What the hell is all this??

 Hi everybody!

I was messing around in an old hard drive and found a lot of my old work. I thought I could share it with you since most of you, most likely, follow me for my more recent work starting at Dynamite.

Before that I was drawing random projects I got from DeviantArt, a lot of potential but sadly not enough money to get eyes on it.

Most of them were literally funded by the writters themselves. Brave people but it's a hard industry...

This will show you that, when people ask us (artists that is) "How did you learn to draw?" and we always say "practice, practice and more practice".... well, this is the proof!

I'ts a never ending learning process...

So in order:

Unbeatable #1-2: was my first graphic novel with Matthias Wolf as the writter/producer. Colors by the great @teo_gonzalez_colorist

Les Aventuriers de l'OAK #1-2: This was for a french publisher, Kantik. It was a lot of fun but sadly they disappeared before publishing issue #2.

Black Lotus Empire: This was a great project such cool designs!

C.U.P.I.D.S. such cool characters designs and story

Ferrous Bloom: somewhat of a Blade Runner vibe with an old school cop with a cool car haha Here I improved masively my car drawing skills!

Gutters: I don't even remember what this is! I guess it was something for DC but, seriously, I don't have any recollection of it!

JINNRISE: A cover I did for IDW for a comicbook series I never heard of before!

I also found a couple links that mention some of my older work if you guys want to check it out.

If you could show your favorite book covers from each year since you went professional, what would you choose for 2012, 2016, 2020, and the years in between?

Yeah, it was a weird page for sure!

I used to work only on paper, I've started doing digital a year ago or so. I've only had inkers when I worked in Marvel UK, I've always had a very clean line and I never liked people destorying my work haha (most inkers just change the art so much, it's painful). I use A3 paper (11-3/4" x 16-1/2") and I just fit the 11x17 standar page in there. The A3 is a wider sheet than a 11x17 so you end up with space at the sides.

Thanks, man. I'm glad you enjoy it ;)

I think the Batman page was more of a parody to both support gun regulation and heavily criticize the modern NRA for being gun happy.

As for my first post I'll like to say thank you for taking the time to reply. I was looking at the linework as they were high res, I realize that you did the Dresden Files and the Red Sonja run all in traditional. I got some many questions to ask so I will limit to few for now. Did you ink or have an inker for those pages? What size paper did you use for your pages? I guessing you don't reside in the States so its not the standard 11x17? Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Well I love what you’re doing, and thanks for sharing your process!

thanks, man. Yeah I always paid a lot of attention to the final lineart, never wanted to have inkers or anything. Digital is freeing for sure, you can sketch as many times as you want but the main reason it's because it's faster. And there is a lot of effects you can use, I'm still working things out!

Carlos Gomez

Thanks for sharing ! These are great! You always have such tight pencils, even in these older pages. It’s fun to see your digital work ( maybe even looking a little looser) . Do you find working digitally any more freeing, to try different poses etc without having to commit as early, or is it more or less the same for you. Every sneak peak on America looks amazing, can’t wait to grab that first issue.

I'm glad! I cringe a little seeing these but I love to revisit them.

Carlos Gomez

Yeah! It was hard at the beginning but with Youtube and just working on it, I'm getting used to the digital hehe.

Carlos Gomez

Thanks for sharing! Really enjoyed this!

Incredible. I never knew about this. Your style has evolved incredibly fast and well in 10 years. Dedication and effort brought you to now. Incredible.

All these were done traditional, I just started digital recently, one year ago ;)

Carlos Gomez

Thank you, man! as you can see it's been a long road haha

Carlos Gomez

These are great, and I appreciate you sharing. Were you using digital to do these or traditional?

You are a master at this stuff! Thanks for sharing this
