Talk about damning your soul to hell. I know his story is one of religious corruption and basically he's in a cult but the moment any God asks you to make a sacrifice that horrible it has to make you question all your belief system. Smh. He was in too deep and honestly this is like this is another character that falls victim to their own arrogance. If Stannis could believe for even one moment that maybe he is NOT meant for the throne even if he has the legitimate claim that he wouldn't do this but he's so caught up in his own importance.

In no way am I excusing this man cause I would rather have the world end than do this to someone I love....but Stannis really thought he had to do this. He was told he was the king that was prophecised to save the world from the white walkers I believe. This just shows how dutiful of a man he was which is incredibly interesting. Completely awful and repugnant but interesting to think about and compare to real life people who do awful things because they genuinely believe in it. Insane behavior. I kinda love the relationship between Jorah and Dany. His love for her feels so genuine, like he's not even possessive or trying to be her boyfriend or anything, he just genuinely wants to protect her and be of service. I think they tried to make it a love triangle with Daario but Jorah doesn't even seem like he's trying to really win Dany over romantically IMAGINE IF SHIREEN HAD GOTTEN TO WATCH DANY RIDE HER DRAGON. IMAGINE IF SHE HAD GOTTEN TO RIDE ONE. OH THE TEARS ARE COMING

Cerseis comment in that convo between her and Oberyn was the more realistic fact- "Everywhere in the world they hurt little girls ". Also Ellaria is a Sand - so she is a Dornish Bastard - which usually being with a bastard is looked down upon but not in the Dornish culture (overall) so that's what she meant by no one disapproved of her and Oberyn.

He is all about “doing things by the book” but really all he is doing is being manipulated by melissandre. He has no backbone to believe in his own abilities without her there to cajole his ego. He does whatever she says will “benefit” him but still sits on his high horse as if he is on some moral high ground. A walking talking contradiction he is. I mean right from the get go, even as the “legal” heir to the throne, his own brother, most of his own bannermen, pretty much everyone in the small council all tried to tell Ned that Stannis was unfit to rule. Literally NO ONE who knew this guy wanted him as king
