Japanese?) inspired and so Im guessing their customs are as well such as kowtowing to elders. Idk if that is common to other cultures too tho I do believe kowtowing is a common expression of reverence. Anyway this part feels like a scene from Chinese wuxia films where the son doesn't want the matriarch to kill his forbidden lover. The emotions! The complicated love between elder and child, king and knight, lover and friend. Hurts so good. Love it :')
