A find, and a new project...

I find that the best way to deal with an emotionally difficult time is to throw one's self into a very difficult project with a punishing timeline.  I found these genuine Apollo era Xmas tree switches that apparently came from an aviation graveyard and seem to have spent decades exposed to the elements - but they are gasket sealed so I am going to clean them up and put them into a new art project piece that I have been working on this week (along with a couple of other ongoing projects).  I want to get this piece done by the 49th anniversary of the landing of Apollo 11 but that might be unrealistic.  We'll see.  But when it's done you'll all be the first to know about it right here.  I really want it to work out!

Very much looking forward to seeing what you have in store!

I made the decision after a few months to seek a new companion, Fran. I got the great grandson of my beloved dog. It has generally been a wise choice, but every situation and person is different. I was so devastated I had to do something. Whatever you do, I wish you peace in coming to terms with the loss of your beloved pet. The grieving process is so difficult. A great big cyber hug to you. Hang in there. Love these switches, but they would not go with your display project without prematurely aging it, or giving these an extreme makeover!

When you always collect stuff, stuff always comes around.

Solder is expensive... gotta keep the cost of jets down.

Fran Blanche

Yea, I could really do without the patina for this project...

Where do you even find this sort of stuff?

Awesome as always!

Thanks for sharing, those are really amazing

Stay Strong

Go Fran!

Nice patina. :-)

Very cool! My father-in-law worked for Boeing on the Apollo program. Looks like they weren't too generous with the solder?
