Voyager has always been superior to DS9 for me. I liked the more episodic feel and I feel like there was more character development than ppl give it credit for (I won't elaborate bc of spoilers but there's just a ton of growth with each of the characters). The cast had better chemistry and the stories were so original (with new aliens, new tech, new planets, new dilemma...) and there was more range in the characters. Idk...I never understood how DS9 was more popular. I'm glad you're enjoying the re-watch at least. Even as someone who has watched Voyager 100 times, I feel like I enjoy it more each time, too. It's the most re-watchable series, in my opinion.

I've said in the past that Voyager was never my favorite. I think I likened it at one point it to bon-bons -- a fun time but not that deep and not really worthy of a full re-watch. But doing this re-watch with you (and others in the comments section), I have to say that I am LOVING it. I'm as surprised as anyone. The only explanation I think is I may have been one of those snobs who was comparing it to TNG, DS9, and, weirdly, Babylon 5 (which is a whooooole other beast). Voyager is a hell of a lot better than I remember. If I had to guess why some people look down on Voyager vs. other entries in the Star Trek universe is because it tried to thread the needle between having stand-alone episodes where anyone in the audience could jump in at any point, while having some sub-storylines that carried across several episodes. Plus, you had the inevitable comparisons to TNG and DS9. Overall, Voyager has been undergoing a kind of re-evaluation in Trekkie fandom, partly because of a new generation discovering Capt. Janeway, and partly because some Voyager characters (some you've met, some you haven't) are truly beloved in the franchise. Ooo, fun fact. Ethan Phillips (Neelix) and René Auberjonois (Odo) co-starred together on an early-80s sitcom called Benson. I remember seeing episodes on TV Land (I think?) a billion years ago and immediately recognizing them by their voices.

Would have been a decent reaction to a good episode had you not jabbered about irrelevant subjects over some of it. 😐
