Hello Mr Snare I just wanted to let u know how glad I am you’re finally did a MJ DDD and I’ve been a fan of yours for about 2-3 years and not to get too dark your videos have helped me through a tough time as I’m currently homeless and residing in a hotel due to my home catching fire on Xmas Eve so I just wanna thank you for that

Milton 💯💯

Hjnintendofan

I'M SO HAPPY TO BE ABLE TO GIVE MY FAVORITE MUSIC HISTORY CREATOR MONEY DIRECTLY GRAAAAH

Nobod_E

You did a great job with this. As a MJ Stan I appreciate how you kept it fair when you talked about the allegations and just said the facts without your opinions getting in the way of it. Damn shame those fuckers are still going to trial next year the same year the biopic is suppose to come out smh.

The Respected Madman

Fantastic job, it's really great to see how you handle such dense and complex HIStory with a fresh perspective and sense of humor. (I know you don't take artist suggestions really but I gotta throw out there that you should check out Fishmans if you haven't, thank you again sir)

Jonah Dearth

I'm broke, but had to toss you $5 for making this video. It's one of the greatest, most respectful pieces I've ever seen on him. I hope people keep warming back up to Michael's music, because it's filled with the sincere emotion we need today.

Emily

i feel so vindicated every time you mention get on the floor that song is SUCH a banger

Lee

Extremely great video, definitely worth the wait ! And you handled the controversies surrounding MJ like a champ. I might be the only one, but I'm genuinely quite intrigued by more of the stuff that happened around the Victory Tour lol

Amélie Roubert

Rest in peace MJ. You would’ve loved the Kendrick vs Drake beef

Geordi Shafer

I’m a true Michael Jackson historian and sir…you were ever so perfect with your historical references of Michael. Fantastic video. I’m happy I spend the time to watch It and I’ll watch It again!!!

Also loved the video lol. When I was a kid this topic really fascinated me so I remember in like 2011 fighting with people in YouTube comments sections about if it was even real. When Yuji Naka basically confirmed it a few years I felt more validated than I ever had in my life. Then he was arrested shortly after that which could of been a sign to not mess with Michael Jackson or inside trade in Japan.

I'm glad you mentioned his connection to Sonic 3! It's the quintessential video game playground rumor that actually turned out to be true. Though his actual work on the game has been said to not be as big as it was rumored to be. According to Brad Buxer (who is in the Sonic 3 credits as a music team member) Michael wasn't really into the project once he got into the nitty-gritty of developing for the Genesis soundchip. And basically just told Buxer to play around with some of his demos and find spots to fit in parts of his songs. Basically telling Buxer "I don't wanna do this. So you do it." His work on the game was mainly just Buxer sending demos of unreleased MJ demos to The Sega Sound Team in Japan. One of these was most likely the Stranger in Moscow demo which made its way to Sonic 3 End Credits. Since the Genesis was midi based in how it made it's music the Japan Team probably listened to a bunch of these tracks and just picked instrumental parts they thought sounded cool and programed those parts with input from Buxer. This basically opens up a third reason for why he's not credited. He probably didn't really do anything! Also many Sega of America employees including the then President of Sega of America Tom Kalinske said that they never saw Michael sign any contracts for his involvement in Sonic 3. So that also probably factored in.

Absolutely worth the wait, one of the best DDDs and I definitely understand the hesitation to cover a tragic figure like this but you handled the harrowing topics brought up extremely well and professionally. It makes me imagine a vision of a Mac Miller DDD but that one I think would be more centered around the base tragedy of a talented musician dying early instead of a historic musicians career laced with horrific allegations and rough stories. Thank you so much for the content you make, and remember to always take things at your pace and timing. I'm really glad to have found your channel, you were a big step into getting me on my music journey that I'm on.

wait i need this too

Need a brainrot version of this DDD but instead of subway surfers gameplay it's Mic playing Michael Jackson: The Experience for the Nintendo Wii for the entire duration

Thank you! Love all your picks too. I was thinking about Prince the whole time I was making this, I find their dynamic so fascinating. How they mirrored each other in their goals, and how they accomplished them in their own ways.

Mic The Snare

This is definitely one of the best DDDs (despite the inevitable discourse)! In a strange way, it feels like a companion piece to the Prince DDD, which is kinda cool. I also wanna say a few songs that weren’t mentioned that are some of my favs by MJ. Liberian Girl (harmonies at the end are heavenly) Workin’ Day and Night (the percussion grooves so hard) I Can’t Help It (though mentioned in passing, it’s such a quiet storm jam, and it being written by Stevie Wonder makes so much sense) In The Closet (very intimate but such a bop) Off the Wall (2nd best bassline on the album behind Get on the Floor) Heaven Can’t Wait (re-emerged on TikTok, but the chorus is so good) Love the videos!! (Also I agree with you for saying Heal the World is the weakest on Dangerous. Feels like Man in the Mirror and Earth Song do that idea better in more interesting ways)

zyslythe

done, it can be your official title

Mic The Snare

Thank you!! Carousel is v underrated. And if we're talking demos, I would've LOVED to see Got The Hots make it onto the album proper. It felt like Off The Wall's cousin, and I really liked how it was in 6 instead of the usual 4.

YAY

vvsvlogs

Snare, don't even feel bad about your opinions on "Beat It." I totally understand. In fact, if you want to feel better, I can top it. I'm the guy who thinks "Human Nature" is the worst song on Thriller. I just don't get the love for it. I don't love the chord progression, I hate how sluggish the whole song feels, and I absolutely hate the vocals and lyrics... ESPECIALLY the lyrics. The more I sit with them, the creepier the whole song gets. I would've replaced it with "Carousel" or one of the other Thriller demos lying around in a heartbeat. Beyond that scorcher of a take, I want to tell you that this is one of your best DDDs in a long time. Loved every minute of this and it was well worth the wait. <3
