Is New Vinyl Any Good?

I always figured the point of vinyl, and the reason some old albums sound so good, is that the whole signal chain is analog (and, as you correctly point out, specifically mastered for vinyl). I also think there was a lot less processing in those days, and mostly acoustic instruments, so things sounded more natural. I genuinely don’t understand why you’d take a digital recording and put it on vinyl.
