They published all kinds of horrible things made from base household grocery items. Something I remember was the term "Kitchen Chemist" where they gave exact instructions to make knockout pills, explosives, toxic gasses, etc. That was the "dark web" of the 80s. They even had mercenaries advertise in the classifieds section with descriptions like "Anything Anywhere for any cause but Red". After some people actually hired these mercenaries from the magazine, people were killed and the government clamped down hard on the magazine and all the mercenary advertisements were banned. There were ads for books that provided detailed instructions on how to be a sniper, "private investigator" or something else radically wrong. So it didn't take the Internet to expose people to really dark stuff, but just made it 1000 times easier. I'm sure there are detailed instructions on how to make a nuclear bomb on the web, but obtaining enriched uranium and specialized explosives, etc. make the designs totally impractical. Thank God!!! But I can see someone using an ignorant "bot" to become an expert in finding the same nasty crap that used to come from Soldier of Fortune. How do you program "common sense evil" discretion in an AI? Seems like they are having all kinds of problems like this. Thanks for updating us on the subject. I didn't know about all of the failures of AI until you made me aware of them. You have to wonder if I am a "bot". Because I know I'm not opening any pod bay doors for anyone.
