Dark I've seen some and all of respectively. Severance sounds interesting, actually the friend who put Dan Da Dan on my radar recommended it

Alex G

Damn 😭 that's great to hear

Goldy

Perfect 😂

Alex G

I've seen both 😁

Alex G

Day 1 of suggesting blue lock. Great slide/anime for ppl who learned all the wrong lessons in haikyuu

Rafael Miranda

I think Look Back would be something absolutely worth checking out. It’s only an hour long, but I think you’d get a lot out of it

Justice Hastings

I would also love for Goodwin to watch the original One Piece

Sirdanik

So I see all this and understand but also Yu Yu Hakusho

PKKite

And I also advocate for the penguin

Goldy

Been dying to see more To Your Eternity. Don’t forget you chose that show over the likes of JJK when you were piloting shows 😉

bl0odm1st

Yo bro id be interested in you watching the wire or Ozark ?

Goldy

Happy holidays to you! Here's hoping you can pick up Steins;Gate 0 at some point - it probably won't win any polls but iirc you had it planned anyways 🤞🏻

DennisAnimeFan

It’s also only an hour so not too much of an editing hassle

bl0odm1st

Happy holidays Alex! Not exactly a slice of life anime but I would recommend Oregairu. It's a romcom. And I feel this show is right up your lane. The protagonist does a lot of introspective inner monologuing and yapping😅.

Arvind Chander

When it comes to slice of life, my personal favorite I think you would love is definitely nichijou (the cat in my pfp is from it lol). It's probably one of the funniest animes I've ever seen on par with one punch man. I would very very highly recommend a lot of love action shows that not enough people are taking about. Specifically my favorite right now is severance, which with season 2 coming in about a month has a huge chance at blowing up again. Other shows that are fantastic are Barry and Dark. Also PLEASE watch look back you will absolutely love that film. One of the best of the year by a long shot!

Happy holidays, enjoy and rest up. I am also excited about lazarus... creator of it always delivers. I like the idea of slice of life or romance. The last show I watched and it was rly good was ping pong the animation. It is very different and it has great writing imo. I think some romance anime would also be great maybe other people have some better recommenations than me for this, but I liked toradora, golden time and now recently Dangers in my heart is banger and Ao no hako/ blue box is pretty decent and people say it will get even better. :) thanks for all content and happy holidays once again

Yeah, I’m also for waiting for the One Piece remake. They seem to be aiming to possibly do a duel pronged approach with the remake doing the first half of the story while the original anime remasters some of the poorer made arcs from the second half.

Bro, The Penguin! No need to watch The Batman

Madoka would be such a good option.

At least where I am, Shogun was a huge TV event. It's just (currently) only one season. I think you'd very much enjoy it. I don't know if it would be a nightmare for copyright or not though.

-Nana -Natsume Yuujinchou -The Bear -The Haunting of Hill House Merry Christmas!

I would love for you to dip your toes into live action, there's all sorts of shows that would be fun to watch. I wouldn't want it to overtake the animation side of things, but it would be a good accompaniment. Either way I'm super excited for the next year of adventures here (even if I'm pretty skeptical of the inevitable OnePiece)

I hope Ass Class is in dub, if only for you to experience Sonny Strait’s outstanding performance. NTM the cast just nails the comedy all around.

Happy Holidays Alex! A Look Back reaction would be awesome! I remember thinking you would have a lot to say about it when I was watching it. AssClass will be super fun to re-watch with you, especially with your teaching experience. You mentioned liking Great Teacher Onizuka, so this should make a really interesting watch for you! A live action show recommendation: Severance. The plotline is largely a mystery so I won't spoil it, but the basic premise is what if you could split your work brain from your non-work brain? So, when you clock in, the next memory you have is after you clock out-- you'll never have to experience the 9-5-- great, right? Hmm... Season 2 is right around the corner so I think it would be relevant. Shogun was also really popular, so maybe worth considering as well! Best wishes.

Got to be honest, I think you're in your own bubble when it comes to the whole live action thing. There are so many good shows coming out or have come out within the past couple of years and it makes sense considering you have a channel where you focus on animation just imo though excited for what's next. Have a great new years!

Hoping Puella Magi Madoka Magica is on that list (if you haven’t already watched it) That’s honestly the only “wishlist” show I have for you. That and maybe Higurashi: When They Cry. Unfortunately, I don’t know if I have any other recommendations at the moment, especially live action unless it’s a limited series like the Fall of the House of Usher (which is really good btw, definitely recommend)

I would also really like to see you watch look back!

Fruba movie would be so awesome! And darn it I swear I'm sticking around till you one day get to dr stone xD I hope you have great holidays!

Happy christmas and a wonderful new year!!!! About live action recomendations, i think you would really like SHOGUN, specially with you background in learning languages and being in other countries. My favourite part is how They use translation and misscomunication as an excellent plotpoint.

Hi! I understand waiting for the new version of One Piece, but the thing is, we dont know when is gonna stop and from where is gonna continue. Besides theres a charm on the old series. For outdated that could feel, is still worth it. Is definitely your decision, but if I could recommend, I would say that this is the best moment to start now that the series is in its last arc. I might be bias too, I’m an animator on the show lol

José Sebastian Rebolledo

For a slice of life show can I recommend Yuri on Ice. It's a sports anime plus some romantic tones. It would cover both that romance niche like fruits basket/ love is war had and sports competivness like Haikyuu. It also only is one season in length

Sage

i would loooove to see Look Back, i think it’s a great choice and it’s different to the action-y stuff, would be a nice change :) happy holidays !!!!
