Added 2025-05-18 18:00:07 +0000 UTChappy sunday! i've got another exclusive video for you all. this time, it's all about money, big dollar bills, cha ching, and all that and all that. i've been thinking about money a lot lately for a bunch of reasons — going full-time, the sociopolitical state of the world, the new Mario Kart. all things of equal seriousness!
but i wanted to condense my thoughts down about money and how the music business may be affected in the next year or so. i'd love to hear your thoughts about all this!

On the question of lossless audio: I care when I'm sitting down and actively listening to music on a regular basis. But when I travel or even go to work, I don't travel around with my nice headphones or items so paying extra for that wouldn't be worth it for me. Furthermore, when I tend to sit down and listen to the nicer stuff, it's usually things I've already bought such as records so it wouldn't be worth it. I have also thought about it and my vinyl records and CD collecting habits haven't changed much but that's only because I was mostly a selective second hand buyer anyway because 1) a lot of the things I'm looking for actively tend to be older and out of print 2) I only have so much space. I selectively buy new drops only for certain items. Like I bought the repress of the Froot album by Marina because I missed out on getting the record on its original release and it's haunted me continually since.

2025-06-01 00:35:00 +0000 UTCMaybe I’m an Old Man™️ now, but when it comes to cheap digital streaming (music, movies, e-books, all of it), I think the fact that we have so much access to almost EVERYTHING and treat said access as a given is bonkers. The opinion of many (in my experience) seems to be that we DESERVE to have access to everything in every artistic medium at all times for almost no money, and I think that’s…wrong. But that’s the internet for us, I guess.
