My favorite way a sample has been incorporated into a track/verse is “Detroit River Rock” off my favorite Boldy James album Manger on Mcnichols. This song has probably my favorite Boldy hook too. This album released during COVID and went super under the radar but the story behind it is crazy. There’s a whole documentary of YouTube u can watch, but basically the album took 12 years to make because the producer had recorded the verses when Boldy was younger and kept tweaking the beats for over a decade. Definitely recommend checking out the rest of the album in your free time.

Y’all need to do the whole Minstrel Show album by them but they are an absolutely classic North Carolina rap group. 9th wonder on the beats and the raps is fire. This song talks about their struggles with being a successful group but not getting as much love back home. As a nc native and recent hbcu grad myself (they went to North Carolina central university and I went to NCAT) I would love to see some love for them on the channel
