2024-07-28 14:46:10 +0000 UTCYes you can totally put a plane down on the blade side, on a wooden surface. No worries. For sharpening, I go to the stone and oil only when I have to get around a major nick or when breaking in a new blade. For sharpening between jobs I prefer diamond sharpening blocks, using Windex as a lapping fluid, followed by the strop. Quick and easy.
