No One Should 'Believe' In Science
Added 2022-09-08 09:56:03 +0000 UTCI hear it a lot these days: "I just don't believe the science" - and there in lies the problem. No one should 'believe' in science. You either choose to study it, learn about it, understand it, and comprehend it, or not. These days with so much technology in our lives the ability to comprehend the sciences that we depend on is more critical than ever to being an informed and centered individual - yet so many today are choosing faith based alternatives to this path, and applying these ancient philosophies to how they view technology and history. Let the Frant begin....

If you read i.e. the NYT or WaPo, sure you can put together a picture of the world comparing stuff and looking at what biases might be, and whats straight reporting or more influenced by opinion.. But if you don't support better newspapers, you're repeating the same power structure. Bezos did not buy WaPo for nothing. Edit: basically, it matters who's making the stuff. But wouldn't life be boring if we just "shut down" our brains when they are confronted with something scientifically new, complex and provable? Isn't the quest for knowledge supposed to be an adventure that never ends? It seems a shame to toss out critical thinking and just "slam the door" on any topic requiring real thought. I think all of your patrons like to think and explore. If they wanted a one paragraph explanation for everything in life, then just go back to the smart phone.
