Especially in a podcast context, where you’re asked to critically engage with pop culture but that’s changed for you now in a sense because you’re friends or in community with a lot of creators and artists whose work you may not appreciate. It’s a question I think a lot about these days. How do you navigate that. Is it better to talk around and not mention some piece of media at all to avoid humiliating your friends or is there a way we can be critical in a way that is edifying and genuine and not hostile?
