Such fun. Season 5 is my favorite, for sure

Dan Williams

Majel Roddenberry really was a fantastic actress. Her voice as the computer is iconic but when she's really given some good material as Lwaxana she is stunning. I just wish the character was not so incredibly annoying! One of her least annoying episodes here though.

Pirateman

Will always make me think of Kings Quest VI for me. What a fantastic voice actor. New lamps for old!

Pirateman

It's actually fairly simple to keep track of the order to watch by air date. You'd watch the first 11 episodes of TNG Season 6, then the first 5 episodes of DS9, and then alternate the episodes watched for the rest of the series.

Matt Hensley

I loved Lwaxana and Alexander. Obviously there's so much to criticize in the episode and Lwaxana's actions but she was emotionally available to Alexander when his own father wasn't and his mother is dead. He needed Lwaxana then.

Shelly

I will always remember him as the evil Parcelsius from the 80s Beauty and the Beast starring Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman (a show that deserves reaction, at least the first season. hint hint.).

Mark Chrisco

This is the only episode where I could stand Lwaxana Troi. Nothing against Majel, it's just that a character meant to be annoying was a little too much so for my liking and I felt the "comedy" aspect grew thin rather quickly. At least in this one she actually gives some really sound and helpful advice.

Henchman Twenty1

Ahh, the Late, Great Tony Jay as Campio. Such a voice as his is remarkable. He will always be Megabyte to me, one of animations greatest villains. From the show ReBoot. Such gravitas. But he's been in countless animated works. Often as the villain. Even Disney's Huntchback of Notré Dame. It's the one saving grace of what I tend to consider a lackluster episode.

Nolan

Gotta say, much love to Majel and the rest of the cast in this episode.... but it's always been a poor message and a poor story in my humble opinion. It just seemed like a vanity episode about Ms. Troi and a display of complete disrespect to the type of discipline Worf has in mind for his child. "Troi: ...Between father and son. A fair and balanced way to achieve a mutual sense of order. LWAXANA: Well, how ghastly for you. And you're doing this to your own child, Mister Woof?" Worf is the parent for better or worse, and He should have the right to train Alexander in the way He sees fit as long as it's not abusive. Ms. Troi's attitude is very dismissive of his rights and values, while essentially butting in with her own values... it's very cloying. I'm not even going to go into the nudity aspect when it comes to another persons child... very sketch. The end scene seemed very mean as well, as nudity is not something every culture is comfortable with (and that's just on earth), so ignoring and disrespecting other cultures and customs because yours is just "better" is very offensive. If you don't want to marry someone, then simply tell them and leave, why embarrass them in front of family and their friends? What crime did her betrothed commit other then wanting her to follow simple yet 'boring' traditions. She demeans everyone she doesn't like by purposefully mispronouncing their names... Woof? Jerko? Really? Immature and again rude. I wholeheartedly disagree with the way it was written in a way to make her actions charming because she's an older white lady (Our western Cultural default for what was acceptable at the time of this ep) but if she was anything else, we would call her selfish, entitled, bigoted, and frankly quite rude. Sorry this got long, but it really is irksome that this is played for laughs, when essentially we have an older person who thinks she knows better then everyone around her, and she faces zero consequences for her rudeness, or in her disrespect of the values and feeling of others. She never apologizes, she never retreats, and writers essentially tell us that everything is ok, because everyone just did what she wanted in the end. [This whole Ep could be called Boomer Entitlement 101]

Yay Yorkshire tea! I’m from Yorkshire! Gods country hello gals

LonghillAndy

What a brilliant idea! Please say yes :)

Ian Smith

This one does have some nice moments with Lwaxana and Alexander, and when she gets serious now and then I like her character. But with the weird children's holodeck program, more Worf/Alexander arguing, and the kind of boring goop crisis... not a favorite. Very weird though, how the next episode has one aspect so similar to something in this one. Strange back-to-back pairing.

Joe Concepts

Seasons 3-5 are absolutely peak TNG. Reasonable people can disagree about which of the three is the best, but I can't imagine many people choosing 1, 2 or 7. I guess I can maybe see 6? I like a lot of it - it's just not quite as good as 3-5. But 7 is just all over the place. You've got some of the worst episodes of the entire series and a few of the best. The whiplash you get from going from Sub Rosa to The Lower Decks is insane.

Robert C

You are not far from the season 5 finale and I was wondering if you had any plans to watch DS9 season 1 parallel to TNG season 6?

Emil Borg

A very melancholy atmosphere in this story. Always thought it reflected on Majel Barrett's loss of her husband, Gene Roddenberry.

Mark Chrisco

"The Price of Living." That's a very different episode. Either Lwaxana adopts Devinoni Ral, Or Deanna has an affair with... nope, not gonna finish that sentence.
