it’s kinda like “dog years” logic for jake. they’re the same age but he matured faster than finn. kinda like how jake’s own kids rapidly matured but to a lesser extent

This flashback doesn't take place that far back in the past, in fact it probably doesn't even take place more than 30 years in the past..... it's just that Joshua and Margaret decided to have their office in an old and crumbling human city.... which has somehow stayed mostly intact even after almost 1000 years. Also... there was no "Creatures" plural, it was all a single inter-dimensional entity who was constantly shape-shifting.

If you really take a step back, Jake's family lineage is pretty wild. Jermaine and his parents are normal dogs, Jake is half alien creature half dog, Finn is an adopted human, Jake's kids are half dog and rainicorn, and we recently got confirmed that KKW has a daughter which seems to be half dogicorn and bear. (wait if jake is part alien, doesn't that make all his kids part alien too?)
