BRAIN CHRONICLE | September 2025

Hello Brains & Hearts!

I keep wanting to say “It’s been a crazy month,” but I feel like I say that all the time… I’m starting to wonder if content creation might just be a crazy-busy job. 🤣 But it’s true! We’ve shot so much content that will be out in the coming weeks - including the much-anticipated tackling of the DOOM ROOM! I can’t wait for you guys to see it, and I’m really excited to share what I learned by doing this WITHOUT having Cas and her helpers physically there to help. We shot a lot of this literally within days of also doing a livestream. Ha. Hahaha. We’re so tired. But the livestream was such a good time! I hope to do more!

For now, though, let’s get into how to make tasks feel less overwhelming (as voted on by our SUPERbrains!).

When a task feels overwhelming, it’s TOTALLY fun to start… said nobody ever.

Have a to-do list that feels unmanageable in size?

Or a large project looming overhead?

How the heck are we supposed to start when we feel so overwhelmed?

Common advice like "eat the frog" or "just do it" rarely works for our neurospicy brains. Luckily, the ADHD community has many amazing and creative ways to tackle overwhelming tasks. My team compiled a few they felt were especially unique and helpful, but there were so… so so so so many more suggestions! Click here to read them all!

⏱️Whine Time: Let yourself whine for a minute! This blew our MINDS. But there’s something nice about allowing ourselves to say “I DON’T WANNA”. For some,  acknowledging this feeling can feel freeing, which lets them start the task… even if they don’t wanna.

Positive Sums: When a whole shift feels overwhelming, split it up into smaller time chunks! Instead of eight, 1-hour chunks, you can do sixteen, 30-minute chunks, or thirty-two 15-minute chunks. The magic happens as time passes. Going from 16 to 14 chunks left feels like more progress than 8 to 7… and if you use 15-minute chunks it drops even faster… going from 32 to 28. For some, this helps time feel like it’s ACTUALLY moving, which can help add urgency to your task, too!

🫙 Sensory Fun!: Sometimes just SEEING progress can help us continue chipping away at an overwhelming to-do list. This can be done in a myriad of ways, but one of our favourites from the community? Get a clear container, like a vase, and some glass pebbles. Done with a task - small or large? Choose a glass pebble and add it to your container. Teeth brushed? Pebble. Had water? Pebble. Finished that paper? Pebble. You get the joy of picking a colorful pebble to add, while seeing just how much you’ve accomplished!

As you can see, there’s no one “right” way to make tasks feel less overwhelming – it’s all about having a variety of tools you can use that work for you.

Looking for your perks? We got you!

ADHD in the Parks | Oct 4, 2025

Location: Any park near you!

Created by a brain in the community, ADHD in the Parks just requires… a park, an ADHD book or magazine (or ADHD merch), and you! With a goal of normalizing seeing ADHD out in the world, this little “event” can also be a great way to find members in your community who also have ADHD.  Or it can just be a great way to participate quietly and see some sun (y’know, barring… rain… or snow.) Whatever works for you! If you don’t have a park near you (or don’t feel safe going to one), a virtual park works too! Share your real-life or virtual park visits on October 4th, using #ADHDintheParks.

Yup! Do what works for you and your environment - including the people in that environment, such as kids. :)

How to ADHD

I just need to tell you, pretty pebbles will be tempting for a little one to put in her mouth and possibly choke! It seems impossible to put anything high enough once their little eyes see it! ♥️♥️♥️
