MKM 0.4 - The Gallery Update

The gallery is a new location that can be found inside the castle, and as the name suggests, it serves as the gallery room of the game where player's can watch all of the erotic pixel art animations in one convenient place.

To unlock it, players must first navigate Maya to enter the gallery room. After that, you'll be able to teleport there whenever you wish (there is a new save point inside) and this will also unlock the gallery button in the title menu, therefore pressing that button will load the game directly into the gallery room.

There are 8 hidden doors inside the main room, and each door corresponds to one of the 8 "biomes" of the game (beach, forest, castle, etc). These doors are initially hidden, and once Maya defeats the respective boss of each biome then that door will appear in the gallery beneath the appropriate painting.

Revealing each door like this unlocks that respective biome to be selected in the animation viewer and arena spawner.

Speaking of which, while inside the gallery the animation viewer and arena spawner can be accessed by pausing the game and selecting the new option called "Gallery" in the pause menu.

This brings up a new window that contains all of your unlocked biomes and their respective creatures. To start viewing the animation, simply navigate in that menu and select your preferred characters and scenes.

Finally, there is an arena to the left of the gallery room where you can spawn any of the game's enemies. It follows the same rules of the animation viewer, but while inside the area the menu will instead spawn the selected enemy.

Other than the gallery, two new enemies join in on the fun in this update. One is the Medusa, which can apply a nasty debuff on Maya to make her stiff and then rock hard. The other is the Fairy of Sorrow which is a new type of spawner enemy.

As I keep aiming towards my goal of completing the game this year, I'll slowly shift my focus from drawing/creating more new enemies every update, to focusing on the game's systems and mechanics. There are reworks to the game's engine that I've been meaning to do for a long while now, but couldn't because I had to keep pumping out new enemies.

To be clear, there are still more new enemies that I want to add until the final version, it's just that as opposed to every update in the past coming with 3 to 5 new enemies, in this final stretch of development I have to reduce that amount per update in order to focus more on the gameplay parts. That said, it is still possible that some updates will contain lots of enemies too, but just that frequency will be reduced.

Well, all in all I'm really glad that I was finally able to get the gallery system up and running, and I'm looking forward to getting back into the code of the game to not only rework some elements of the gameplay, but also to start introducing some new features that are missing and that will enhance the overall game experience.

With a monster like Medusa, the idea of more debuffs is super interesting to me, like preventing use of spells or items, r even jumping

Thanks for the bug report. The solo lizard scenes are now fixed. Bosses can't be used in the area because they have more complex behaviors and it would break things, and besides there is already an option to rematch them in their respective stages.

It seems the sex scenes for the green and black lizard guards are bugged. In the gallery, arena, and game itself, Maya and the lizard turn invisible and the struggle meter resets to zero when maxed out. So there's no escaping and the scene doesn't end. This doesn't seem to happen for the dual lizard scene. Maybe this is due to the lizards being the only characters with a 3-way option and the gallery tying them to only going solo? Also, bosses don't seem to work in the arena, but I may have missed any documentation saying that they hadn't been included.

Oh thank you very much for the bug report! This is indeed a bug, and a holdover from when I was fixing her other bug heh. I will be uploading a new bugfix release right away.

The new Gallery is a very interesting and fun addition. It's pretty cool to experiment with different enemies and alter speeds, lock loops, etc. Also, I definitely wasn't expecting new enemies with this release. If we get one or two with each new release, as you described, this game is going to be full to the brim with all sorts of cool new enemies. Although, I'd say don't hesitate to add new animations to existing enemies as well. Definitely loving the Medusa for this reason. She can pose Maya in up to three unique poses, and petrificaton is such a sexy kink to expand on. Can't wait to see what else you've got in store.

So I love the gallery, but I've hit a snag. Tried using my old MKM data from ver. 0.3e, and for whatever reason, even on new games with no upgrades, I one shot the Blue Vixen. I dont particularly mind deleting the data and replaying the content if that fixes it, but I just thought Id say something before I do.

Take the UserData folder from your previous version and port it to the new version and you should be good to go.

I wanna add to what I said before since I feel i didn't give your work enough justice. this is a great update, and your work on this gallery is very impressive. like you put a lot of effort into it when some may just do a simple scene viewer. Very nice work! I didn't mean to come off as not apprechiating what you did. I just have some difficulty with some of the bosses. I do plan to fully play the game once its fully done, just for now I want to see all your art and animations

I like the gallery but I feel like some of the bosses are too difficult so I think it would be nice if you could unlock gallery without beating all the bosses of each stage :)

The medusas are very sexy indeed. :9 Course, they make Maya rock hard. Ah, and the fairies are a real bitch to get to, but I quite enjoy their scene! It's interesting, when Maya goes in, you use the more face-outline and hand bumps tight-bulge style. But once she's all the way it in goes away and it's a smooth belly instead, which is logically the opposite but we know how much logic applies here. Good work all around!
