Discord server, maybe? Even if just a small patron-only one, like Dave's. It's free to use, allows hanging out in voice chats with video as well, including conferences. Dave Lovett (UsagiElectric) sometimes hangs out in video chats on his Discord, which makes this already thriving and excellent community even more fun. And now Adrian Black is there too! :)

I once thought about doing something like this in Gdańsk, it's a bit cumbersome as the niche is small and it'd take some nerdy event like a fandom convention that would draw people in to be viable. I guess that geeks are pretty few and far in between, and when organizing anything, you have to find a common denominator.

I was going to do it with a Meetup page, but the costs were too high... and I'm not going to use X or Facesmash so I think I'll try it the easy way first and see if becomes a disaster or not.

They're'll be another one. Yes, I double contracted there...

It's sort of what I'd be planning on doing, but not for a fee... just for the Fans.

A friend of mine had a start-up for paid "experiences", but now AirBnB and others have gotten into that game. Given that you know Philly so well, maybe you could offer paid small group tours of your favourite technical/geek locations or something with some history talk etc?

Both myself and Chris Gammell have done the casual meetup thing, and it has always worked well. Sounds like fun. But I your case I'd do it on a "first in first served" basis, fill up slots and provide a private meetup email for those on the list. Maybe allow for some overflow for no-shows.

I missed it... dangit!

See you there <3 Burnout? Oh yeah. I'm not surprised at all.
