It felt like this just gave a taster for what’s to come so I am looking forward to the next episodes. I am interested in dance although don’t know that much about it, so I am open to learning.

I am not a dancer at all but I am a vivid dancer fan and have watched dancing for years/ follow dancers and have grown to understand some of the basics. any actual dancers can add/correct me 1. freestyle: freestyling yes in some way u are thinking about the moves but its more like ok what moves can I do to fit the song/mood I'm dancing to at the moment... overall yes just doing whatever comes to mind. freestyle is just listening to the music/ beat and trying to devise a routine in whatever your style(s) is to portray the vibe/story of the music in your ownway. it's not thinking in terms of already having pre-rehearsed dance moves to the song and thinking to try to remember it. freestyle is supposed to 100% unrehearsed unplanned moves the opposite of choreography. 2. The dance style locking itself is more of like freezing/holding (locking) dance moves for a short bit of time but ur doing it in a fast movement. Locking is mainly focused on the arms and has a lot of isolation mixed in (isolation is when u move certain parts of your body while keeping other parts still). So ur doing ur movements at a faster pace to then slow it down and freezing at some points for a bit to go right back into dancing fast.

-excuse the essaying- 11:00 - With freestyling, to some extent you do think about the moves, but the other half is really just listening to / feeling the music. Each individual style has its own moves that make up the core foundation of the dance. Creativity comes in when you start building on these foundational moves and adding your own flare to it. Styles can also be influenced/inspired by other styles as long as the core essence isnt lost and youre not just sporadically jumping from one style to another which looks tacky. In a freestyle, its more like "How is the music moving me? How can I use MY movements to portray the music visually so that the audience can see what I am interpreting?"
