[EN]SHOWTIMExMONSTERS 2 Dev Letter [vol.61]

Hello, I'm Satoh.

The weather is getting colder and colder, and it feels like winter is gradually approaching.

Although the end of the year is gradually coming into sight, I would like to continue to work steadily on my production work day by day.

――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――

Last month was the first anniversary of SxM2 and Halloween, so I drew my first seasonal illustration in a while.

The main subjects are the ghostly monsters added in SxM2, and Pumpkin Lantern also makes an appearance.

It takes me a long time to draw a picture with many people and variations, but since it was the anniversary of SxM2, I put a lot of energy into it and tried my best.

Seasonal illustrations will be implemented in the game as dream scenes, so I think you will be able to enjoy this in the game in the future.

Due to the addition of in-game elements and adjustment work for the major update this year,

I was unable to find time to draw summer illustrations, but I hope to continue drawing seasonal illustrations from time to time.

I recently started working on the art book, and I am first working on the setting drawings for all the monsters and characters.

Each one is simple, but there are so many that it is still a time-consuming process.

The monster designs are basically improvised, so the settings for the unseen parts only exist as vague images in my head.

So drawing the settings is a process of imagining what the monster will look like behind the scenes. I also draw the settings to expand my imagination.

I hope to show you these pictures as a preview in future letters.

This time, with sincere gratitude for you, supporters,

I drew two " Autumn in full swing special 2024"-themed special illustrations for you.

――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――

This is Chagama Tanuki, a tea kettle from Japanese Monster.

I feel like drawing a Japanese style monster in autumn.

Chagama Tanuki is a monster based on a Japanese fairy tale called “The Magic Teakettle".

This time I drew it as if it were happily walking on a tightrope, just like in the fairy tale.

It is an image of a monster that transforms using leaves, and when it is wrecked, its clothes become only leaves.

It is a dependable tank-type monster that also has a profound ability to heal its clothes and maintain a high defense.

――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――

Here is another Japanese-style monster, Raiju.

I drew this monster with an eye to the fluffy feel of its fur and its toned body.

It is a monster that looks like a beast clad in lightning, and its hair and tail are made of lightning.

It is very fast, and in the game, it is a nasty enemy that attacks first with Greased Lightning.

Like the Kamaitachi, Raiju is also based on an ancient Japanese yokai motif.

――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――

That's all for this letter.

I'll post vol.62 on around 2024/12/20.

Now that the last spurt of the major update is over, I can work on things in a relatively relaxed manner.

I would like to continue working on seasonal illustrations as I did in the past and aim to complete the art book first.

I would also like to finalize my image of the 1.20 update.

The temperature is going to get colder and colder, so I hope everyone will stay warm.

Thank you Smooy. Yea, I've been able to work on it relatively leisurely pace recently. Please look forward to the artbook as well. And I'm happy to hear you like the special illustrations :)

Such a wonderful letter I'm just back to see. I'm glad you can finally go into cruise control and relax a bit after all the hard work with the big update. An artbook sounds like an amazing next project with no real pressure or timeline to complete, so I look forward to seeing it when it's ready. And the two illustrations here are great! Thanks for another amazing month, Satoh!
